        The purpose of this study is to examine the observance realities of labeling system and its problems by the investigation of the labeling of clothes on sale, and to understand the relation of the clothes labeling system and consumer protection by the investigation of consumer's attitude on the clothes labeling. Labeling realities were inquired into total 321 products among 19 areas in Seoul(4 departments, 10 famous brand agencies, 3 clothing market in Myung Dong, Nam Dae Mun market, Dong Dae Mun market) and consumer's attitude investigation was executed by using inquiry paper on 331 housewives living in Seoul. The major findings are as follows, 1.Analysis of the Realities of Clothes Labeling About the brand, a commodity of the department represents high indication rate wholly but of the market low rate except children's clothing. About the size, goods of department shows high indication rate and of the market low rate considerably. About the fiber composition, woman's and children's clothes of department show 100% indication rate but others show relatively low rate, and most of the goods indicate fiber composition as a percentage. About the handling notice all goods of the department have indication but none of the markets have. Departments show high indication percentage about the maker, produced period and company's telephone number but low about manufacture's address. 2.Analysis of Consumer's Attitude on Label Those who are educated higher check labels more frequently when try buy clothes than others. Trust degree on label represents high according to education level. About the size selecting method, there is high tendency that try choose washing method the extend consulting the handling notice is higher to the higher educated person. Fiber composition indication is also understood more precisely to the higher educated person. The handling notice is well understood except ironing method. Percentage of label among consumer's dissatisfactions is low, 11.0% and the indictment rate against size is the highest. Satisfaction degree of present label system shows higher than normal and the response percentage is 81.0% that products without label have to be stuck label necessarily, therfore it seems that consumers rely on label considerably.

        Multi‑tissue lipotoxicity caused by high‑fat diet feeding is attenuated by the supplementation of Korean red ginseng in mice

        Background Excessive intake of fat, one of the causes of obesity, is associated with low-grade infammation in various susceptible organs and eventually causes tissue toxicity. This study examines the multifaceted suppressive efects of Korean red ginseng extract (KRG) on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced lipotoxicity and infammatory responses in the aorta, liver, and brain. Methods Male C57BL/6 mice were fed HFD with or without KRG for 12 weeks. The improvement efect in KRG on lipotoxicity and infammatory potential was determined in the blood and the aorta, liver, and brain tissues. Results KRG signifcantly inhibited 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase activity by >20% in vitro. KRG supplementation suppressed HFD-associated body weight gain, lipid profle changes, and excessive fat deposition in the liver and increased leptin, insulin, and ALT levels in the blood. Infammatory markers in the aorta, liver, and brain were also signifcantly reduced by KRG treatment. In microvascular endothelial cells, the 15% cyclic stretch-mediated upregulation of ICAM-1 and vascular cell adhesion protein-1 (VCAM-1) expression was signifcantly attenuated in the presence of KRG. Conclusion KRG supplementation attenuates HFD-mediated body weight gain, lipid profle changes, and multi-tissue infammatory responses.

