        사례보고 : 하수오 복용 후 발생한 재발성 독성 간염 1예

        Toxic hepatitis has been reported as a major cause of acute hepatitis, but its potential induction by herbal remedies and/or health foods is usually neglected. We experienced a case of toxic hepatitis associated with Polygoni multiflori, a Chinese herb commonly known as Ho-Shou-Wu. A 54-year-old woman consumed Ho-Shou-Wu for 1 month, after which she experienced fatigue and overall weakness. A diagnosis of toxic hepatitis was made based on her clinical history, the findings for viral markers and other laboratory data, and ultrasonography. Her condition improved considerably after she stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. However, she resumed taking Ho-Shou-Wu immediately after discharge from hospital, which aggravated her symptoms and liver function. She was immediately readmitted and stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. Her relapse into hepatitis immediate after resuming consumption of the herb is strongly indicative of the validity of Koch`s postulate in this case.

        요통 환자의 기립위 및 좌,우 외측굴곡시 방사선 사진을 통한 요추 회전변위 분석

        Objectives : Rotation on vertebra body is common reason causing low back pain and leg radiating pain patients. The present study investigated analysis of the radiological findings on lumbar vertebra rotation between erect position and erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views in low back pain patients. Method : The study population consisted of 70 patients(outpatients and inpatients clinic of the Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, Dong-Guk Oriental Medical Hospital in Bundang) who were evaluated with X-ray findings of erect position and erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views. First, patients were measured erect position lumbar AP views by Nash-Moe`s degree. Second, patients were measured erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views by intervertebral disc space at convexity region and rotation on lumbar vertebral body. They divided into four groups by type of Grice and Cassidy`s classification. Results : 1. The distribution of sex in the low back pain with leg radiating pain was male 30(42.86%) cases, female 40(57.14%) cases. According to age, 30-40s 23(32.9%) cases, 40-50s 15(21.4%) cases, 20-30s 13(18.6%) cases, 50-60s 9(12.9%) cases, 60-70s 5(7.1%) cases, 70-80s 3(4.3%) cases, each 10-20s and 80-90s one case (1.4%). 2. According to Nash-Moe`s degree by erect position lumbar AP view, the grade 0 was male 8(11.4%) cases, female 10(14.3%) cases, the grade Ⅰ was male 17(24.3%) cases, female 22(31.4%) cases, the grade Ⅱ was male 5(7.1%) cases, female 8(11.4%) cases. 3. According to symptoms, first, patients with low back pain were male 22(31.4%) cases, female 20(28.6%) cases. second, patients with leg radiating pain were male 8(11.4%) cases, female 20(28.6%) cases. 4. According to type of Grice and Cassidy`s classification by erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views, the type Ⅰ was normal group 7(10.0%) cases, the type Ⅲ and Ⅳ were abnormal group each 15(21.4%) cases, 48(68.6%) cases. 5. According to abnormal group in Nash-Moe`s degree by erect position lumbar AP view, the grade Ⅰ was 39(55.7%) cases and then abnormal type Ⅲ, Ⅳ of Grice and Cassidy`s classification were 5(7.1%) cases, 33(47.1%) cases, the grade Ⅱ was 13(18.6%) cases and then abnormal type Ⅲ, Ⅳ of Grice and Cassidy`s classification were 1(1.4%) case, 12(7.1%) cases. So the relationship between rotation of vertebra by erect position lumbar AP view and type of Grice and Cassidy`s classification by erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views had significant correction(p<0.05). 3 6. According to analysis of symptoms and X-ray findings by erect both lateral bending position at convexity region, patients with leg radiating pain were 28 cases. In the total of 28 cases, 25 cases had shown rotation of vertebra and intervertebra disc space narrowed at convexity region, while 3 cases didn`t have shown. 7. According to abnormal rotation of vertebral body on erect position, the number of group L4 was 48(32.7%) cases the most, group L3 was 43(29.3%) cases, the next group L2 was 30(20.4%) cases. Group L4, L3, L2 had significantly connection with fixation group on erect both lateral bending position(p<0.05). Conclusions : We concluded that the abnormal rotation of lumbar vertebral body had connection with the low back pain and leg radiating pain patients. So we must regard functional X-ray such as erect both lateral bending position lumbar AP views to early find cause.

