In this paper, we introduce a unit root test via discrete cosine transform in the AR(1) process. We first investigate the statistical properties of DCT coefficients under the stationary AR(1) process and the random walk process in order to verify the validity of the proposed method. A bootstrapping approach is proposed to induce the distribution of the test statistic under the unit root. We performed simulation studies for comparing the powers of the Dickey-Fuller test and the proposed test.
An acoustic and perceptual investigation of the vowel length contrast in Korean
이고운,신동진 한국음성학회 2016 말소리와 음성과학 Vol.8 No.1
The goal of the current study is to investigate how the sound change is reflected in production or in perception, and what the effect of lexical frequency is on the loss of sound contrasts. Specifically, the current study examined whether the vowel length contrasts are retained in Korean speakers’ productions, and whether Korean listeners can distinguish vowel length minimal pairs in their perception. Two production experiments and two perception experiments investigated this. For production tests, twelve Korean native speakers in their 20s and 40s completed a read-aloud task as well as a map-task. The results showed that, regardless of their age group, all Korean speakers produced vowel length contrasts with a small but significant differences in the read-aloud test. Interestingly, the difference between long and short vowels has disappeared in the map task, indicating that the speech mode affects producing vowel length contrasts. For perception tests, thirty-three Korean listeners completed a discrimination and a forced-choice identification test. The results showed that Korean listeners still have a perceptual sensitivity to distinguish lexical meaning of the vowel length minimal pair. We also found that the identification accuracy was affected by the word frequency, showing a higher identification accuracy in high- and mid- frequency words than low frequency words. Taken together, the current study demonstrated that the speech mode (read-aloud vs. spontaneous) affects the production of the sound undergoing a language change; and word frequency affects the sound change in speech perception.
TBL을 활용한 블렌디드 러닝 생명윤리 프로그램이 간호학과 학생들의 윤리적 의사결정 자신감, 비판적 사고성향, 도덕적 민감성, 학업자기효능감에 미치는 효과
이고운 한국농촌간호학회 2023 한국농촌간호학회지 Vol.18 No.1
Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a blended-learning based bioethics program on perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy of the nursing students living in S city. Methods: The program was conducted 13 sessions (2 hours/session) and evaluated for perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and paired t-test using the SAS 9.4 program. Results: The blended learning based bioethic program was found to be effective for perceived ethical confidence (t=8.70, p<.001), critical thinking disposition(t=8.96, p<.001), moral sensitivity (t=6.43, p<.001), academic self-efficacy (t=20.5, p<.001), and program satisfaction(t=4.92, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that a blended learning program including TBL has advantages of case-based discussion and active interaction for nursing students' bioethics education.
The production of English word-level prominence by Korean learners of English
이고운 한국음운론학회 2022 음성·음운·형태론 연구 Vol.28 No.3
Prominence refers to the relative emphasis that may be given to a syllable in a word (word-level prominence) or to one or more words in a phrase (phrase-level prominence). Korean has been claimed to have phrase-level prominence (Jun, 1996), but not word-level prominence (Lee and Jongman, 2019). Based on this claim, this study aims to investigate whether the same speakers from Lee and Jongman (2019) produce English stress pairs, and if they can, whether their production of word-level stress is expressed in a way similar to native speakers of English. Tokens produced by Korean L2 learners of English and native speakers of English were acoustically analyzed in terms of their duration, intensity, and F0 of the first and second syllables. The results indicate that Korean learners were able to use all three suprasegmental cues to indicate lexical stress in English, but were not able to acquire a new cue (i.e. vowel reduction) in expressing word-level prominence in L2. These results indicate that L2 learners are not able to acquire a new cue that does not exist as an L1 phonological category, but the L1 phonological feature will facilitate the perceptual system of the L2 learners and help them acquire L2 phonetic features.
Effects of Depression, Social Support of Tuberculosis Patients on Self-care
이고운,이혜경 한국지역사회간호학회 2022 지역사회간호학회지 Vol.33 No.4
Purpose: The purpose of this study was by understanding the correlation between the depression, social support and self-care of tuberculosis patients and by identifying the factors that influence the self-care. Methods: The study subjects were 119 outpatients who were diagnosed with pulmonary and respiratory tuberculosis at a university hospital in D city. The survey questions measured depression, social support, self-care. Using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program, the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations and multiple regression analysis. Results: As a result of correlation analysis, there was a statistically significant negative correlation between self-care and depression (r=-.53, p<.001), and there was a significant positive correlation between self-care and social support (r=.68, p<.001). Factors affecting self-care of the subjects were social support (β=.51, p<.001), depression (β=-.32, p<.001), drug discontinuation experience (β=-.30, p<.001) and drug resistance (β=-.14, p<.001). These factors explained 62% of the variance. Conclusion: In order to improve the self-care ability of tuberculosis patients, it is necessary to develop education and nursing intervention programs that can lower patients' depression and strengthen social support.
