      • 그람양성구균에 대한 Teicoplanin과 Vancomycin의 시험관내 항균력

        An increasing frequency of methicillin resistant S. aureus(MRSA), methicillin resistant coagulase negative staphylococci(MRCNS) and Enterococcal infection have been observed in recent years. Teicoplanin is a new glycopeptide antibiotic obstained from the Actinoplanes teicomycetius. The molecular structure and spectrum of antimicrobial activity of teicoplanin is simillar to those of vancomycin, and has been reported to have an excellent in vitro and in vivo effect against various gram-positive infections. Therefore, we evaluated the in vitor susceptibility of gram positive cocci, such as, S. aureus, coagulase negative Staphylococci(CNS), and Enterococci to teicoplanin and vancomycin. The total 253 strains consisted of MSSA(40), MRSA(53), MSCNS(47), MRCNS(48), and Enterococci(65). They were assayed by disc diffusion and agar dilution. During the study, 57% of S. aureus and 49% of CNS showed resistance to methicillin. The inhibitory diameter of teicoplanin was 15-20mm in MSSA, 12-19mm in MRSA, 13-24mm in MSCNS, 11-23mm in MRCNS, and 15-22mm in Enterococci respectively, and showed sensitivity in all but 8 strains(3.2%). The range of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of teicoplanin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS and Enterococci were 9.12-2.0㎍/ml, 0.25-2.0㎍/ml, & 0.25-32㎍/ml, 0.12-1.0㎍/ml respectively. One case of S. haemolyticus was resistant to teicoplanin (32㎍/ml) by the agar dilution method. Eight minor (3.2%) and one major(0.4%) error was observed when the MIC and disk diffusion data were correlated with teicoplanin. As for vancomycin the inhibitory diameter was 17-21mm in MSSA, 15-21mm in MRSA, 18-26mm in MSCNS, 18-25mm in MRCNS, and 16-22mm in Enterococci respectively. The range of the MIC of vancomycin to MSSA, MRSA, MSCNS, MRCNS, and Enterococci were 0.25-1.0㎍/ml, 0.25-4.0㎍/ml, 0.5-2.0㎍/ml and 0.5-2.0㎍/ml respectively. One minor error (0.4%) was seen with the vancomycin disk. The MIC90 of MSSA and MRSA exhibited the same results in teicoplanin (1.0㎍/ml, 1.0㎍/ml), and vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). MSCNS and MRCNS exhibited greater MIC90 with teicoplanin(4.0㎍/ml, 8.0㎍/ml) than vancomycin(2.0㎍/ml, 2.0㎍/ml). Incontrase Enterococci were more susceptible to teicoplanin(0.5㎍/ml) than to vancomucin (2.0㎍/ml). Results from this analysis indicated that both teicoplanin and vancomycin were very excellent for gram positive infections, especially those resistant to methicillin.

