Ku_ttner tumor is a relatively uncommon benign tumor-like lesion of the salivary gland that clinically mimics neoplasm because of its presentation as a hard mass. It is also known as chronic sclerosing sialadenitis or cirrhosis of the submandibular gland. We present here the aspiration cytological findings of a case of Ku_ttner tumor in a 58-year old woman. The aspiration specimen of this lesion showed numerous lymphoid cells that were similar to lymph node aspirates, with several scattered benign ductal cells and eosinophilic fibrous tissue. The lymphoid cells were composed of mature bland lymphocytes and follicular center cells. Any acinar cells were not identified. The excised mass was ill-demarcated, hard and fibrotic, and it histologically exhibited an intense lymphocytic infiltration with irregular lymphoid follicle formation, dense periductal and stromal sclerosis, and loss of acini. No evidence of neoplasm or sialolithiasis was discovered, and this led to the diagnosis of Ku_ttner tumor.
99.9% 純度의 aluminum 試片을 加工硬化度에 따라서 恢復에 必要한 活成化 energy를 測定해 보았다. 4.75 ㎜ 直經의 aluminum捧을 10%, 20% 및 29%로 冷間壓縮加工을 實施하여 最終길이가 均一한 6 ㎜로 되게끔 하였다. 10% 및 29% 試片에 對하여 240∼330℃ 溫度區間에서 한時間 간격으로 isochronal annealing을 實施한 hardness data로부터 再結晶溫度가 304℃ 및 285℃ 임을 알 수 있었다. 한편 isochronal annealing을 290℃, 310℃, 및 330℃에서 實施한 結果 恢復에 必要한 活性化 energy는 각각 29,600㎈/㏖, 25,200㎈/㏖ 및 25,200㎈/㏖을 얻을 수 있었다. The effect of plastic deformation on the activation energy of recovery and recrystalization temperature of 99.9% purity polycrystalline Aluminum was investigated. The 10%, 20% and 29% cold compressed aluminum specimen were prepared from 4.75 ㎜ diameter cold drawn rod. From the hardness data obtained by isochronal annealing of one hour between the temperature range of 240℃-330℃ under hydrogen atmosphere, the recrystallization temperatures for 10% and 29% cold compressed were measured to be 304℃ and 285℃ respectively. On the other hand, from the hardness data obtained by isothermal annealing at the temperature range of 290℃-330℃, the activation energy of recovery for 10%, 20% and 29% cold compressed were deduced as 29,600, 25,200 and 22,500 ㎈/㏖ respectively. The activation energy of recovery can be expressible in linear equation in terms of the stored energy of plastic deformation.
Histone deacetylase (HDAC) has been highlighted as one of key players in tumorigenesis and angio-genesis. Recently, several derivatives of psam-maplin (Psams) from a marine sponge have been known to inhibit the HDAC activity, but the molecular mechanism for the inhibition has not fully un-derstood. Here, we explored the mode of action of Psams for the inhibition of HDAC activity in the molecular and cellular level. Among the derivatives, psammaplin A (Psam A) showed the potent inhibitory activity in enzyme assay and anti-proliferation assay with IC50 value of 0.003 and 1 M, respectively. Psam A selectively induced hyper acetylation of histones in the cells, resulting in the upregulation of gelsolin, a well-known HDAC target gene, in a transcriptional level. In addition, reduced Psam A showed a stronger inhibitory activity than that of non-reduced one. Notably, glutathione-depleted cells were not sensi-tive to Psam A, implying that cellular reduction of the compound is responsible for the HDAC inhibition of Psam A after uptake into the cells. Together, these data demonstrate that Psam A could exhibit its activity under the reduced cobe a new natural prodrug targeting HDAC.
The chatter vibration stands for a sudden relative vibration appeared between a material and a tool while processing with a machine. This vibration is a factor that seriously affects the quality of processed materials as well as being a factor which causes serious damages to the tool and the machine. This study is related to the detection and compensation of chatter vibration that can compensate chatter vibration faster and produce processed goods with more precision by autonomous compensation. The above-mentioned chatter vibration compensator includes the chatter vibration sensor and the chatter compensator that estimates the compensation value according to the sensor detecting the chatter vibration of machine tool and the chatter vibration detected from the sensor while having a feature of being organized by interlocking with the machine tool controller.
Purpose: Cell cycle progression is regulated by interactions of specific cyclins and cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs) at the G1-S and G2-M checkpoints and cell cycle deregulation plays a major role in carcinogenesis of human cancers. Patients and Methods: To investigate the role of cell cycle regulators in the pathogenesis and progression of human gastric cancers, 23 cases of gastric carcinomas were examined for the expression of cyclin B1, p34cdc2, p27Kip1 and p53 by immunohistochemical methods, and gene expression was correlated with various clinicopathologic findings. Results: Out of 23 cases studied, cyclin B1 was diffusely expressed in 20 cases (87.0%), p34cdc2 in 14 cases (60.9%) and p53 in 12 cases (52.2%), whereas in normal gastric tissues, cyclin B1 and p34cdc2 were weakly expressed and p53 was not expressed. In contrast, p27Kip1 was expressed in only 8.7% of gastric carcinomas compared with 78.3% of normal gastric tissues. There was correlation between the expression of cyclin B1 and expression of p34cdc2 (p=0.002), between the expression of cyclin B1 and loss of p27Kip1 (p=0.025), and between the expression of p34cdc2 and loss of p27Kip1 (p=0.065). In addition, expression of cyclin B1 was correlated with regional lymph node metastasis (p=0.032). Conclusion: Our results indicate that cyclin B1 and p34cdc2 are involved in the genesis or progression of gastric cancers. Furthermore, overexpression of cyclin B1 may play an important role in lymph node metastatic potential of gastric cancer. Thus, abnormal expression of cyclin B1 and CDKs, overexpression of p53 and loss of p27Kip1 expression may play important roles in human gastric carcinogenesis.
In the near future, the foreseen improvement in machine tools will be in the form of a knowledge evolution-based intelligent device. The goal of this study is to develop intelligent machine tools having knowledge-evolution capability in Machine to Machine (M2M) wired and wireless environment. The knowledge evolution-based intelligent machine tools are expected to be capable of gathering knowledge autonomously, producing knowledge, understanding knowledge, applying reasoning to knowledge, making new decisions, dialoguing with other machines, etc. The concept of the knowledge-evolution intelligent machine originated from the process of machine control operation by the sense, dialogue and decision of a human expert. The structure of knowledge evolution in M2M and the scheme for a dialogue agent among agent-based modules such as a sensory agent, a dialogue agent and an expert system (decision support agent) are presented in this paper, and work-offset compensation from thermal change and recommendation of cutting condition are performed on-line for knowledge-evolution verification.