      • 실리카흄을 흔입한 고강도 콘크리트 개발

        콘크리트 구조물이 대형화됨에 따라 설계단면이 증대되어 상대적으로 많은 경제적 손실을 부담하게 된다. 따라서 단면을 감소시키면서도 소요의 하중에 안전한 구조물을 건설하기 위해서는 우선적으로 구조물 건설에 기초가 되는 고품질, 고내구성의 고강도 콘크리트 개발이 절실히 요구된다 본 연구에서는 일정 시멘트비 및 혼화재 비율하에서 소요의 워커빌리티가 확보되는 고강도 콘크리트를 시간과 온도의 변화에 따라 증기 양생하여, 압축, 인장, 휨강도 뿐만 아니라 파괴특성을 실험적으로 연구하였다. 시료 제작시 시멘트 입자 사이의 공극 및 불연속 영역을 충전하여 고밀도화하기 위한 콘크리트용 혼화재로 시멘트 비표면적이 상당히 작은 초미립 분말인 실리카흄을 이용하였다. 또한 AE감수제 및 고성능 유동화제를 사용하여 혼화재의 첨가에 의하여 발생될 수 있는 워커빌리티의 감소를 방지하였다. 실험결과에 의하면 일정 양생 지속 시간하에서 온도의 증가에 따라 콘크리트의 압축, 인장 및 휨강도가 전반적으로 증가하였다. 동일하게 일정 온도하에서 양생 지속시간이 커짐에 따라 강도들이 증가됨을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 상대적으로 높은 온도와 긴 지속 양생 조건하에서 파괴에 대한 저항력이 크게 나타났다. The compressible, tensible, and flexibleresistance of the high strength concrete is analyzed by the experimentation in the present study. For the test, we cure several samples with the silica fume as a mixture being become dense the spaces between the particle of cement under the variation of both the temperature and the curing-interval. Then, the superplasticizer and the ezcon are also used to satisfy the required workability for construction. The compressible, tensible, and flexible resistances to a stress are increased as increasing the temperature and the time interval for the curing. Therefore it is concluded that the overal fractural and mechanical properties is improved by mixing the silica fume into the cement.

        Thymoma is associated with myasthenia gravis, Pure red cell aplasia, and autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, and hypogammaglobulinemia. It's association with aplastic anemia is rare and aplastic anemia appearing after surgical removal of thymoma is especially rare. The authors hereby report a case of aplastic anemia occuring in a patient who was diagnosed with thymoma and myasthenia gravis and had the tumor surgically removed. The patient was treated with anti-thymocyte globulin, cyclosporin, and prednisolone, and showed partial remission with hematologic improvements after 12 months.

        Preoperative Evaluation of Non-Mass-Like Enhancement on Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Tumor Extent and Affecting Surgical Margin Status in Breast Cancer Patients

        Purpose: This study investigated the correlation between non-mass-like enhancement (NME) observed on preoperative breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the actual pathological size of breast cancer. We further examined the effect of NME on the positive resection margins during partial mastectomy. Methods: We retrospectively collected data from breast cancer patients who underwent surgery between January 2018 and September 2020. Patients were divided into two groups based on their MRI findings: NME and no-NME (mass-like lesion only) groups. The medical records, including MRI findings and clinicopathological information of patients, were collected retrospectively, and correlations with pathologic results were analyzed. Propensity score matching was applied to develop comparable cohorts of the NME group and no-NME group. Results: This study included a total of 317 patients, with 66 and 251 patients in the NME and no-NME groups, respectively. The mean pathologic size of invasive lesion was significantly smaller than the mean lesion size in the NME group (1.55±1.39 cm vs. 3.45±1.81 cm, p<0.001). The mean pathologic size of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) lesions was larger than that in the NME group but without statistical significance (3.91±2.67 cm vs. 3.50±1.79 cm, p=0.326). In the NME group, NME estimated DCIS size to within 1 cm in 20 patients (30.3%) and overestimated invasive lesion size by more than 1 cm in 31 patients (46.9%). NME (vs. no-NME; odds ratio [OR], 2.967; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.878-10.025) showed a tendency to predict positive resection margins, but this was not statistically significant (p=0.080). Conclusion: NME findings on MRI showed a similar extent of DCIS lesions. NME findings on preoperative MRI should be considered an important factor for measuring the extent of tumors, especially in DCIS patients.

