Fabrication of an Automatic Color-Tuned System with Flexibility Using a Dry Deposited Photoanode

A self-powered electrochromic device was fabricated on an indium tin oxide-polyethylene naphthalate flexible substrate using a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) as a self-harvesting source; the electrochromic device was naturally bleached and operated under outdoor light conditions. The color of the organic electrochromic polymer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate, was shifted from pale blue to deep blue with an antimony tin oxide film as a charge-balanced material. Electrochromic performance was enhanced by secondary doping using dimethyl sulfoxide. As a result, the device showed stable switching behavior with a high transmittance change difference of 40% at its specific wavelength of 630 nm for 6 hrs. To improve the efficiency of the solar cell, 1.0 wt.% of Ag NWs in the photoanode was applied to the TiO2 photoanode. It resulted in an efficiency of 3.3%, leading to an operating voltage of 0.7 V under xenon lamp conditions. As a result, we built a standalone self-harvesting electrochromic system with the performance of transmittance switching of 29% at 630 nm, by connecting with two solar cells in a device. Thus, a self-harvesting and flexible device was fabricated to operate automatically under the irradiated/dark conditions.

We have developed a facile method to fabricate Ag-doped SnO2 composite film prepared via one-step kinetic spraying process. We used supersonic/subsonic nozzles to accelerate powders to their maximum kinetic energies when bombarding the substrates; no post-treatment was required. Under optimized conditions, sensors fabricated from SnO2-based films with and without Ag nanoparticles (NPs) were smooth and about 7 µm in thickness. To improve CO-sensing performance, Ag NPs (to less than 1 wt%) were added to SnO2 films. The sensor response to CO of the film with 1 wt% Ag was up to 20-fold better than that of the Ag-free film, even a low CO concentration of 500 ppm. We thus confirmed that addition of a small amount of Ag NPs to a SnO2 film increased electron transport and improved catalysis of oxygen ionization on the film surface. Therefore, we have developed a facile method of Ag-doping in composite gas sensor and this crack-free composite gas sensor was found to be highly sensitive to CO gas.

Oral microbes have the capacity to spread throughout the gastrointestinal system and are strongly associated with multiple diseases. Given that tonsils are located between the oral cavity and the laryngopharynx at the gateway of the alimentary and respiratory tracts, tonsillar tissue may also be affected by microbiota from both the oral cavity (saliva) and the alimentary tract. Here, we analyzed the distribution and association of the microbial communities in the saliva and tonsils of Korean children subjected to tonsillectomy because of tonsil hyperplasia (n = 29). The microbiome profiles of saliva and tonsils were established via 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Based on the alpha diversity indices, the microbial communities of the two groups showed high similarities. According to Spearman’s ranking correlation analysis, the distribution of Treponema, the causative bacterium of periodontitis, in saliva and tonsils was found to have a significant positive correlation. Two representative microbes, Prevotella in saliva and Alloprevotella in tonsils, were negatively correlated, while Treponema 2 showed a strong positive correlation between saliva and tonsils. Taken together, strong similarities in the microbial communities of the tonsils and saliva are evident in terms of diversity and composition. The saliva microbiome is expected to significantly affect the tonsil microbiome. Furthermore, we suggest that our study creates an opportunity for tonsillar microbiome research to facilitate the development of novel microbiome-based therapeutic strategies.
데이터 마이닝을 이용한 임상연구 데이터베이스 기반 원혈의 주치 특성

Objectives : Source acupoint is one of the representative acupoints to treat various diseases in each meridian. We aimed to identify the patterns of selection of Source acupoints and their associations with diseases using clinical trials data. Methods : We extracted the frequency of Source acupoints across 30 diseases from clinical trials database. Acupuncture treatment regimens were retrieved from the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. The frequency of Source acupoint use was calculated as the number of studies using a certain acupoint divided by the total number of included studies. Using hierarchical clustering and multidimensional scaling, the characteristics of Source acupoints were analyzed based on the similarity of the relationships between the Source acupoints and the diseases. Results : A total of 421 clinical trials were included for this analysis. LR3, HT7, KI3, and LI4 acupoints were most frequently used for the treatment of 30 diseases. Cluster analysis showed that LR3 and LI4 acupoints were grouped together and HT7 and KI3 acupoints were grouped together. Multidimensional scaling revealed that LR3, LI4, HT7, and KI3 acupoints have intrinsic properties in the two-dimensional space. Conclusions : The present study identified the selection patterns of the Source acupoints using clinical trials data. Our finding will provide the understanding of the characteristics of Source acupoints.
유리체강내 간시클로버와 포스카네트 병합 치료로 호전된 진행성외망막괴사 1예