        희생양극을 이용한 자동차 소음기의 음극방식에 관한 연구

        In order to apply a sacrificial anode cathodic protection system for automotive muffler materials, determination of reliable sacrificial anode and its protection ability were evaluated by laboratory tests in synthetic condensed water. Three kinds of sacrificial anodes were selected: aluminum (AI), zinc (Zn) and magnesium (Mg), and the muffler materials were Al-coated steel and uncoated steel. The corrosion behavior in synthetic condensed water for the muffler materials and sacrificial anodes was investigated by potentiodynamic tests. The cathodic protection ability was evaluated by galvanic corrosion test and weight-loss test. The results of the potentiodynamic test indicated that Al was less suitable for sacrificial anode because it became passive. Mg was also unqualified due to the high dissolution rate. However, Zn was adequate for sacrificial anode because of its low dissolution rate, high stability and suitable potential difference. Results of weight-loss test demonstrated that the corrosion rate of Al-coated steel was reduced from 0.028 to 0.018 mm/year, and that of uncoated steel was 0.08 to 0.002 mm/year by coupling with Zn anode. In addition, the proper area ratio of anode to cathode was 1 : 10. From these results, it can be concluded that Zn anode can protect both the Al-coating with passivation, and steel substrate with low dissolution rate. (Received January 8, 2004)

        3차원 전산화단층촬영 영상을 이용한 얼굴 연조직 두께 계측

        Purpose : To evaluate accuracy and reliability of program to measure facial soft tissue thickness using 3D computed tomographic images by comparing with direct measurement. Materials and Methods : One cadaver was scanned with a Helical CT with 3 mm slice thickness and 3 mm/sec table speed. The acquired data was reconstructed with 1.5 mm reconstruction interval and the images were transferred to a personal computer. The facial soft tissue thickness were measured using a program developed newly in 3D image. For direct measurement, the cadaver was cut with a bone cutter and then a ruler was placed above the cut side, The procedure was followed by taking pictures of the facial soft tissues with a high-resolution digital camera. Then the measurements were done in the photographic images and repeated for ten times. A repeated measure analysis of variance was adopted to compare and analyze the measurements resulting from the two different methods. Comparison according to the areas was analyzed by Mann-Whitney test. Results : There were no statistically significant differences between the direct measurements and those using the 3D images (p>0.05). There were statistical differences in the measurements on 17 points but all the points except 2 points showed a mean difference of 0.5 mm or less. Conclusion : The developed software program to measure the facial soft tissue thickness using 3D images was so accurate that it allows to measure facial soft tissues thickness more easily in forensic science and anthropology.         Flocculant-producing microorganisms were screened from obtained strains in the laboratory using a pulp-wastewater treatment as the flocculating agent. K-111 strain that had high flocculating activity among them was selected and identified as Bacillus sp. K-111 16s rDNA sequencing. The favorable medium for the production of flocculant was glucose 1.5%, NH_4NO_3 0.2%, tryptone 0.01%, K_2HPO_4 0.08%, KH_2PO_4 0.06%, CaCO_3 0.03%, MgSO_4·7H_2O 0.005%, MnSO_4 0.005% in 1 liter of D.W. at initial pH 7.0. The optimum culture temperature and pH were 30℃ and pH 7.0, respectively. the flocculating activity was observed most highly after 36 to 48 hr of cultivation at the optimum conditions. the flocculating activity of produced biopolymer on optimum conditions was about 2.5-fold higher than that of screening medium.

