        광중합기의 광원에 따른 브라켓 전단결합강도 비교

        제논 플라즈마 아크 광중합기나 LED 광중합기가 치과영역에 소개된 이후로 기존의 텅스텐 할로겐 광중합기를 사용할 때에 비해 교정장치의 부착시간이 현저하게 줄어들 수 있게 되었다. 제논 플라즈마 아크 광중합기에 대한 중합시간과 전단강도에 대해서는 여러 연구가 있어왔던 반면, LED 광중합기를 이용하여 교정용장치의 부착을 위한 중합시간에 대한 연구는 미진하다. 본 연구의 목적은 LED 광중합기의 중합시간에 따른 결합강도를 플라즈마 아크 광중합기와 비교하여 적절한 브라켓의 부착강도를 얻기 위해 요구되는 중합시간을 알아보는데 있다. 120개의 발치된 사람의 소구치에 컴포짓 레진으로 브라켓을 부착시킨 후 4초, 6초, 8초 동안 플라즈마 아크 광원과 LED 광원으로 각각 중합시켰다. 그 후 결합강도를 만능시험기(Universal Testing Machine)로 계측한 결과, 플라즈마 아크 광중합기에서는 4초 이상에서, LED 광중합기에서는 8초 이상의 중합시간에서 기존의 할로겐 광원을 40초간 노출시켰을 때와 비슷한 전단결합강도를 나타내었다. 플라즈마 아크 광중합기와 LED 광중합기의 중합시간이 접착제 잔류지수(adhesive remnant index) 수치에 대해 영향을 미치지 않았다. With the introduction of the xenon plasma arc curing light and the LED curing light as orthodontic curing lights, the polymerizing time of orthodontic composites has clearly decreased. In contrast to various research cases regarding the polymerization time and bond strength of the xenon plasma arc curing light, not enough research exists on the LED curing light, including the appropriate polymerization time. The objective of this research was to compare the bond strength of the plasma curing light and the LED curing light in regards to the polymerization time. The polymerization time needed to achieve an appropriate adhesion strength of the bracket has also been studied. After applying orthodontic brackets using composite resin onto 120 human premolars, the plasma arc curing light and the LED curing light were used for polymerization for 4, 6, and 8 seconds accordingly. This research proved that the LED curing light provided appropriate bond strength for mounting orthodontic brackets even with short seconds of polymerization. The expensive cost and large size of the device limits the use of the plasma arc curing light, whereas the low cost and easy handling of the LED curing light may lead to greater use in orthodontics.

        한국해안으로부터 Purple, Non-Sulfur Photosynthetic Bacterium, Rhodobacter sp. EGH-24의 분리 및 특성

        A species of facultative photo-organotrophic, purple, non-sulfur bacterium was isolated from the 47 point at west and south coast of Korea in September 2001. Separated 13 samples of changes with red color under 28~32 ℃, 3000 lux, anaerobe conditions for 7 days cultivated in basal medium. For pure isolation from 13 samples, we used agar-shake tube method (0.4 % agar) and separated 5 strains through 13-repetition test. EGH-24 and EGH-30 was identified as the same strain through the RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA)-PCR of strain EGH-9, EGH-13, EGH-23, EGH-24, EGH-30. Four isolates cultivated in synthesis wastewater for wastewater biodegradation test. EGH-24 was selected with efficient wastwater treating strain. Based on the results obtained from morphology, nutrient requirements, major bacteriochlorophyll content, 16S-rDNA phylogenetic analysis, EGH-24 strain may be identified as a new strain of the genus Rhodobacter and named Rhodobacter sp. EGH-24.