        한국인 성인 남성 폐쇄성수면무호흡 환자의 측모 두부 방사선계측학적 비교

        본 연구는 비만도에 따른 한국인 남성 폐쇄성수면무호흡 환자의 측모 두부 방사선계측학적 특성을 파악하기 위하여 시행되었다. 이를 위하여 계명대학교 의과대학 동산의료원 수면클리닉에 수면장애를 주소로 내원하여 수면다원검사 후 치과에서 측모 두부방사선계측사진 촬영을 한 87명의 성인 환자들을 체질량지수(BMI)와 수면무호흡지수(AHI)에 따라 비비만 단순코골이군(Non-obese, simple snorers), 비만 단순코골이군(Obese, simple snorers), 비비만 수면 무호흡군(Non-obese, OSA patients), 비만 수면무호흡군(Obese, OSA patients)의 4군으로 나누어 비교하였다. 그결과, 4군 중 비만 수면무호흡군의 수면무호흡지수가 가장 컸으며, 비만 수면무호흡군보다 비비만 수면무호흡군의 하악각이 더 크고 혀 길이는 더 작았다. 또한, 비비만 수면무호흡군보다 비만수면무호흡군의 설골이 더 전하방에 위치하였고, 수면무호흡지수에 영향을 미치는 기여 인자는 비만 수면무호흡군에서는 혀 길이, 비비만 수면무호흡군에서는 설골의 후방위치였다. 이처럼 비만 수면무호흡 환자와 비비만 수면무호흡 환자의 측모 두부방사선계측학적 특성과 기여 인자가 다르게 나타나므로, 치료방법도 따라서 다르게 선택해야 할 것이다. 비만 수면무호흡 환자들에게는 먼저 체중감량이 권고되어야 할 것이고, 비비만 수면무호흡 환자들은 폐쇄부위에 따라 구강 내 장치나 Nasal CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), UPPP (uvulopalatopharyngoplasty) 등이 추천될 수 있을 것이다. Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the cephalometric measurements of obese and non-obese Korean male patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA). Methods: Eighty-seven adults who had visited the Sleep Disorder Clinic Center in Keimyung University, Daegu, Korea were examined and evaluated with polysomnography (PSG) and lateral cephalogram. They were divided into 4 groups (non-obese simple snorers, obese simple snorers, non-obese OSA patients, obese OSA patients) according to AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index) and BMI (Body Mass Index). Results: The obese OSA group had the highest AHI among the 4 groups. The non-obese OSA group had a significantly steeper mandibular angle and shorter tongue length than the obese OSA group. The hyoid bone of the obese OSA group was positioned anterior and inferior as compared with the non-obese OSA group. Multiple regression analysis showed that tongue length in the obese OSA group and retroposition of hyoid bone in the non-obese OSA group were significant determinants for the severity of AHI. Conclusions: From a cephalometric point of view, the obese and non-obese pateints with OSA may be characterized by different pathogeneses. Therefore, they have to be managed by individualized treatment. For the obese OSA patients, weight control must be advised as a first choice and for the non-obese OSA patients, oral appliance, nasal CPAP, UPPP and others could be chosen according to the obstructive sites.

      • 본딩 웨이퍼 검사를 위한 모델링 연구

        본 논문에서는 레이저 빔 투과를 이용한 본딩 웨이퍼 검사 방법을 제안하고 검사 장치를 설계 구현하였다. 1064nm파장에서의 정상웨이퍼를 일정한 비율로 투과하였다. 본딩 불량으로 인한 웨이퍼의 기공은 두께에 따라 투과율이 현저하게 변화하여 기공 부분을 검출하였다. 이러한 기공은 두께의 변화가 있으며 광량의 변화하는 부분이 에어갭으로 인식 카메라로 쉽게 구분이 가능하였다.

        염증성 장질환 환자에서 수술 후 감염

        목적: 최근 염증성 장질환 치료에 면역억제제와 면역조절제는 주된 역할을 하고 있다. 크론병 환자의 70%, 궤양성 대장염 환자의 32%가 평생 1회 이상 수술 치료를 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 스테로이드와 6-MP/AZA로 치료 받는 염증성 장질환에서 예정된 장 수술이 시행되는 경우가 많다. 저자들은 스테로이드 또는 6-MP/AZA를 사용하는 환자에서 수술 후 감염 위험성이 높아지는지 여부를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1986년 1월에서 2005년 12월까지 경희의대 부속병원에서 예정된 장 수술을 시행 받은 모든 크론병 (n=25)과 궤양성 대장염 환자(n=19)를 대상으로 하였다. 나이, 성별, 유병 기간, 수술 시행 이유, 수술 시간, 수술 종류, 수술 후 감염 유형, 입원 기간, 스테로이드와 6-MP/AZA 사용, 수술 전 검사 결과 등의 의무기록을 후향 조사하였다. 27명은 스테로이드 단독으로 복용 중이었고, 6명은 6-MP/AZA 단독 또는 6-MP/AZA와 스테로이드를 사용 중이었고, 16명은 스테로이드와 6-MP/AZA 모두 사용하지 않았다. 결과: 수술 받은 염증성 장질환 중 17명(38.6%)에서 수술 후 감염이 발생하였고, 수술 부위 감염(76.5%) 빈도가 가장 높았다. 수술 시행 이유로는 약물에 반응을 보이지 않은 경우 (40.9%)가 가장 많았고, 이 경우 수술 후 감염의 빈도 또한 높았다(58.8%, p=0.032). 염증성 장질환 환자 중, 스테로이드 치료군은 약물을 사용하지 않은 군보다 수술 후 감염률이 높았다(p=0.039). 스테로이드에 추가로 6-MP/AZA를 사용한 군은 스테로이드 단독 사용 군 보다 수술 후 감염 발생률이 높지 않았다(p=0.415). 결론: 예정된 장 수술을 시행 받은 염증성 장질환 환자에서 수술 전 스테로이드 치료는 수술 후 감염 합병증의 위험성을 증가시켰다. 스테로이드에 추가로 6-MP/AZA를 사용한 환자들은 수술 후 감염 합병증이 유의하게 증가하지 않았다. Background/Aims: The clinical course of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) frequently leads to the use of immunosuppressants and immunomodulators. We investigated the risk of postoperative infection in patients with IBD undergoing elective bowel surgery and whether the use of corticosteroid (CS) and/or 6-mercaptopurine/azathioprine (6-MP/AZA) before surgery was associated with the increased risk of postoperative infection. Methods: Patients who were diagnosed as Crohn`s disease (n=25) or ulcerative colitis (n=19) and underwent elective bowel surgery between 1986 and 2005 were identified. Medical records were retrospectively analyzed including age, sex, duration of disease, indication for surgery, duration of surgery, type of surgery, type of postoperative infection, admission period, usage of CS and 6-MP/AZA, and preoperative laboratory values. There were 27 patients receiving CS alone, 6 patients receiving 6-MP/AZA alone or with CS, and 16 patients receiving neither CS nor 6-MP/AZA. Results: There were 17 postoperative infections (38.6%) among IBD patients who had undergone surgery and wound infection was the most common type of infection (76.5%). In IBD patients, patients receiving CS had higher postoperative infection rate than those patients receiving neither CS nor 6-MP/AZA (p=0.039). Patients receiving CS in conjunction with 6-MP/AZA did not have significantly higher postoperative infection rate than those with CS only (p=0.415). Conclusions: Preoperative use of CS in patients with IBD is associated with the increased risk of postoperative infections. Addition of 6-MP/AZA in patients receiving CS does not increase the risk of postoperative infections. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2006;48:306-312)

