명화감상을 통한 언어활동이 유아의 어휘력 및 언어표현력에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Linguistic Activities Using Famous Paintings on Young Children's Vocabulary and Language Expression

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study intends to investigate the effects of linguistic activities using famous paintings on young children's vocabulary and children's language expression and to offer the basic data to be used in the field of early childhood education.
In accordance with the aims of the study, the research questions are as follows:1. What are the effects of linguistic activities using famous paintings on young children's vocabulary?2. What are the effects of linguistic activities using famous paintings on young children's language expression?The subjects of this study were 36 5-year-old children who attend S Child Care Center in Seoul. One group of children participated in the study as an experimental group(18 children) and the other as a control group(18 children).
Linguistic activities using famous paintings were performed 2 times a week for 8 weeks, total 16 times, from 19th of May to 9th of July, 2009. The experimental group participated in the linguistic activities using famous paintings for 50～55 minutes during free-choice activity time while the control group participated in free-choice activities.
The results of this study are the following:The linguistic activities using famous paintings had positive effects on young children's linguistic ability. The experimental group had higher vocabulary and language expression scores compared with the control group. They also had higher scores on expressive vocabulary, number of sentences and length of sentences. Such results showed that young children had many opportunities to tell their own opinions and listened to those of peers through the various linguistic activities using famous paintings and as a result their linguistic abilities had been improved.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 명화감상을 통한 언어활동이 유아의 어휘력 및 언어표현력에 미치는 효과를 알아봄으로써 유아의 어휘력 및 언어표현력을 증진시키기 위한 효율적인 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울시에 위치한 S어린이집 만 5세 두 학급을 실험집단 18명, 통제집단 18명으로 하여 8주간 주 2회씩 총 16회의 명화감상을 통한 언어활동을 실시하였다. 총 16회의 명화감상을 통한 언어활동을 실시한 결과 실험집단의 유아들은 통제집단의 유아들에 비해 어휘력 및 언어표현력에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육현장에서 다양한 언어활동의 교수매체로 명화작품이 의미 있게 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
