      • Helicobacter pylori가 만성위염과 위종양에 미치는 영향에 관한 면역조직화학적 밑 초미세구조적 연구

        Background and Objectives : Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is accepted as a principal cause of chronic gastritis and an important factor in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer and gastric malignancy. The aim of our studies is to investigate relationships between H. pylori and gastric epithelial cells. Materials ðods : One hundred and eighty one H. pylori positive cases of gastric biopsy specimens were studied immunohistochemically and ultrastructurally. Results : p53 positive staining exhibited foveolar epithelial hyperplasia in 1 out of 32 cases, regeneration in 2 out of 12 cases, incomplete intestinal metaplasia in 5 out of 41 cases, complete intestinal metaplasia in 3 out of 18 cases, chronic ulcer in 1 out of 9 cases, tubular adenoma in 2 out of 14 cases and intestinal type of adenocarcinoma in 16 out of 21 cases. Ultrastructurally, H. pylori was observed to be in direct contact with the microvilli of the target cells and was demolishing the surface microvilli. The organisms were in close contact with the uncoated cell membrance. Penetration into the gastric cells by a few organisms was associated with marked cell damage and ultimately to cell disintegration. Conclusion : Our results suggest that H. pylori plays a role in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer, leading a relatively slow, long lasting process that induces chronic active gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia, and adenocarcinoma of intestinal type.

      • 급성 충수염으로 진단된 예측 불가 염증성 맹장 종물에 대한 외과적 고찰

        Purpose: An unexpected inflammatory cecal mass of uncertain etiology was encountered during surgery for presumed appendicitis. In this case, the surgeon couldn't exclude differential diagnosis which were severe appendicitis involving the cecal region, diverticular disease, other inflammatory bowel diseases, and neoplasm. Therefore, this finding leads to a therapeutic dilemma for the surgeon, when making surgical decisions during the operation. The aim of this study was to resolve this dilemma, a retrospective review was undertaken in this study. Methods: A retrospective study was performed to review the management of this problem at Soonchunhyang University Chunan Hospital for eight and half years from July 1991 to December 1999. A review of the emergency operation records identified 50 patients who had undergone ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy for an inflammatory ileocecal mass of uncertain etiology when operated on for probable appendicitis. Results: Altogether, 39 patients underwent ileocecal resection, and 11 patients underwent right hemicolectomy. The final pathologic diagnosis was appendiceal abscess in 32 patients (63%), cecal diverticulitis in 7 patients (14%), neoplasm in 6 patients (12%), appendiceal phlegmon in 3 patients (6%), ileal tuberculosis in 1 patient (2%) and Anisakiasis in another patient (2%). The neoplasm of the 6 neoplasm patients was ascending colon cancer for 4 patients and cecal cancer for 2 patients. There was no mortality in this group. Conclusion: Although most inflammatory cecal masses are caused by benign disease, all cases in which the intraoperative diagnosis is unclear, any pathologic diagnosis including neoplasm cannot be ruled out. So this suggest ileocecal resection or right hemicolectomy to remove a possible underlying malignancy, and to decrease morbidity and mortality.

        콩 삶은 물을 첨가한 청국장 제조시 항산화활성 및 관련 성분들의 변화

        Soybean is an important plant as the source of protein and oil, as well as phytochemicals such as genistein, daidzein, phenolic acids, phytic acid, tocopherol, and saponin. Chungkukjang, a fermented soybean paste, is cammon in Korean meals and bacillus is usually used in the fermentation of steamed soybean. For its processing, whole soybeans are boiled in water until the beams are soft, and then the drained beans are wrapped with rice straw or starter and set in a warm place at 65℃ for 3~4 days. Normally, the remaining cooked water which was drained from the steamed beans is discarded. We supposed that this water possesses high amounts of useful components, and we therefore developed a modified method using the cooked water. After fermentation, we added the remaining cooked water which had been drained from the beans to the fermented soy beans and boiled them together. To investigate the bio-functionality of the modified chusngkukjang, the total antioxidative activity, isoflavones contents, phenolic acids, and 3-deoxyglucosone (3-DG) were measured at each stage of the preparation of changkukjang, The original and modified chturgkukjang possessed l a high antioxidative activity compared with the other samples, as did the drained water after steaming of the soybean. The contents of genistein, daidzein, and phenolic acids, which contained antioxidative activity, were also increased in the original chungkukjang and their contents were similar in the modified chungkukjang. The content of 3-DG was increased in the modified chungkukjang compare with the original. It is suggested that the active soybean components delivered to the drained water during the steaming process were useful for increasing the bio-functionality of the modified chunghnkjang.

      • 5-〔3-(N-Substituted Piperazinyl)Propoxy〕Indan類의 合成과 中樞神經抑制效果

        Five new indans, 5-[3-(N-substitued piperaziny) propxy]indans, were synthesized by condensation of 5-(3-bromopropoxy)indan, the intermediate, and N-substituted piperazines. The structure of the compunds were determined by means of IR, NMR spectoscopy along with elemental analysis. Each compound was tested for antimorphine and antiamphetamine effects as part of CNS depressant effects and for muscle relaxant action in mice. Thes compound exhibited less potent activity compared to chlordiazepoxide on CNS depressant effect. Muscle reaxant action of the compounds, the side effect of tranquilizer, however, was much weaker than that of chlordiazepoxide.