      • Electrochemical properties of the NiS powder prepared by co-precipitation method for lithium secondary battery.

        <P>We synthesized two nickel sulfide powders by simple method. One is nickel sulfide powder (CNS) by co-precipitation is composed of nano-sized nickel sulfides as NiS and NIS2. The other is nickel sulfide powder (HNS) by heat-treatment of CNS is composed nano-sized NIS. The electrode using CNS has a high first discharge capacity of 600 mA h g(-1) at 0.5 C and the discharge capacity after 20th cycle is 312 mA h g(-1). The electrode using HNS has a high first discharge capacity of 551 mA h g(-1) at 0.5 C and has the discharge capacity of 412 mA h g(-1) after 50th. The discharge rate capability has over 92% at 1 C versus 0.2 C. The nano-sized nickel sulfides are synthesized by simple co-precipitation method has good electrochemical properties such as high first discharge capacity, good cycle life and good rate capability for lithium secondary battery.</P>

        Electrochemical properties of Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> thin film fabricated by electrostatic spray deposition for lithium-ion batteries

        <P> Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> thin films are important for the fabrication of rechargeable lithium microbatteries. Thin films of Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> were prepared by the electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technique by using iron chloride as the precursor. The thin film electrodes, without inert additives such as polymer binder and conducting material, can deliver a first discharge capacity of 912 mA h g<SUP>−1</SUP> and retain a discharge capacity of 537 mA h g<SUP>−1</SUP> at a current density of 200 mA g<SUP>−1</SUP> to the 100th cycle. The coulombic efficiency of the Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> thin-film electrode was over 96% after several cycles.</P>

      • Isolation of 151 Mutants that Have Developmental Defects from T-DNA Tagging

        <P>In order to understand the mechanisms underlying plant development, a necessary first step involves the elucidation of the functions of the genes, via the analysis of mutants that exhibit developmental defects. In this study, an activation tagging mutant library harboring 80,650 independent <I>Arabidopsis</I> transformants was generated in order to screen for developmental mutants. A total of 129 mutants manifesting dominant developmental abnormalities were isolated, and their T-DNA insertion loci were mapped. The activation of one or more genes adjacent to a T-DNA insertion locus was confirmed in eight dominant mutants. A gene adjacent to the right border was usually activated by the 35S enhancers. Interestingly, the transcriptional activation of multiple genes within a broad range was observed in one of the mutants, which raises the possibility that activation by the 35S enhancers was not limited strictly to a single gene. In order to gain a better understanding of sexual reproduction in higher plants, we isolated 22 mutants exhibiting defects in female gametophyte development, and determined their T-DNA insertion loci. We propose that this mutant population may prove useful in the further determination of the functions of genes that play important roles in plant development.</P>
