It has been well known that leptospiroisis is a one of the prevailing acute febrile diseases in Korea. In order to find out the incidence of past infection of L. interrogans among normal population, a total of 1,171 sera obtained from rural residents and tested by microscopic agglutination test. All of normal resident's sera were collected during July in 1987, just before epidemic season, at Keochang county(248 sera), at Wanju county(145 sera), at Wonseoung county(255 sera), at Cholwon county(411 sera) and at Kongju county(112 sera). Seropositive rate against L. interrogans among rural residents was 12.0% and ranged from 2.7% in Kongju county to 18.5% in Cholwon county. There was a higher seropositive rate in males and the majority of seropositives occurred in the age group over 30 yesrs. Icterohaemorrhagiae was a most commonly reacting serotype of L. interrogans and followed by CH-48 and Canicola. The sera reacted with Cynopteri, Ballum, Australis, and Pyrogenes were present also.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate clinical practice stress, academic self-efficacy, and career identity among undergraduate students in nursing practicum. Method: This study was a descriptive correlational design using the survey method. The study included 267 undergraduate students attending to 5 college in Seoul. The data was gathered from August 2014 to October 2014 and the data were analyzed using IBM SPSS statistics version 22.0 Program with descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance with Scheffe test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results: Situational characteristics of Clinical Practice Stress(CPP) was significantly different with regards to task difficulties and efficacy self-confidence of academic self-efficacy(ASE) (r= .179, p= .003; r= .166, p= .006). Statistically significant positive relationship was founded between Personal characteristics of CPP and self-confidence of ASE (r= .239, p< .01). External regulators of CPP was significantly different according to self-confidence and task difficulties (r= .175, p= .003; r= .132, p= .028). The self-confidence and efficacy for self-confidence of ASE were a significantly correlated with Career Identity; The Career identity also was a significantly correlated with all sub-categories of CSS scale(r= -0.208, p< 0.01; r= -0.369, p< 0.01; r= -0.153, p< .011) Conclusion: This study showed positive statistical relationships associated with clinical practice stress, academic self-efficacy, and career identity as a preliminary evidence-based study for guiding education in nursing curriculum. Further research should be need for students’ future as a professional nurse.

The diagnostic value of ELISA for typhoid fever was tested with 43 sera from patients with enteric fever and 27 sera from patient who had no known history of enteric fever. IgG antibody was most commonly elevated (in 97.6%), followed by IgA (in 38.3%) and IgM antibody (in 65.1%). On the other hand, IgM and IgA antibody were found to be elevated in 40.7% of various infectious (notably due to M, tbc and gram negative enteric bacteria) and noninfectious conditions. On the contrary, IgG antibody was elevated only occasionally. (7.4%). IgG antibody was most sensitive and specific indicator for the S. typhi and S. paratyphi A infection.

The distribution, type and staining characteristics of the enterochromaffin cells in the epithelia of the gastrointestinal tract of the rabbits were observed by light microscopy. 1. The number of the EC cells in the 3.5mm breadth of the mucosa was most numerous in the region of duodenal papilla (133.2±30.4 (41.5%)), 76.6±20.6 (24.8%) in the stomach body, 50.0±18.8 (15.5%) in the jejunum, 32.8±12.6 (10.5%) in the ascending colon and 21.6±9.6 (6.9%) in the near portion of the duodenal papilla. 2. The cells in the stomach body were mostly oval or cylindrical. The cells in the villi of the duodenum, duodenal papilla and jejum were tall cylindrical or spindle in shape but were low cylindrical or spindle in the glands of that region. The EC cells in the colon were tall cylindrical or spindle on the surface of the epitheluim and low cylindrical in the glands. 3. The EC cells were appeared in yellowish-orange by Hematoxylin-eosin stain and the secretory granules in the cytoplasm if the EC cells after chromication were brownish black by Masson-Hamperl's silver staining.

A brushless DC motor has the high quality of torque output and silence, has been more widely used in industrial area. As the driver and controller of BLDC motor have been more complicated and precise, simulation method has been much used m motor design. And the output characteristics of BLDC motor is determined by the waveform of BACK-EMF in instinct. But because the conventional model of BLDC motor is obtained by approximation of real nonlinear waveform to ideal trapezoidal waveform, the error is occurred in slmulation result. Thus in this paper, for the correction of this error in simulation, the model of real nonlinear waveform considered is proposed, and the simulation result is obtained in case of three-phase, four-poles Y-connected, surface mounted permanent magnet BLDC motor.