      • 단감나무의 品種別 生理 및 形態的인 特性에 관한 硏究(Ⅰ) : 잎의 生理 및 形態 Physiology and Morphology of Leaves

        Experiments on the 1eaf characteristics have been carried out in sweet persimmon cultivars. The results obtained are as followings : Mikado and Daean-Dangam were the largest for leaf length, leaf width, leaf area and leaf weight in all cultivars, while Suido was the smallest for leaf width, leaf area and leaf weight. Suruga was the thickest for the leaf thickness, but Johongsi was the thinnest. The largest leaf stalk diameter was observed in Mikado and Ichimogkei-Jiro, but the smallest was Hana-Gosho. For the leaf stalk length, Kyara was the longest and Zenjimaru the shortest. For the index of leaf shape, RO-19 showed the largest as 66.5% for the south-facing leaf and 68.3% for the north-facing leaf, but Kyara and Suido showed smallest. The south-facing leaf showed large values in lcaf shape index, leaf thickness, leaf stalk diameter and leaf stalk length, but the north-facing leaf was relatively large in leaf length, leaf width, leaf area and leaf weight. For the content of chlorophyll, Hana-Gosho and RO-19 cultivars contained higher, but Yido and Bang-Gosho contained lower. In average for all cultivars, the contents of N, Ca and B were low, that of P seemed in sufficient and those of K and Mg were difficient. However, the contents of Na, Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn were moderate. The content of Al in particular, were high(81-148ppm) for all cultivars.

        A marine structural material was well known to have high tensile strength, good weldability and proper corrosion resistance . Cu-containing high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel was recently developed for their purposes mentioned above, And the steel is free about preheating for welding, therefore it is reported that shipbuilding cost by using it can be saved more or less. However the marine structural materials like Cu-containing HSLA steel are being generally adopted with cathodic protection method in severe corrosive environment like natural sea water but the high strength steel may give rise to Hydrogen Embrittlement due to over protection at high cathodic current density for cathodic protection. In this study, Cu-containing HSLA steel using well for marine atructure was investigated about the susceptibility of Hydrogen Embrittlement as functions of tensile strength, strain ratio, fracture time, and fracture mode, etc. and an optimum cathodic protection potential by slow strain rate test(SSRT) method as well as corrosion properties in natural sea water. And its corrosion resistance was superior to SS400 steel , but Hydrogen Embrittlement susceptibility of Cu-containing HSLA steel was hider than that of SS400 steel. However Hydrogen Embrittlement of its steel by SSRT method was showed with pheonomena such as decreasing of fracture time. strain ratio and fracture mode of QC (quasi-cleavage) Eventually it is suggested that an optimum cathodic protection potential not presenting Hydrogen Embrittlement of Cu-containing of HSLA steel by SSRT method was from-770mV(SCE) to - 900mV(SCE) under natural sea water.         Evaluation on the Corrosion Resistance of Three Types of Galvanizing Steels in 1% H₂SO₄ Solution

        Galvanizing method has been extensively used to the numerous constructional steels such as a guard rail of high way, various types of structural steel for ship building and various types of steels for the industrial fields etc.. However, the galvanized structures would be inevitably corroded rapidly with increasing exposed time because an acid rain due to environmental contamination has been much dropped more and more. Therefore, it has been made an effort to improve the corrosion resistance of the galvanizing film through various methods. In this study, comparison evaluation on the corrosion resistance of three types of the samples, that is, the hot dip galvanizing with pure zinc(GI), the hot dip galvanizing of alloy bath with zinc and aluminum(GL) and the pure zinc galvanizing steel immersed again to chromate treatment bath(Chro.)were investigated using electrochemical methods in 1% H₂SO₄ solution. The Chro. and GI samples exhibited the highest and lowest corrosion resistance respectively in 1% H₂SO₄ solution, however, the GI sample revealed the highest impedance at 0.01 Hz due to its high resistance polarization caused by corrosion products deposited on the surface, while Chro. sample exhibited the lowest impedance at 0.01 Hz because of little corrosion products on the surface. Consequently, it is suggested that the chromate treated steel has a better corrosion resistance in acid environment compared to pure galvanizing(GI) or galvalume(GL) steels.

        Effect of Annealing Heat Treatment to Characteristics of AlDC8 (Al-Si-Cu) Alloy

        ALDC8 (Al-Si-Cu) alloy has been often corroded with pattern of intergranular corrosion in corrosive environments. Thus, in order to improve its corrosion resistance, the effect of annealing heat treatment to corrosion resistance and hardness was investigated with parameters of heating temperatures such as 100 ℃, 200 ℃, 300 ℃, 400 ℃ and 500 ℃ for 1hr. The hardness was varied with annealing temperature and slightly decreased with annealing heat treatment. However, the relation between annealing temperature and hardness agreed not well each other. Corrosion potential was shifted to noble direction and corrosion current density was also decreased with increasing annealing temperature. Moreover, both AC impedance at 10 mHz and polarization resistance on the cyclic voltammogram curve were also increased with increasing annealing temperature. Furthermore, intergranular corrosion was somewhat observed in non heat treatment as well as annealing temperatures at 100 ℃, 200 ℃ and 300 ℃, while, intergranular corrosion was not nearly observed at annealing temperature of 400 ℃, 500 ℃. Consequently, it is considered that the annealing heat treatment of ALDC8 alloy may be an available method not only to inhibit its intergranular corrosion but also to improve its corrosion resistance.