      • TSH 자극에 의한 FRTL-5 세포에서 p66 Shc의 발현 조절 기전

        연구배경: 갑상선종은 임상적으로 매우 흔하게 나타나지만, 아직까지 그 발생기전에 대하여 알려진 바가 적다. 갑상선 세포의 TSH 수용체 신호 전달 체계가 갑상선종의 발생에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 생각되고 있으나, 기존에 잘 알려진 신호전달 기전인 AMP/A 단백질 활성화효소 (PKA) 체계나 PKC 체계만으로는 설명하기 어려운 점이 많다. 최근 TSH가 갑상선 세포에서 p66 Shc 단백질의 발현 증가를 유도하는 것이 보고되어, p66 Shc이 TSH에 의한 세포 증식 신호전달에 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당할 가능성이 시사되었다. 목적: 본 연구에서는 TSH 자극에 따른 갑상선 세포에서의 p66 Shc의 발현 변화를 관찰하여, p66 Shc 단백질과 갑상선 세포의 증식 신호와의 연관성을 알아보고자 하였다. 또한 TSH가 p66 Shc 단백질의 발현을 조절하는 것과 연관된 신호전달 과정을 살펴보아, TSH의 p66 Shc 발현 조절 기전을 밝히고자 하였다. 방법 및 결과: FRTL-5 세포에서 TSH에 의해서 p66 Shc의 발현의 증가하고, TSH를 제고하였을 때에는 다시 기저 수준으로 감소하였다. TSH에 의한 p66 Shc의 발현 증가는 TSH 수용체 차단항체에 의하여 경쟁적으로 억제되었다. TSH에 의한 p66 Shc의 발현은 TSH를 처리한 시간과 농도에 의존적으로 증가하였고, 이러한 현상은 p66 Shc mRNA의 발현에서도 동일하게 관찰되었다. 콜레라 독소는 p66 Shc의 발현을 증가시켰으나 백일해 독소는 TSH에 의한 p66 Shc의 발현에 아무런 영향을 미치지 못하였다. cAMP/PKA 자극제(8-bromo-cAMP, forskolin)를 처리하였을 때 p66 Shc의 발현이 증가하고 cAMP/PKA 억제제(H89)에 의하여 TSH에 의한 효과가 억제되었으나, C단백질 활성화 효소 억제제(PMA, GF109203X)는 아무런 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 결론: FRTL-5 세포에서는 TSH 자극에 의존적으로 p66 Shc의 발현이 조절되었으며, 이러한 TSH의 p66 Shc 발현 조절은 주로 TSH 수용체 - Gs 단백질 - adenylate cyclase - cAMP - PKA의 신호 전달 경로를 통하여 이루어지는 것으로 생각되어진다. Background: Thyroid goiters are very common, however, the mechanism of development is not fully understood. A TSH receptor has been known to activate two different signaling pathways the cAMP/protein kinase A(PKA) and phospholipase C(PLC)/protein kinase C(PKC) systems. However, both systems are limited in the degree to which they explain the discrepancy between a goiter and TSH receptor activation. It has recently been reported that the expression of p66 She was increased by TSH stimulation in thyrocytes, suggesting that the p66 Shc molecule may play a critical role in the transition of the TSH-induced growth signals. Methods & Results: In this study, we examined the expression of p66 Shc by stimulation of TSH, and the regulatory mechanisms of the TSH-induced expression of the p66 Shc in FRTL-5 cells. In FRTL-5 cells, TSH could increase the expression of the p66 Shc, and the this expression was decreased to basal levels after the removal of TSH. The TSH-induced p66 Shc expression was competitively inhibited by TSH receptor blocking antibodies. The increments of the expression of the p66 Shc protein caused by TSH were both time and concentration dependent, and it was same in the mRNA levels. Cholera toxin increase the expression of the p66 Shc, while pertussis toxin did not. The activators of the cAMP/PKA pathway (8-bromo-cAMP and forskolin) also stimulated the expression of p66 Shc, and the PKA inhibitor H89 decreased the expression, while the inhibition of the PKC pathway by GF109203X, or PMA, affected the expression of p66 Shc very little. Conclusion: Our data suggests that p66 Shc may play an important role in regulation the growth of thyrocytes. The TSH receptor - Gs protein - adenylate cyclase - cAMP - PKA pathway mainly mediates the TSH effects on the expression of p66 Shc molecules (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 18:45∼55, 2003).