흉부수술에서 흉관배액량에 관한 임상통계학적 연구 : 심장수술을 중심으로

A statistical study on the chest drainage of patients who were undergone heart surgery was carried out. Some interesting facts obtained through this study were as follows: 1) In this study the major causes of heart surgery were consisted of 19 different type of heart disease. Among them, Mitral stenosis was 35.8% of the total cases. Patent ductus arteriosus was 27.2% and Tetrology of Fallot was 17.2% in sequence. 2) One hundred and sixty two patients, including eighty one women and the same number of men were chosen for this study. In age distribution, 74.1 percent of all cases were between age of 0 and 29. 3) When the duration, of operation, amount of chest drain and transfusion amount were compared. between cases of open heart surgery and those closed heart surgery, the former showed statistically higher average duration and amount than those of the later. 4) The correlation coefficients between the duration of operation and amount of chest drain were r=+0.403 in cases of open heart surgery and r=+0.419 in cases of closed heart surgery, these were statistically highly significant (P<0.01) and the regression equation induced were shown as the following: (a) In cases of open heart surgery: y=15.22x-34.72 (b) In cases of closed heart surgery: y--16.11x31.55. 5) The correlation coefficient between transfusion amount and amount of chest drain were r= +0.555 in cases of open heart surgery cases and r=+0.465 in cases of closed heart surgery. These two correlations showed significantly high p-value and following regression equation were obtained. (a) In cases of open heart surgery; y=0.855x+19.102: (b) In cases of closed heart surgery; y=0.598x+25.39.

Human leptospirosis was an unfamiliar disease in Korea until 1984 that outbreak of leptospirosis occurred among farmers and soldiers after field works for harvesting rice. During that time, Lee and Jo confirmed the first Korean cases of leptospirosis by serological test, isolation of causative agent and autopy findings. Afterward several outbreaks occurred also during autumn especially after flood in every years and some characterisitcs of leptospirosis in Korea such as clinical manifestations, serotypes and seroepidemiological features has been revealed by many investigators. Because of the major mode of transmission between rodents and human is by direct contact with leptospiral urine of rodents or contaminated soil by the urine, leptospirosis in Korea has been primarily a disease of person in occupations heavily exposed to contaminated soil or infected urine such as farmer, army and etc. Therefore it seems that leptospirosis is one of the main communicable diseases to be controlled urgently in Korea, for an agricultural people account for almost half of total Korean people. For clarifying the seroepidemiological patterns of human leptospirosis in Korea by sex, month region and main reacting serovars of L. interrogans among acute febrile disease occurred in 1987, 1,773 patient's sers with acute febrile episodes were tested by microagglutination test using 19 representative strains of leptospiral serogroup as antigen. All of those sera were collected from 10 collaborative clinics located in Kyunggi, Kangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Chonbuk, Chonnam province and Seoul. The results wee summerized as follows. 1) Among 1,773 sera of patients with acute febrile episodes, 219 (12.4%) were seropositive to L. interrogans, 487(27.5%) to R. tsutsugamushi, 241(13.6%) to R.typhi and 160(90.0%) to Hantaan virus. 2) Among seropositives to L.interrogans, the male outnumbered the female, 65% and 35%. 3) For age distribution, 26.9% of seropositives to L.interrogans were fifties, 19.6% were forties, 9.1% were sixties, 5.9% were thirties and 4.1% were twenties. 4) Eighty three percent of seropositives had occurred between September and October in 1987 with a peak in September. 5) Main leptospiral serovars reactive to patient's sera were Icterohaemorrhagiae(54.3%), Canicola(31.0%), CH-48(13.2%), Tarassovi(0.9%)and Cynopteri(0.5%). 6) For regional distribution, 65.8% of seropositives to L.interrogans were residents from Chonbuk, 12.3% were Chonnam, 7.3% were Chungnam, 5.5% were Kyunggi and 1.4% were Kangwon.

Biomarker analysis in stage III–IV (M0) gastric cancer patients who received curative surgery followed by adjuvant 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin chemotherapy: epidermal growth factor receptor ( <i>EGFR</i> ) associated with favourable survival

<P>The aim of this study was to analyse the impact of epidermal growth factor receptor (<I>EGFR</I>), thymidylate synthase (<I>TS</I>), dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (<I>DPD</I>), thymidine phosphorylase (<I>TP</I>), aurora kinase (ARK) A/B, and excision repair cross-complementing gene 1 (<I>ERCC1</I>) on the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin (FP) after curative gastric resection. Normal and cancer tissue were separately obtained from gastrectomy samples of 153 patients with AJCC stage III–IV (M0) who subsequently treated with adjuvant FP chemotherapy. <I>TS</I>, <I>DPD</I>, <I>TP</I>, <I>ERCC1</I>, and ARK proteins were measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC). <I>EGFR</I> expression was investigated using a standardized IHC with the <I>EGFR</I> PharmDx assay. Amplification of <I>EGFR</I> gene was analysed using fluorescent <I>in situ</I> hybridisation (FISH). In multivariate analysis, stage, ratio of positive to removed lymph nodes, and <I>EGFR</I> expression were significant prognostic factors for overall survival. Patients with higher <I>EGFR</I> expression had better overall survival than those with lower expression (relative risk: 0.475 (95% confidence interval, 0.282–0.791, <I>P</I>=0.005). Low <I>EGFR</I> expression might be a predictive marker for relapse in curative resected stage III–IV (M0) gastric cancer patients who received adjuvant FP chemotherapy.</P>
