Biohydrogen is a clean and efficient source of energy produced easily by anaerobic systems. Therefore, thediscovery of novel and efficient production methods and utilization of inexpensive starting material are crucial for economicalbiohydrogen production. In this study, novel hydrogen producing bacterial strain Clostridium sp. SH25 wasscreened from the anaerobic sludge obtained from a water treatment plant, which showed a higher hydrogen-producingactivity on glycerol than other strains. The effective hydrogen production was evaluated under varying anaerobicculture conditions, and the optimum temperature, initial pH, additional NaCl concentration, and inoculum size were37 oC, 6.0, 0%, and 10% (v/v), respectively. The cumulative hydrogen production volume from crude glycerol was24.30±1.07ml after 36 h. To test the practical application of biohydrogen, a 20ml culture of Clostridium sp. SH25 wasincubated for 12 h and directly applied to a small hydrogen car unit operated for 19.05±0.33 s with 8.37±0.21m displacement. Overall, identification of the efficient Clostridium sp. SH25 strain resulted in the production of a largeamount of biohydrogen, which further supported the operation of a small hydrogen car. This implied a possible applicationof biosystems in biohydrogen production.

This thesis focused on Rousseau's Republicaniam and Education with reference to his works, and aimed to examine Rousseau's negation and paradox on the modernity. Rousseau claims human beings are good by nature but are rendered corrupt by society. Because of self-interest, human beings are to be inequality and corrupt in modern society. In fact, to recover the natural state is impossible. But according to Rousseau, it is possible that human beings can be equality and free with self master based on “general will”. In the tradition of Republicanism, his “general will” is embodiment of political theory and educational theory. Therefore, Rousseau's central doctrine in politics, education, ethics is that a society can be formed when guided only by the “general will” of its members. It is modern society, that is his paradox. 루소(Rousseau)는 근대사회 성립 이면에 놓여 있는 인간의 부자 유와 불평등을 밝혀냄으로써 근대성의 낙관주의적 진보적 성격을 부정한다. 이기적 욕구로 결합하는 상호의존은 개별 이익간의 경쟁이며, 이는 결국 주인과 노예의 관계로 귀결되는 것이다. 근대사회는 자연상태의 극복이 아닌 도덕적으로 타락한 사회라는 루소의 주장은, 단순히 근대성을 부정한 것 이라기보다는 근대성 부정을 통해 근대사회를 새롭게 재구성하는 것이다. 계몽주의자이면서 철저한 반계몽주의자로, 근대인이면서 자연인으로 살고자 했던 루소 자신의 삶은 근대성이 내포한 모순과 갈등 그 자체이다. 루소만큼 그의 사상에 대한 비판과 논란, 죽음의 두려움 속에서 고독한 삶을 살았던 사상가를 찾기란 어려울 것이다. 그것은 그가 갖고 있던 근대적 삶에 대한 부정, 자연으로의 회귀, 인간의 자유와 불평등성, 진보에 대한 비관적 태도, 개인의 이기심에 대한 혐오, 기존 종교에 대한 부정, 일반의지에 대한 전체주의적 해석 등에서 비롯된다고 볼 수 있다. 그럼에도, 그가 근대 이후의 역사 변화와 사상적 발전에 미친 영향은 심대하다. 이에 연구자는 루소가 근대성을 부정하는 한편 그 역설로서 근대 사상의 한 축을 이루고 있음을, 그의 공화주의와 교육론을 통해 살펴보고자 한다.