목적: 저자들은 급성백혈병 환자에서 발생한 진행성외망막괴사가 유리체강내 항바이러스제 병합치료로 호전된 증례를 보고하고자한다. 증례요약: T 전구세포 백혈병으로 진단 받고 항암 치료 및 제대혈 조혈모세포이식을 시행 받은 11세 남자 환자에서 이마의 대상포진과우안 망막 주변부 괴사성 병변이 발생하고 빠르게 진행하였다. 환아의 뇌척수액에서 Varicella-Zoster virus가 검출되었으며 진행성외망막괴사로 진단되었다. 정맥내 acyclovir 및 foscarnet과 우안 유리체강내 foscarnet 주사치료에도 망막괴사는 진행하여 망막박리가발생하고 전체 망막괴사로 발전하였다. 이후 좌안에 새로운 망막괴사가 발견되어 정맥내 foscarnet, ganciclovir와 유리체강내foscarnet, ganciclovir 주사치료를 시행하였으며, 망막박리가 발생하였으나 망막괴사는 억제되어 후극부를 침범하지 않았다. 이후경구 valganciclovir와 유리체강내 foscarnet, ganciclovir 주사치료를 유지하며 좌안 시력을 보존하였다. Purpose: To report a case of progressive outer retinal necrosis treated by combined intravitreal foscarnet and ganciclovir. Case summary: A 11-year-old male with a history of chemotherapy and cord blood transplantation due to precursor T-cell leukemia developed Herpes zoster lesion on his forehead and rapidly progressing peripheral retinal necrosis without vasculitis in the right eye. Varicella-Zoster virus was confirmed in his cerebrospinal fluid using polymerase chain reaction (PCR); and the patient was diagnosed with progressive outer retinal necrosis. Despite combined treatment with intravenous acyclovir and foscarnet and intravitreal foscarnet, retinal necrosis progressed to retinal detachment and total retinal necrosis. During follow-up, new retinal necrosis was observed in his left eye. The patient was started on combined intravenous and intravitreal foscarnet and ganciclovir; retinal necrosis in the left eye regressed and posterior pole was spared. With subsequent oral valganciclovir and intravitreal foscarnet and ganciclovir, the remaining retina was preserved with maintained vision.
Light Weight Design of Direct-Drive Generator for Large- Scale Wind Turbine

A direct-drive generator for large-scale wind turbine provides higher energy density in comparison with a gear train type generator. An AFPM (Axial Flux Permanent Magnet)-type machine has been the most attractive for the direct-drive generator due to its highertorque effect per unit volume and higher power density. The electronic machine system with a very large diameter, however, has tobe used due to operation at low rotational speed of main shaft. Supported structures for the electronic machine system occupy at least80% of total weight of the direct-drive generator. The light weight design, therefore, is at issue in the industries manufacturing theAFPM-type generator for large-scaled wind turbines. In this study, a topology model of the direct-drive generator for 2.5MW windturbine using the AFPM-type machine was proposed, which has hollow shapes of the rotor with annular disc, the stator and the mainshaft mounted on coupled slew bearings. Analytic results obtained from an electro-magnetic and structural interaction analysisshowed that the structural weight of the proposed model compared to conventional generator can be reduced by 30% in a conditionsatisfying the requirements of the structural behaviors.

본 논문에서는 가변속 펌프 시스템에 적합한 SRM의 최적 구동을 위한 예측 방법에 대해 나타내었다. 회전자의 위치에 따른 쇄교 자속 곡선 모델링을 통하여 제안된 방법에 의해 전류의 최적 인가 시점을 테이블로 구성하였으며, 이를 기반으로 SRM 제어기 및 알고리즘을 Matlab/Simulink를 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 결과값을 나타내었다.
