민화감상활동이 유아의 어휘력 및 이야기 구성력에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Korean Folk Painting(Minhwa) Appreciation on Child's Vocabulary and Story-Making Ability

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 민화를 감상하는 활동이 유아의 어휘력과 이야기 구성력에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 하였다.
본 연구의 대상은 통영시에 소재한 G유치원 2학급 48명의 유아를 대상으로 실시하였으며, 실험집단은 A반 24명이며, 통제집단은 M반 24명이었다. 본 연구에 사용된 연구도구는 어휘력과 이야기 구성력 도구이며 정미경(2002)의 도구를 수정·보완하여 사용하였다. 연구절차는 2006년 10월16일부터 12월22일까지 10주에 걸쳐 사전검사, 프로그램 실시, 사후검사 순으로 진행하였다. 연구는 사전검사, 실험처치, 사후검사의 순서로 진행되었다.
본 연구의 실험처치는 실험집단 유아들은 선정된 민화를 중심으로 생각 모으기, 민화속의 인물과 대화하기, 민화 속 인물에게 편지쓰기, 역할극 대본 만들기와 역할극하기, 응원가와 노랫말 만들기, 병풍동화 만들기, 화가에게 편지쓰기, 와 초청장 쓰기, 후속 이야기 만들기, 민화의 다른 제목 만들기, 만화 만들기, 동시 만들기, 머리띠나 가면 만들기, 점토나 색종이로 민화 꾸미기, 여러 가지 재료에 민화 그려보기, 민화의 부분도 더 그려 넣기 등의 활동에 참여하였다. 통제집단의 유아들은 실험집단의 유아들과 동일한 민화를 감상하였으며 민화 속의 인물 신체표현하기, 찰흙, 점토 등으로 협동작품 만들기, 여러 가지 재료에 민화 그려보기, 민화 퍼즐 만들기, 민속놀이 하기, 초청장 만들기, 세밀화 그려보기, 민화 그림책, 달력, 족자 만들기, 꼴라주와 모자이크로 민화 꾸미기, 병풍 만들기, 색종이 접어서 민화 꾸미기 등과 같은 활동에 참여하였다.
본 연구의 자료 분석은 유아들의 어휘력과 이야기 구성력 점수를 채점하여 SPSS 12.0에 코딩 한 후 분석하였으며, 사전검사 점수가 집단별로 차이가 있는지 검정하기 위하여 독립표본 t-검정(paired t-test)을 적용하였고, 집단 간 사전검사 점수에 유의미한 차이가 없는 것을 확인한 후 사후검사에 대해 독립표본 t-검정(paired t-test)을 적용하였다.
본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 민화감상활동을 통한 유아의 어휘력 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 민화감상활동에 참여한 실험집단의 유아들의 어휘력이 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 유아들은 민화 속에 담겨진 우리 전통문화를 자연스럽게 접할 수 있으며 그 시대의 생활을 상상하고 창의적으로 언어로 표현하고 우리 고유의 어휘를 자연스럽게 습득 할 수 있게 되었다.
둘째, 민화감상활동을 통한 유아의 이야기 구성력 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 민화감상활동에 참여한 실험집단의 유아들의 이야기 구성력 발달이 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 유아들은 민화감상에 대한 이해가 향상되었음을 알 수 있는데 구체적으로 단순한 내용 및 정보를 사용하여 이야기 내용을 짜임새 있게 구성하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study tried to survey the effect of Korean folk painting appreciation on child's vocabulary and story-making ability.
The targets of study were 48 children of G kindergarten located in Tongyeong City. Their experimental group consisted of 24 children of A class and control group consisted of 24 children of M class. As study tools, vocabulary and story-making tools were used and the tool of Jung Mi-Gyung(2002) were modified and reinforced. Pre-inspection, program operation and post-inspection were performed over 10 weeks from October 16 to December 22, 2006. The study was performed in the order of pre-inspection, experiment and post-inspection.
For the experiment of the study, children of experimental group participated in the process to collect opinions about selected Korean folk painting, talk with the people of Korean folk painting, write letter to people of Korean folk painting, make script of role play and play the role, make rooter's song and its words, make folding screen fairy tale, write letter to painter, write invitation letter, make follow-up story, make other title of Korean folk painting, make cartoon, make children's verse, make hairband or mask, decorate the painting with clay or colored paper, paint Korean folk painting on various materials and add partial painting in Korean folk painting. Children of control group appreciated the same Korean folk painting and participated in the process to express the people of Korean folk painting, make cooperative work with clay or colored paper, paint Korean folk painting on various materials, make Korean folk painting puzzle, play folk game, make invitation letter, paint miniature painting, make cartoon picture book, calendar and scroll, decorate Korean folk painting with collage and mosaic, make folding screen and decorate Korean folk painting by folding colored paper.
The data of study was analyzed by marking child's vocabulary and story-making ability and coding them in SPSS 12.0. In order to verify whether the scores of pre-inspection are different by group, paired t-test was applied. Paired t-test was applied to the scores of post-inspection after checking whether there are significant difference in the scores of pre-inspection between groups.
The study result is summarized as follows.
First, from the result of surveying the effect of Korean folk painting appreciation on the development of child's vocabulary, it was found that the vocabulary of children of experimental group, who participated in Korean folk painting appreciation, was improved. Child could face the traditional Korean culture naturally, imagine the life of the period, express it with language creatively and achieve the Korean language naturally.
Second, from the result of surveying the effect of Korean folk painting appreciation on the development of child's story-making ability, it was found that the story-making ability of children of experimental group, who participated in Korean folk painting appreciation, was improved. Child could improve the understanding of Korean folk painting appreciation. Specifically, child could make the story systematically with simple contents and information.