콴다 효과를 가지는 고 양력 타 장착 모형선의 선회시험에 의한 조종성능 평가

콴다 효과를 이용한 고 양력 타가 선박의 조종성능에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 모형선 선회 시험을 수행하였다. 대상선은 47K PC선이며 1/85 스케일의 2m급 모형선을 이용하였다. 모형선 선회시험시스템은 모형선, 콴다 타, Jet 분사 시스템 및 타 구동장치 등으로 구성된 다. 모형선 선회 시험 결과, 고 양력타에 의한 타력 증가가 선박의 선회성능 향상에 효과적인 것을 확인하였다. In this paper, we carry out a turning test of model ship to evaluate a maneuvering performance of the ship which has high-lift rudder using coanda effect. We make a 1/85 scale model of 47K PC for use in turnung test. The turnung test system of model ship is consist of model ship, coanda rudder, jet propulsion system, rudder control system, etc. We can verify that the high-lift rudder using coanda effect is very useful to improve a turning ability of ship from the turning test results.

Precedently, the functions and significances of the Buddhist temle bell wer examined. Although there is no tangible documentation, the intorduction of Buddhism and the temple bells came to Korea at about the same time. Currently, ther are a number a temple bells that wer made after the Unified Shilla, which still exist. Specifically the bell sound of Seong-duk Dae-whang Shin bell(聖德大王神鍾), which has pereserved its beautiful resonance gives Korea a sense of cultural price. The functions of the temple bell were to gather the people at fixed times, or used in Buddhist ceremonial rituals. Up until now, the long time tradition of striking the bell at dawn or in the evening announces the beginning of Ye-bul(禮佛, the worship of Buddha). A prime example of this practice can be found within Kang-kyong-ui-sik(講經儀式, the resolute ritual); the teaching of the sutras during the Tang dynasty in Beop-hwa temple(法花院) in Chuk mountain(赤山). It was believed that the sound of the bell could penetrate into the sky above as well as reac the bottom of the infernal grounds. Thus, accordingly, it was thought that Sang-ku-bo-ri(上求菩堤, the persistence of striving for bodhi while cultivating one's moral sense) along with Ha-hwa-jung-sang(下化衆生, the teaching of Buddhist prayer) of what obtained was significant. The belief that the bell sound could redeem those suffering in inferno was spread throughout places like China an Korea. The sound of the bell could also free mankind from suffering. According to the folktale of Cha-ung bell(雌雄鍾), a snake could transcend to the heavens as a dragon. the folktale of Seon-sonn-mae-a(孫順埋兒) reveals that the function of the temple bell was magnified to the point of salvation. The bell sound was an opportunity for Seon-soon's filial piety to be head by the king, which in turn would free his family form destitution. The people who recognized the bell sound as part of Bub-um(法音) and Won-um(圓音) from Il-sung(一乘,yana) by which they followed, could be enlightened. This, in turn, is why the people listened to the bell sound, in belief that they could come to Bub-ki(法器) and be enlightened from a trance-like state of mind. Ascetics devoted themselves in absorbing the sounds of the bell, and humankind could free themselves form agony and earthly temptations through austere prayer. Thus the charitable Buddhist morality was prodigious and participation in the process of the casting of the temple bell was considered a charitable morale. Mo-yeon(募緣, the donations contributed for the materials) for the casting of the temple bell were recorded, which was a tradition since the Shilla dynasty. Under the circumstances the prayers of the caster or benefactor were engraved on the bell. The universal prayer comprised of hope to overcome hardship and obtain some auspicious fortunes. the most common prayers seen ton the temple bells of the Shilla dynasty, were to pray for human suffering to obtain absoluteness, within humane sentiment of Bub-kye(法界, the realm of Buddha) by which to fulfill the teaching of Bul-do(佛道, the Buddhist doctrinces). However, the casting of the temple bell was not always understood to function as a pure religous symbol. Occasionally, depending on the circumstances, the engravings on the bell may have been politically bound or intended accordingly to the king's or monarch's specifications for future generations. Engraved on Seong-duk DAe-whang Shin bell(聖德大王神鍾), was the prayer for the transmission of the praised king's merits. However, the religious desire was to apprehend Buddhist teachings. In contrast to this, the temple bells made in the early stages of the Choson dynasty hung in the royal court or in the bell tower, where the significance of the bell was eliminated to just praising the King's merits and morale. The temple bell without religious Bi-won(悲願, desirable prayer) continued to lose its original religious significance.
