      • 중독한 추체로 증상을 보인 cyclosporine에 의한 뇌증 1예

        The use of cyclosporine(CsA), a potent immunosuppressive agent, is associated with numerous side effects. Neurotoxicity was earlier less well known, but with growing experience central nervous system side effects are now reported up to 40% of patients. Among various CsA-induced neurotoxicities, tremor is most common and posterior leukoencephalopathy is well characterized. An encephalopathy presenting with pyramidal weakness, however, seems to be rare and poorly documented. We report here a case of encephalopathy presenting with multiple generalized seizures followed by fluctuating quadriparesis developed a few days after starting CsA and resolved spontaneously after withdrawal of the drug . A 48-year-old woman with aplastic anemia was placed upon immmunosuppressive treatment consisting of antithymocyte globulin(ATG), CsA, and methylprednisolone. Two days after starting the therapy, she developed a generalized seizure. The next day she developed 2 more episodes of seizure and the therapy was stopped. Computed tomogram of the brain was normal. Six days after starting therapy, she developed mild motor weakness and paresthesia of both lower extremities, which progressed to a definite quariparesis confining her to a bed in 3 days. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of the brain revealed asymmetric, bilateral high-signal abnormalites in the subcortical white matter of fronto-temporal areas. After reaching to a maximum with some fluactuation(14 days after starting the therapy) the motor weakness started to be resolved. She was discharged with a almost complete resolution of the weakness 45 days after starting the therapy. Five months later she did well and brain MRI was negative.

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 244-254, 1999.-Obesity can be defined as a metabolic disease due to an increased state of fat tissues caused by an imbalance of calorie intake and use. Recently, in Korea by improvement and westernization of food intake, along with decrease in exercise activities, the prevalence of obesity has increased greatly. Our objectives were to study stability and effects of decrease in body fat by administering red ginseng compound preparation (known to have body fat decreasing effects in laboratory animals) to obesity patients on low calorie diets. Changes in weight and body fat were measured while carrying out calorie-restricted diets on patients for 4 weeks, then administering red ginseng compound preparation for another 4 weeks. The patients were 20 people whose BMI were 25kg/㎡ or over and whose percent body fat was also 30% or over when tested by bioelectrical conductivity. 1. Changes in weight were from 70.04kg(base line) to 67.43kg(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 2. In similar sense, BMI decreased from 27.12kg/㎡(base line) to 26.56kg/㎡(after dieting), and further to 26.01kg/㎡ (after taking red ginseng compound preparation). The BMI seemed to decrease significantly compared to the baseline after the use of red ginseng compound. 3. Waist hip ratio was changed from 0.8858(base line) to 0.8728, but it was statistically insignificant. 4. The percent body fat was 35,16%(base line), 33.87%(after dieting), and 31.68%(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 5. Complete blood cell count and blood chemisrty remained unaffected by the administration. 6. In concern to endocrinologic studies, T3 decreased from 118.7 to 98.2ng/dL, and T4 increased from 8.8 to 9.2㎕/ dL. Epinephrine showed a tendency to decreased from 0.27 to 0.25 ng/mL, and norepinephrine increased from 0.39 to 0.44ng/mL. 7. Leptin was not changed. 8. Some patients complained adverse effects; constipation(5 patients, may be due to diet therapy), fatigue (2 patients), pruritus(2 patients), flushing(s patients), dizziness(3 patients) and epigastric discomfort(2 patients). However their symptoms were mild, so medication did not stopped. In conclusion, loss of weight without significant side effects was observed during low calorie diet and red ginseng compound preparation administration. This is thought to be in relation to sympathetic nerve system rather than adrenal gland. Also, further long0term studies should be required, since the observed results were based on short-term changes in weight.

        고등학교 영어 교과서 정책의 문제점

        Concerning education, "What knowledge is of most worth" and "How to teach it" are the most important question. It is regrettable, however, that our curriculum workers haven't taken much pains to answer these questions. The fact is that they are unawarely participating in making wise people foolish. G. C. Lichtenberg's aphorism that "A clever child brought up with a foolish one can itself become foolish" is true of our present textbook policy. No research papers concerned with our recent educational reform movement show their deep concern with these classic educational questions. Even "Textbook Organizational Skills in Other Countries"("교과서 정책과 내용구성 방식: 국제비교연구"), the formost study on curriculum reform in Korea, does not say of what knowledge should be most valuable to us here and now. It tells nothing but some organizing principles of textbook; it tells nothing about the philosophy on which its content should be based. The "Guideline" for the highschool English textbook writing is a prime example of the serious lack of philosophy in Korean textbook policy. It is full of many nonsensical restrictions such as the limitation of the number of the usable words in the textbook, the kind of situations, the allowed idioms and phrases, and the forth. However, it doesn't say anything about what kind of English knowledge we need to survice in this globalized world. How can our ambassadors perform their task perfectly with his 3,000 English vocabulary? In our present situation, the most important knowledge is the one capable of increasing autonomy in a wide range of decisions, not just inside the high school classroom but far beyond. And it is impossible to deny that English knowledge is closely related to reaching such autonomy. The problem is how to help students to reach autonomy in every sphere of our lives through English. First of all, we have to decide what kind of English we will teach students who vary in their wishes and objectives and produce various kinds of textbooks which can satisfy their wishes and objectives. Secondly, we have to re-establish educational systems on which our English education can be functioned well. And finally, English teachers should be trained hard against the difficult task of teaching so vast knowledge of English.

