Prediction of retained austenite fraction is quite important in designing advanced high strength steels since retained austeniteis the source of transformation-induced plasticity. The present study investigates the phase constitution of a medium-carbonQ&P steel by comparing various approaches to the transformation stasis of bainitic ferrite and applying them to the partitioningprocess. Among them, the modified GEB approach gave the best agreement with the experimental observation, includingthe effects of heat-treatment condition and chemical composition on phase constitution. This indicates phase transformationduring partitioning can be effectively described by the physics of Gibbs energy balance approach.
여성 생식기 콘딜로마 병변에서의 In Situ Hybridization에 의한 Human Papillomavirus DNA의 검색

The in situ hybridization technique, using digoxigenin labeled human papillomavirus(HPV) probes was applied to the detection of HPV DNA types 6 and 11. on paraffin sections of 24 condylomatous and malignant lesions of the uterine cervix, vagina, and vulva were used. They consisted of 9 condyloma acuminata, 10 flat condylomatous lesions associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and invasive squamous cell carcinoma(SCC), and 5 noncondylomatous lesions. The HPV DNA probes were stained mainly stained in the loilocytotic nuclei of the superficial portion of the epithelium. The underlying normal, dysplastic, and carcinoma cells were negative. Seven(77.8%) out of 9 condyloma acuminata and 4(57.1%) of 7 CIN Ⅰ/Ⅱ cases were positive for HPV 6 or 11. However, 2 cases of CIN Ⅲ and 6 cases of invasive SCC were negative, irrespective of the presence of koilocytosis. Thus, it was concluded that HPV types 6 and 11 are more commonly associated with benign condylomatous and low grade intrapithelial lesions than high grade lesions and SCC.

A successful therapy of community-acquired pneumonia requires appropriate empirical antimicrobial therapy. Etiology and antimicrobial susceptibility of major pathogens of pneumonia can differ by country. Therefore, an ideal treatment guideline of community-acquired pneumonia should be based on the studies performed in each country. We developed a treatment guideline for community-acquired pneumonia in immunocompetent adults in Korea. This guideline was developed by the joint committee of the Korean Society for Chemotherapy, the Korean Society of Infectious Diseases, and the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory diseases.

Cadmium, a potent toxic metal, posses a serious environmental threat but the mechanism of its toxicity remains unclear. Also, cadmium is a known immunotoxic agent in animal studies and induces pathophysiological effects by modulating components of immune system. Cytokines are being increasingly recognized as essential mediators of normal and pathologic immune response. Cells of mononuclear phagocytic system are strategically located at portals of entry in humans and therefore may be particularly at risk for cadmium exposure through contaminated air, food, and drinking water. In the present study, we investigated the effect of cadmium cytotoxicity for the monocyte and expression of cytokine gene in the control and cadmium treated human monocytic cell lines using RT-PCR method. The results showed that cadmium inhibited cell proliferation at 0.1mM cadimium treated cells for 24 hours. The TNF-α mRNA was expressed in both control and cadmium treated cells but not IL-6 and IL-1β. The mRNA levels of TNF-αwere examined during 24 hours culture period, at different time points. The expression of TNF-αmRNA increased in both 0.01mM and 0.1mM cadmium treated cells, but did not show dose-response relationship. According to cadimium treated duration, expression of TNF-αmRNA was more decreased in 24 hours than 6 hours. The decreased levels of mRNA of TNF-α suggest that cadmium suppresses its production at the transcription level.