피부장벽손상이 TEWL에 미치는 영향과 호호바 오일의 피부장벽복구 역할에 대한 연구

This study was conducted on 20 female subjects in their 20s and 30s living in areas near Seoul, who were proven to have no atopic dermatitis by doctors, in order to enlighten people that the excessive usage of a special towel called the Italy towel resulting from wrong shower habits and the frequent usage of scrub cosmetics to remove dead cells can cause skin dryness and skin itching. Korean people use the Italy towel to remove dirt, which is an actual skin barrier structure that really works as a protective shield. For this experiment, we chose the part around the shinbone, which is least affected by intrinsic factors. People in Group A used scrub cosmetics everyday to damage the skin barrier structure while people in Group B used the Italy towel to damage the part. However, people in Group C used jojoba oil, which includes fatty acid, a main ingredient of the skin barrier structure, to moisturize the part. Using a Tewameter, a device that measures transpidermal water loss, the TEWLs (transpidermal water loss) of the subjects were measured for 8 weeks at 7-day intervals. First of all, in order to prove the damage on the skin barrier structure caused by scrub products and the Italy towel, TEWLs before the standard experiment were measured at 8.0 g/h/㎡ and 8.2 g/h/㎡, respectively, which showed similar levels. However, after the standard experiment, the TEWLs of those who applied scrub products increased to 12.1g/h/㎡while those who applied the Italy towel increased to 11.5 g/h/㎡after a 90-minute lapse. TEWLs in the control group measured 6.7 g/h/㎡ before the experimentand 7.2 g/h/㎡after a 90-minute lapse, which was a similar level of skin barrier damage to those caused by scrub cosmetics and Italy towel. Then, from the results of the experiment on skin barrier damage using scrub products or the Italy towel and the possibility of damaged skin barrier restitution by jojoba oil, subsequent experiments were conducted with the conclusion that the use of scrub products to remove dead cells damages the skin barrier. Before the experiment, TEWLs were 6.8 g/h/㎡ on the control part, 6.9 g/h/㎡ on the expected treatment part using scrub products, 6.8 g/h/㎡ on the expected treatment part using the Italy towel, and 6.9 g/h/㎡ on the expected treatment part using jojoba oil. After the final experiment in 8 weeks, the numerical values of TEWLs changed to 6.9 g/h/㎡ for the control part, 11.9 g/h/㎡ for the scrub-treated part, 13.4 g/h/㎡ for the Italy towel-treated part, and 5.6 g/h/㎡ for the jojoba oil-treated part, which means that the TEWLs on the parts treated by scrub products and Italy towelincreased, while the TEWLs on the part treated by jojoba oil decreased. Thus, jojoba oil was effective in preventing water from evaporating. In addition, the discrepancies between the TEWLs before the experiment and the average TEWLs over 8 weeks were +0.14 g/h/㎡, between 6.8 g/h/㎡ and 6.94 g/h/㎡ on the control part, which are almost similar, +4.66 g/h/㎡, between 6.9 g/h/㎡ and 11.56 g/h/㎡ on the part treated by scrub products, +6.38, between 6.8 g/h/㎡ and 13.18 on the part treated by the Italy towel, which is the most outstanding, and -0.96 g/h/㎡, between 6.8 g/h/㎡ and 5.84 g/h/㎡ on the part treated by jojoba oil, which rather decreased. From these results, we can reach the conclusion that the TEWLs on the parts treated by scrub products or the Italy towel increased due to skin barrier damage, but the TEWL on the part treated by jojoba oil decreased. The jojoba oil is effective in preventing water from evaporating, thus restituting the damaged skin barrier. From the experimental results, the excessive use of Italy towel resulting from wrong shower habits and the frequent use of scrub products can damage the skin barrier structure, which can cause skin troubles such as increased water loss rate, skin dryness and skin itching.