        The low temperature storage method has been used to increase the value of agricultural products by reducing quality deterioration and controlling respiration rate. The respiration rate of agricultural products depends on several factors such as temperature, moisture, gas composition and microbe inside the storage room. Among that temperature is the most important factor, which affects respiration rate and causes severe damage. The results obtained from these experiments are that electric consumption is decreased as setting temperature is decreasing and temperature deviation is increasing. In the ventilation experiment, the case ventilated four times a day(every six hours a day) with ten minutes operation each time, was inspected require as much electric consumption as non-ventilation case.

        상수도 배관의 부식감지시스템 개발 (Ⅱ)

        In order to develop a new corrosion sensor for detecting and monitoring the corrosion of buried pipeline, the electrochemical property of sensors and the correlation of its output to corrosion rate of steel pipe, were evaluated by electrochemical methods in synthetic groundwater, two soils of varying resistivity (5,000 ohm-cm, 10,000 ohm-cm), and synthetic tap water. In this paper, two types of electrochemical probes were used: galvanic cells containing of pipeline steel-copper and pipeline steel-stainless steel (Type 304). The results of EIS measurement indicated that the sensor current was inversely related to sensor resistance, which was governed by the corrosion behavior of cathode. In galvanic corrosion tests, the galvanic current of Cu-CS probe was higher than that of SS-CS probe. The comparison of the sensor output and corrosion rates revealed that a linear relationship was found between the probe current and the corrosion rates. A good linear quantitative relationship was found between the Cu-CS probe current and the corrosion rate of pipeline steel coupons in the soil resistivity of 5,000 ohm-cm, and synthetic tap water. In the case of the soil resistivity of 10,000 ohm-cm, although the SS-CS probe showed a better linear correlation than that of Cu-CS probe, the Cu-CS probe is more suitable than SS-CS probe, due to the high current output.       • 이온교환된 ZSM-23 제올라이트 내에서 톨루엔 메탈화반응의 형상선택성

        이온 교환된 ZSM-23 제올라이트를 이용하여 톨루엔의 메틸화 반응에서의 반응 활성과 파라-선택성(p-선택성)을 실험했다. ZSM-5 제을라이트를 ZSM-23 제올라이트와 비교 실험하였다. 먼저 실험에 사용된 제을라이트 촉배로써 ZSM-23은 1.6Na2O-A1203-59. OSi02-17.9pyrrolidine-584H20, ZSM-5는 2.9Na20-A1203-1. 1H2S04-49.9Si02-4.6TPABr-1790H2O의 초기 조성비로 합성하였다. XRD와 SEM을 이용하여 합성된 ZSM-23과 ZSM-5 제올라이트의 결정 성 과 골격 구조 및 입 자 모양을 확인할 수 있었다. 합성 된 ZSM-23, ZSM-5 제올라이트에 알칼리금속을 수용액상에서 이온 교환시켜 교환된 이온종과 교환된 양에 따른 반응 활성과 선택성의 변화를 조사하였다. 즉, 1M의 NH4NO3, NaCl, CsCI의 부피를 달리하여 이온 교환량을 조절하면서 H-, Na- , Cs-제올라이트를 얻었다. 톨루엔 메틸화 반응이 일어날때 ZSM-23의 경우 HZSH-23이 반응 활성은 가장 높았고, 교환된 Na+량이 증가할수록 반응활성은 낮아지고 p-선택성은 증가되었다. 2SM-23의 경우 아주 적은 양의 Na+이온이 교환되었을 때에도 큰 Na+이온 반경에 의한 m-크실렌과 o-크실렌의 확산 지연 효과 때문에p-선택성을 나타내었다. ZSM-5의 경우 HZSM-5일 때 반응 활성은 HZSM-23 제올라이트보다 높았다. 그러나 NaZSM-23과는 달리 NaZSM-5에서 p-선택성의 증가는 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 ZSM-5의 세공 크기가 ZSM-23보다 약간 크기 때문이다. ZSH-23에 이온 교환된 경우 세공 구조의 특성에 의해 같은 조건으로 이온 교환시킨 ZSM-5보다 p-선택성이 높음을 확인할 수 있었다.
