Bojungiki-tang is a traditional oriental medicine to boost the immune system. In this study, we investigated the effects of Bojungiki-tang by withdrawal of isolation of VRE colonization. Four cases of post-stroke patients with VRE colonization took Bojungiki-tang and continuously were followed up with stool cultures. After three times negative stool VRE, we withdrew isolation of VRE colonization. One case patient was diagnosed with VRE colonization in another hospital and had no withdrawal during that period. He was admitted to Kyung-hee University Oriental Medicine where he took Bojungiki-tang. After three times negative stool VRE, we withdrew isolation of the patient. These results demonstrate that Bojungiki-tang is effective on boosting immunity level. Further studies are needed to better characterize this protective effect of Bojungiki-tang.

본 논문에서는 영상데이터를 이용하여 움직이는 물체를 탐지하는 영상 이동표적표시(MTI)기법을 구현 하였다. 동적 카메라 환경에서 획득한 영상데이터의 카메라 운동을 보정하기 위해 위너필터 기반 영상정합을 이용하였으며, 영상 피라미드 구조를 이용한 다단계 문턱치(Threshold) / 형태학적(Morphology) 영상처리로 다수 이동표적을 탐지하였다. 또한, 계산량을 줄이기 위하여 다단계로 계산영역을 줄이고, 동시에 이동표적 탐지 정밀도를 높였다. In this paper, the video MTI technique to detect moving objects is embodied. A wiener filter-based image registration is used to compensate a camera motion of image date under the moving camera condition, and multi moving targets are detected by a multi-level threshold / morphology image processing utilizing image pyramid structure. Further, in order to reduce computational complexity the calculated area is decreased to multi-level and simultaneously the accuracy of detecting moving targets is increased.
The Biology of Cancer Stem Cells and Its Clinical Implication in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly malignant tumor with limited treatment options in its advanced state. The molecular mechanisms underlying HCC remain unclear because of the complexity of its multi-step development process. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are defi ned as a small population of cells within a tumor that possess the capability for selfrenewal and the generation of heterogeneous lineages of cancer cells. To date, there have been two theories concerning the mechanism of carcinogenesis, i.e., the stochastic (clonal evolution) model and the hierarchical (cancer stem cell-driven) model. The concept of the CSC has been established over the past decade, and the roles of CSCs in the carcinogenic processes of various cancers, including HCC,have been emphasized. Previous experimental and clinical evidence indicated the existence of liver CSCs; however, the potential mechanistic links between liver CSCs and the development of HCC in humans are not fully understood. Although defi nitive cell surface markers for liver CSCs have not yet been found, several putative markers have been identifi ed, which allow the prospective isolation of CSCs from HCC. The identifi cation and characterization of CSCs in HCC is essential for a better understanding of tumor initiation or progression in relation to signaling pathways. These markers could be used along with clinical parameters for the prediction of chemoresistance, radioresistance, metastasis and survival and may represent potential targets for the development of new molecular therapies against HCC. This review describes the current evidence for the existence and function of liver CSCs and discuss the clinical implications of CSCs in patients demonstrating resistance to conventional anticancer therapies, as well as clinical outcomes. Such data may provide a future perspective for targeted therapy in HCC.
영상 피라미드구조를 이용한 위너필터 기반 영상정합 구현

본 논문에서는 영상 데이터를 이용하여 움직이는 물체를 검출하는 영상 MTI기법 구현을 위한 영상정합 알고리즘을 실험하였다. 움직임을 동반한 카메라에서 획득한 영상데이터인 경우, 움직이는 물체를 검출하기 위해 배경을 일치시키는 영상정합 기법이 필요하다. 배경이 정렬된 두 장의 영상에서 오차가 발생하면 운동하는 물체이며, 이 원리를 통해 물체 검출을 실시한다. 본 논문에 사용한 알고리즘은 SAR 레이더 분야에서 선행연구된 신호 부공간 처리를 영상정합 기법으로 채택하였다. 그 중 위너 필터 기반 알고리즘을 프로그램으로 구현하였으며, 계산량을 줄이기 위한 영상 피라미드구조를 추가하였다. In this paper, image registration for the implementation were tested by using MTI technique to detect moving objects. With the image acquired from the moving camera, image registration to align backgrounds is essential to detect moving objects. If errors are occurred between two images aligned background, this errors mean moving objects, and the MTI technique detects the object with these principles. In this paper, the algorithm of Signal Subspace Processing, used in the field of SAR radar for the previous studies, which is adopted. One of them is based on Wiener Filter algorithm, which was implemented in the program, and Image pyramid structure to reduce the computational complexity is added.

Limitations due to lack of appropriate available donors for liver transplantation necessitates the use of ABOmismatched donors. Transplantation of ABO-mismatched solid organs is sometimes associated with the development of immune hemolytic anemia, which is caused by production of antibodies by the donor B lymphocytes in a primary or secondary immune response against the recipient's red blood cell antigens. This condition is referred to as Passenger Lymphocyte Syndrome (PLS). PLS is more frequent in heart and lung transplants than in liver and kidney transplants with incidence of PLS in liver transplantation at 30∼40%. When present, PLS typically manifests 1∼3 weeks after transplantation, and subsides within 3 months after symptoms are first detected. In most patients, PLS is self-limiting and exhibits mild symptoms, but in some cases PLS can be life-threatening. We report a case of immune hemolytic anemia after an ABO-mismatched liver transplantation involving a blood group O donor and a blood group A recipient, and successful treatment of the resulting PLS symptoms by transfusion of gamma-irradiated group O Red Blood Cells (RBCs) accompanied by administration of 60 mg/day of methylprednisolone for 1 week.