        Herbal Cocktail Sagunja Protects $H_2O_2$-induced H9c2 Cardiomyoblast Cell Death through the Induction of Heme Oxygenase-1

        Sagunjatang (Sagunja), containing Radix Astragali, Radix Ginseng, Fructus Schizandrae, Radix Ophiopogonis and Radix Glycyrrhizae, has been used as a prescription for ischemic heart and brain diseases in Korean traditional medicine. This study was designed to investigate the protective mechanisms of Sagunja on $H_2O_2$-induced cytotoxicity of H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Treatment with $H_2O_2$ resulted in death of H9c2 cells, characterized by apparent apoptotic features, including the fragmentation of nucleus and increase in sub-GO/G1fraction of cell cycle. However, Sagunja markedly suppressed the apoptotic characteristics of H9c2 cells induced by $H_2O_2$ with decrease of intracellular peroxide level. In addition, Sagunja suppressed the features of mitochondrial dysfunction, including change of mitochondrial membrane potential, in $H_2O_2$- treated cells. Additionally, Sagunja induced the expression of HO-1 protein in both time-and dose-dependent manner. The role of HO-1 in ROS-scavenging activity of Sagunja is proposed.

      • Osteopontin Levels in Patients with Papillary Thyroid Cancer According to the Presence of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

        Background: Human papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is often associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT); their coexistence improves PTC prognosis. Osteopontin, a secreted glycoprotein, plays a role in cell survival, immunity, and tumor progression, its expression being associated with a poor prognosis and metastasis in several malignancies. Osteopontin overexpression correlates with aggressive clinicopathological features in PTC. Lymph node metastases and large tumor size positively correlate with osteopontin positivity. This study aimed to: (1) confirm osteopontin overexpression in human PTC samples; (2) compare osteopontin expression levels in PTC cases with and without HT; and (3) identify correlations between tumor aggressiveness and osteopontin expression levels. Materials and Methods: Plasma osteopontin was assessed in 45 patients with PTC, 22 patients with PTC and HT, and 24 healthy controls by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Thyroid tissue osteopontin mRNA and protein levels were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting, respectively. Results: Plasma osteopontin levels were significantly higher in PTC patients than in healthy controls. Plasma osteopontin, tissue osteopontin mRNA, and tissue osteopontin protein levels were significantly lower in patients with PTC and HT than in those with PTC alone. In advanced disease stage cases, osteopontin mRNA and protein expression levels were lower in patients with PTC and HT than in those with PTC alone. However, the osteopontin expression level was not significantly associated with the TNM stage. Conclusions: Plasma osteopontin, tissue osteopontin mRNA, and tissue osteopontin protein levels were significantly lower in patients with PTC and HT than in those with PTC alone, suggesting that HT attenuates PTC aggressiveness through negative regulation of osteopontin expression.

        Successful Endoscopic Treatment of Hepatic Duct Confluence Injury after Blunt Abdominal Trauma: Case Report

        Hepatic duct confluence injury, which is developed by blunt abdominal trauma, is rare. Conventionally, bile duct injury was treated by surgical intervention. In recent decades, however, there had been an increase in radiologic or endoscopic intervention to treat bile duct injury. In a hemodynamically stable patient, endoscopic intervention is considered as the first-line treatment for bile duct injury. A 40 year-old man was transferred to the emergency department of OO trauma center after multiple blunt injuries. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography performed in another hospital showed a liver laceration with active arterial bleeding, fracture of the sacrum and left inferior pubic ramus, and intraperitoneal bladder rupture. The patient presented with hemorrhagic shock because of intra-peritoneal hemorrhage. After resuscitation, angiographic intervention was performed. After angiographic embolization of the liver laceration, emergency laparotomy was performed to repair the bladder injury. However, there was no evidence of bile duct injury on initial laparotomy. On posttrauma day (PTD) 4, the color of intra-abdominal drainage of the patient changed to a greenish hue; bile leakage was revealed on magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Bile leakage was detected near the hepatic duct confluence; therefore, a biliary stent was placed into the left hepatic duct. On PTD 37, contrast leakage was still detected but both hepatic ducts were delineated on the second ERCP. Stents were placed into the right and left hepatic ducts. On PTD 71, a third ERCP revealed no contrast leakage; therefore, all stents were removed after 2 weeks (PTD 85). ERCP and biliary stenting could be effective treatment options for hemodynamically stable patients after blunt trauma. [ J Trauma Inj 2016; 29: 93-97 ]
