Creativity is an important thinking faculty that enables producing ideas appropriate for solving impending problems, and that is necessary for adapting to future society. That faculty requires expansion of experience. And linguistic experience is regarded as of great importance in that it could broaden the scope of children's thinking and stimulate new thought.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of language play activity utilizing newspapers on infant's creative thinking faculty.
The subject for this study were 80 children at a kindergarten(a class of age 5) in Taegu city. The subject was divided into test group and control group. The results of the study got verified by Infant's Synthetic Creativity Scale.
The language play the researcher produced was applied to test group, and the common language play was applied to control group. The relation between the growth of creative thinking faculty and language play activity utilizing newspapers was reviewed and analyzed by means of statistical method SPSS Windows 7.5.
Followings are the results of this study ;
Firstly, after the test on 5 years old kindergarten children, the test group that performed language play utilizing newspapers showed creativity extended more than the control group that received common language education.
Secondly, as for creativity according to scales, the test group showed special extension of fluency, that is, the ability to produce as many ideas and solutions as possible in particular situation, and imaginative faculty, that is, the ability to form new presentations related to plan future behavior on the basis of past experience.
As for creativity according to sections, the test group showed special extension of language section in which all the aspects like language, body and figure are developed equally.
Lastly, In the language play utilizing newspapers, generally there was no difference in the extension of creativity between sexes, but in detail, female children showed a significantly higher extension in imaginative faculty and body section than male children.