        This paper presents an automated visual inspection/measuring system for the door inner panel manufacturing process The main objective of this research is to develop inspection applications with a machine vision system related to the determination or quantification of parameters such as dimension, shape, quality of surfaces, number of holes in a panel, and presence or absence of specific features For quality measurements, we showed a subpixel image processing technology that will improve the consistency of results and level of precision Also presented is a data analysis method to detect process shifts so that corrective action can be undertaken before more defective units are manufactured

        We investigated the effect of aqueous extract of Ammomum xanthioides(AXAE) on immediate hypersensitivity. AXAE inhibited systemic anaphylaxis induced by compound 48/80 in mice. AXAE inhibited serum histamine levels induced by compound 48/80 in mice. Moreover, AXAE dose-dependently inhibited histamine release in peritoneal mast cells activated by compound 48/80. These results indicate that the AXAE may be benificial in the regulation of immediate type allergic reaction.

      • 전기발광소자에서 프탈로시안 카퍼의 역할

        Interfacial properties of electrode and organic thin layer is one of the most important factor in performing a light emitting diodes(LED). Phthalocyanine copper was used as a buffer layer to improve interface characteristic, so that device efficiency was improved. In this study, LEDs were fabricated as like structures of ITO / N,N' - diphenyl - N,N' - di(m-tolyl) - benzidine(TPD) / 8-Hydroxyquinoline aluminum(Alq) / Al and ITO / N,N'- diphenyl - N,N' - di(m-tolyl) - benzidine(TPD) / 2- (4-biphenylyl) - 5(4-tert-butyl-phenyl) -1,3,4 -oxadiazole(PBD) / Al. In these devices, CuPC was layered at electrode/organic layer interface. As position is changing and thickness is changing, devices showed different phenomena respectively. We showed in this study that luminescence efficiency was improved with CuPC layer in LEDs. Characteristic of CuPC will be discussed with I-V curve, EL.

      • Sr·페라이트 본드자석의 자기 특성에 관한 연구

        In this paper, we mention the magnetic properties of Sr ferrite bonded magnet. In order to compose Sr ferrite, first, a little CaO, SiO2, Na2Si3 and A12O3 are added to SrO n·Fe203(n=5.9). Then, the composition is calcinated at 1225℃ under N2 environment for1 hour with addition of PVA 6wt% solution. The carbon coating method increase grinding effect on powder fabrication. To fabricate anisotropic Sr ferrite bonded magnet 82∼92wt% of Sr ferrite and polyamide12 are kneaded and then 0∼12kOe of magnetic field is allied. On magnet fabrication, an optimal condition of injection mold is obtained under the injection temperature 250℃, the injection pressure 120㎏/cm², the magnetic field 8kOe and magnetic field applied time 8sec. As the results of experiments, we obtain (BH)max=2.09MGoe properly on anisotropic bonded magnet which is fabricated by using injection mold method in magnetic field.

      • 글 속에서 사건의 중요도와 인지적 흥미가 그 사건의 회상에 미치는 영향

        Interest can be conceptualized as an emotional state which results from stimuli imterpretation and comprehension, and also as motivator which leads an individual to a specific behavior, although it is generally accepted that interest plays an importance role interpreting stimuli, selecting information, deciding processing priority, and allocating attention in the process of learning and cognition, there has been no systematic approach on the effect of importance and cognitive interest within the field of cognitive psychology. Two experiment were conducted in order to test the event recall on importance of a event and cognitive interest in a story. In Experiment, it was found that 'seductive detail' is vary important role on the story recall and important information recall for the event very well. 본 연구는 글 속에서 사건의 중요도와 인지적 흥미가 그 사건의 회상에 미치는 영향에 대한 것이다. 중요도와 흥미도는 글을 읽는 독자의 이해와 기억에 영향을 미치는 주요소로서 기존의 연구에서 중요도와 흥미도가 높은 글을 내용을 보다 많이 회상한다. 그러나 중요도와 흥미도가 일치하지 않는 경우에는 예상 밖의 결과를 얻었다. 즉, 흥미롭기는 하지만 중요하지 않은 정보의 경우 중요정보와 간섭을 일으켜 오히려 중요정보의 회상을 방해하는 것이다. 이처럼 두 요인을 함께 조작한 연구에서는 흥미가 글 이해와 회상에 더 강한 예측변인으로 작용하는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 글을 읽는 독자가 느끼는 중요도와 흥미도가 글 이해와 기억에 미치는 영향에 대한 Hidi 등(1982)과 Gamer 등(1989)의 결과를 재검증하였고(실험 1), 깊은 수준의 처리가 흥미롭지 않은 중요정보의 회상을 증진시킬 수 있는 지를 검증해 보았다(실험 2). 실험 1에서는 중요도와 흥미도를 각각 조작하여 4가지의 실험 조건을 만들고, 각 조건에서 회상량을 보았다. 실험의 결과 흥미로운 중요정보는 흥미롭지 않은 중요정보보다 회상량이 많았고, 예상했던 흥미로운 사소장보가 흥미롭지 않은 중요정보보다 망각이 더 빨리 되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 실험 2에서는 실험 1과 동일한 재료를 사용, 보다 깊은 수준의 처리를 가능하게 하는 2가지 조작조건(요약, 돌발조건)이 통제조건과 비교해서 차이가 나는 지에 대한 것이었다. 실험 2의 결과 2가지 조작조건 중 요약조건에서의 흥미롭지 않은 중요한 정보의 회상이 통제조건의 회상량보다 많다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