        신제품이 개발 출시되어 크게 성장 할 수 있다는 것은 그것을 채택, 수용해 줄 수 있는 혁신층과 조기수용자 층의 소비자 구조를 가지고 있어야만 한다. 신제품 수용자의 조기 확보는 신제품 개발에 소요된 비용은 조기에 보충할 수 있고, 많은 고객을 확보하여 매출의 증대가 용이하고, 마케팅비용의 감소를 가져올 수 있으며. 시장에서 리더십을 가짐으로써 효과적 시장 진입이 되기도 한다. 이와 같이 신제품의 수용과 확산의 연구에서 혁신성이 차지하는 중요도가 매우 높기 때문에 많은 관심을 끌어 온 것이 사실이다. 그러나 이러한 혁신과 수용성 연구의 중요성에 비추어 혁신성에 대한 발견 사실의 모호성과 함께 관련변수에 관한 끊임없는 논의가 지속되어 왔고, 동시에 혁신성 연구가 지금까지 취하여 왔던 방향과 주제에 관련해서도 많은 비판이 이루어져 온 것도 사실이다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구에서는 아직 논리적으로나 실체적으로 방법론이 확립되어 있지 않은 디자인 혁신의 개념을 새롭게 정립하고 그 특징과 요소를 분석하고 객관적인 기준으로 변한 할 수 있는 지표를 찾는다. 또한 디자인 혁신에 있어서 유사성 판단에 관한 실험을 통해 제품 집단의 유형과 기준을 명확히 파악하고 각 샘플의 공간 해석과 함께 시자극적 특성을 정량적으로 평가하는 실험적 이론으로 사용하고자 한다. 이는 디자인에 있어서의 혁신을 인지하고 각 제품 속에 속한 샘플들을 특징별로 지각하는 보다 과학적인 디자인 접근방법에 관해 새로운 방향을 모색할 수 있도록 하였다. In addition, through the judgment of the similarity In the design innovation, it tries to identify clearly the types and the standard of the set of the products, Interpret the space of each sample, and use it as the experimental theory to evaluate the visual characteristics, Thus it can perceive innovation of the design. perceive the characteristics of the samples in each products, and find the new direction in the more scientific access to design.

        Background : The cun measurement System, an essential and convenient method in locating acupoints, has been widely used in the practice of acupuncture. However, traditional cun measurement has been criticized for its lack of reliability. Objectives : The purposes of this study are to determine if one cun measured by the directional methods have a consistency with that of proportional methods and to investigate which factors are related with these differences, especially in forearm. Methods : The distance between the elbow crease and the wrist crease of forearm was compared to a reference value of one cun obtained by the directional method. In this method, one cun is one third of the distance between index finger and Small finger of a subject, measured at proximal interphalangeal joint. In addition, to investigate the factors influencing the differences between these two methods, we measured the height and body weight and calculated body mass index (BMI). Finally we analyzed the factors correlated with these lengths by linear regression test. Results : The results showed that one cun obtained by the directional methods were significantly different from one cun by the proportional methods in forearm. It was demonstrated that the length acquired with the directional method was more correlated with body weight and body mass index, while the length obtained by the proportional method was more correlated with the height.

        Complementary DNA encoding chloroplast outer envelope membrane protein (OEP) from the halophyte Salicornia herbacea has been cloned and sequenced. The full length cDNA is 596 bp and encodes a polypeptide of 91 amino acid residues with a molecular mass of 8.9 kDa. The expression level of ShOEP increased by salt, drought and ABA treatments. ShOEP expression was largely induced in roots and shoots by high salts. The biological function of ShOEP was examined by yeast complementation. ShOEP can suppress Na+ sensitivity of yeast mutant (cnbΔ) in the presence of salt. These results suggest that ShOEP is a salt inducible gene and may have functions in the regulation of plant salt stress.

        Cytokinins are essential plant hormones that play crucial roles in various aspects of plant growth and development. To better understand the molecular mechanisms of cytokinin action, we identified cytokinin related proteins by a proteomic approach. Proteins extracted from control and trans-zeatin treated Arabidopsis seedlings were separated and analyzed by two dimensional gel analysis. Differentially expressed protein spots were identified with peptide mass fingerprinting based on matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry and database searching. We obtained ten up-regulated and one down-regulated proteins upon t-zeatin treatment. The expression of the following proteins was induced; pollen allergen like protein, L-ascorbate peroxidase, tetrapyrrole methylase family protein, SGT1 protein homolog, disease resistance related protein, maternal embryogenesis control protein, paxneb related protein, gluthathione S-transferase and IAA amino acid hydrolase homolog.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        Long-term Clinical Outcomes and Prognostic Factors After Endovascular Treatment in Patients With Chronic Limb Threatening Ischemia

        Background and Objectives: Endovascular therapy (EVT) first strategy has been widely adopted for the treatment of chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI) patients in real-world practice. This study aimed to investigate long-term outcomes of CLTI patients who underwent EVT and identify prognostic factors. Methods: From the retrospective cohorts of a Korean multicenter endovascular therapy registry, 1,036 patients with CLTI (792 men, 68.8 ± 9.5 years) were included. The primary endpoint was amputation-free survival (AFS) defined as the absence of major amputation or death. Secondary endpoints were major adverse limb events (MALE; a composite of major amputation, minor amputation, and reintervention). Results: Five-year AFS and freedom from MALE were 69.8% and 61%, respectively. After multivariate analysis, age (hazard ratio [HR], 1.476; p<0.001), end-stage renal disease (ESRD; HR, 2.340; p<0.001), Rutherford category (RC) 6 (HR, 1.456; p=0.036), and suboptimal EVT (HR, 1.798; p=0.005) were identified as predictors of major amputation or death, whereas smoking (HR, 0.594; p=0.007) was protective. Low body mass index (HR, 1.505; p=0.046), ESRD (HR, 1.648; p=0.001), femoropopliteal lesion (HR, 1.877; p=0.004), RC-6 (HR, 1.471; p=0.008), and suboptimal EVT (HR, 1.847; p=0.001) were predictors of MALE. The highest hazard rates were observed during the first 6 months for both major amputation or death and MALE. After that, the hazard rate decreased and rose again after 3–4 years. Conclusions: In CLTI patients, long-term outcomes of EVT were acceptable. ESRD, RC-6, and suboptimal EVT were common predictors for poor clinical outcomes.

      • S-165 : Diverse geometric changes related to dynamic LVOT obstruction without overt HCM

        Background: Dynamic left ventricular (LV) outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction (LVOTO) is not rarely observed in subjects without overt hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, its geometrical determinants and clinical implication have not been fully investigated. Method: We analyzed echocardiographic images diagnosed as dynamic LVOTO with Valsalva maneuver from 2008 to 2012 in a single tertiary referral hospital. Dynamic LVOTO was defined as trans-LVOT peak pressure gradient (PG) higher than 30 mmHg at resting or provoked by Valsalva maneuver without fixed structural stenosis. Exclusion criteria were patients with classical HCM, acute myocardial infarction, stress induced cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and unstable hemodynamics which potentially induce transient-LVOTO. Results: Total 168 patients were studied. Mean age was 71±11 years and 98 were women. They were classified as “pure sigmoid septum” (n=75) defined as basal septal bulging but diastolic thickness less than 12 mm, “sigmoid septum with basal septal hypertrophy (≥12 mm)” (n=24), “prominent papillary muscle (PPM)” (n=20), defined by visually big papillary muscle which occludes LV cavity during systole and “small LV cavity with concentric remodeling” (n=49) groups. PPM group was younger, had higher S`, lower E/e` and left atrial volume index than the others. However, resting and Valsalva-induced LVOT PG were not different. In all groups, higher peak trans-LVOT PG was related to higher basal septal thickness (BST), E/e`, right atrial pressure (RAP) and pulmonary arterial systolic pressure (PASP). In multivariate analysis, resting trans-LVOT PG was correlated to PASP (ß=0.230, p=0.005) after adjustment for E/e`, BST and RAP. Conclusion: Dynamic LVOTO developed from various geometric changes, among them PPM group has distinct characteristics suggesting different etiology. LVOTO relieving medication might potentially reduce pulmonary pressure in this group of patients.

        Objectives: We sought to investigate the influence of the extent of myocardial injury on left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic function in patients after reperfused acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: Thirty-eight reperfused AMI patients underwent cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging afterpercutaneous coronary revascularization. The extent of myocardial edema and scarring were assessed by T2 weighted imaging and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging, respectively. Within a day of CMR, echocardiography was done. Using 2D speckle tracking analysis, LV longitudinal, circumferential strain, and twist were measured. Results: Extent of LGE were significantly correlated with LV systolic functional indices such as ejection fraction (r=-0.57, p<0.001), regional wall motion score index (r=0.52, p=0.001), and global longitudinal strain (r=0.56, p<0.001). The diastolic functional indices significantly correlated with age (r=-0.64, p<0.001), LV twist (r=-0.39, p=0.02), average non-infarcted myocardial circumferential strain (r=-0.52, p=0.001), and LV end-diastolic wall stress index (r=-0.47, p=0.003 with e`) but not or weakly with extent of LGE. In multivariate analysis, age and non-infarcted myocardial circumferential strain independently correlated with diastolic functional indices rather than extent of injury. Conclusions: In timely reperfused AMI, age and non-infarcted myocardial function rather than the extent of myocardial injury was more related to LV chamber diastolic function.
