      • 자기정렬공정에 의한 GaAs/ AlGaAs 광위상변조기의 제작 및 특성 측정

        MOCVD(metal-organic chemical vapour deposition) 방법으로 성장시킨 이중 이종접합구조GaAs / AlGaAs 웨이퍼를 이용하여 광위상변조기를 제작하였다. 제작과정에서 도파로와 절연층의 형성시 동일 포토레지스트 패턴을 이용하는 자기정렬공정을 개발하여 그 효용성을 입증하였다. Fabry-Perot 간섭법을 이용하여 변조기의 위상변조효율을 측정하였으며, 1.31㎛ 파장에서 TE 편광의 경우 22.5˚/Vmm의 위상변조특성을 얻었다. An optical phase modulator is fabricated in GaAs / AlGaAs double heterostructure wafer grown by MOCVD. A self-aligned process, in which the same photoresist pattern is used for both the waveguide etching and the insulation layer formation, is developed and is found to be very useful. Fabry-Perot interference technique is applied to the measurement and the phase modulation efficiency is measured to be 22.5˚/Vmm at 1.31㎛ for TE polarization.

      • 췌장 가성낭종의 CT진단 후 치료경과 관찰

        Purpose: To evaluate clinical outcome after documentation of pancreatic pseudocyst by computed tomography (CT). Methods: The clinical course of 18 patients with pancreatic pseudocysts documented by computed tomography (CT) were retrospectively reviewed. History, physical examination, laboratory findings and CT finding were analyzed between operated and non -operated group of pancreatic pseudocysts. Result: There are 20 pancreatic pseudocysts in 18 patients with 16 males and two females (mean age: 45). There is no significant difference between operated and non- operated group in clinical symptoms and laboratory findings. On CT study, there are six cases of intrapancreatic pseudocysts and four cases of extrapancreatic pseudocysts in operated group. The mean diameter of pancreatic pseudocyst is 10.4 cm. In 10 pseudocysts of non-operated group, there are four case of intrapancreatic pseudocysts and six cases of extrapancreatic pseudocysts. The mean diameter of pancreatic pseudocyst is 5.4cm. There are approximately twice in diameter of the pseudocysts between operated and non-operated group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: CT is useful in the guiding of pancreatic pseudocyst management.

      • 한국인에서 Ataxia Telangiectasia 유전자의 다형성에 대한 연구

        Ataxia-telangiectasis(AT) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by berebellar ataxia, oulocutaneous telangiectaisa, immune defects, and a predisposition to malignancy. The gene for AT, deginated ATM(ataxia telangiectasia mutated), located on chromosome 11q22-q23, contains 66 exons spanning approximately 150 kb of genomic DNA and encodes a protein of 3056 amino acids. It is sell established that patiens with At have a strong predispositon to malignancy, particularly leukemias and lymphomas. An increase predisposition to malignancy has also been suggested to involve heterozygotes for ATM gene mutations. The genetic bases of carcinogenesis for various cancers in Korea have not been studies in detail and the study on the heterozygosity of AT in Korean population would be necessory. In this study, 150 healthy Koreans were studies for the polymorphism at AT using PCR of exon 39 of AT gene. The result was that 110 persons (73%) were heterozygote for wild and polymorphic type(A1/A2), and 40(27%) revealed homozygous polymorphic type A2/A2. The wild type homozygous tyep A1/A1 was not noted in Korean. Above results suggests that heterozygosity of AT is not infrequent in Koreans, and further studies on the carcinogenetic effects of AT in various cancers in Korea would be necessory.

      • Alloxan 유도 당뇨병상태에서 과산화지질생성에 미치는 Brazilin의 효과

        Brazilin was tested for its ability to inhibit alloxan induced lipidperoxidation. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum were measured by the TBA method. ICR mice receiving alloxan at a dose of 43mg/kg via the tail vein after a 24hrs starvation showed significantly increased lipid peroxide contents as compared to untreated control. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum of alloxan-induced diabetic mice were dose-dependently decreased by the treatment of brazilin at a dose of 10mg/kg, 50mg/kg, 100 mg/kg for 5 days.

      • 혼합액정(80CB+50CB)의 네마틱-스멕틱 A 상전이 근처의 네마틱상에서 휨 탄성상수(K₃)에 관한 광산란 실험연구

        액정 8OCB(octyloxycyanobiphenyl)에 액정 5OCB(pentyloxycyanobiphenyl)를 무게비로 혼합하여 혼합액정 (8OCB+5OCB)을 만들었다. 이 혼합액정은 5OCB의 무게비에 따라 McMillan지수 (??)가 감소하였다. 그리고 Rayleigh 광산란 실험방법을 이용하여, 순수 8OCB와 혼합액정의 네마틱-스멕틱 A 상전이 근처의 네마틱상에서 산란된 빛의 세기를 온도와 함수로 측정하였다. 실험데이타 분석결과는 휨(bend) 탄성 상수에 비례하는 세로방향 상관거리(??)는 McMillan 지수에 관계없이 임계지수 ??=0.66±0.03을 갖고 발산하였다. 이 값은 de Gennes의 모델에서 제시된 ??=0.67과 일치함을 알수있다. By utilizing Rayleigh scattering technique, we have measured the temperature dependence of scattered light intensity near nematic to smectic-A phase transition point in the pure 8OCB(octyloxycyanobiphenyl) and its mixtures contaning 5, 10, 15 weight percentage of 5OCB(pentyloxycyanobiphenyl). From analysis of these data. it is found that the longitudinal correlation length (??) diverges with critical exponent ??=0.66±0.03 independent on McMillan parameter (??). This result is consistent with de Gennes model (??).

      • Preionization-Stabilized Multiple Transmission Lines TE N_2-Laser

        Achieving high output power in N_2 laser, we used fast electric discharge (~10 nsec), large volume (~0.2 liter) and homogenized discharge. In order to perform the fast discharge, we have designed a lasing cavity driven by TE-type transmission lines and low inductance spark gap, and utilized multiple transmission lines to provide increased lasing volume. Multiple lines should effect on reducing the line impedance. We have derived the good homogeneity of laser discharge from the uniform spatial distribution of the initiating electrons provided by the preionizer. Present work enabled the stability of the main glow discharge relatively insensitive to the surface quality of the main electrodes.

      • Auger 電子分光에 의한 Ni-Cu, Cu-Ag 表面의 附着硏究

        Adhesion for various metals Ni-Cu-Ag after friction was measured in high vacuum chamber. Surfaces were examined with Auger-Electron-Spectroscopy in∼10_-10 torr before and after contact to determine nature of surface changes resulting from adhesive contact. Surfaces were cleaned by standard process and electrical heating for friction and AES studies. Thus, from the experimental results, it should be possible to predict which of two surfaces in contact will undergo attrition. We can see that adhesion depends on elastic moduli, surface energy, heat of sublimation, melting point and cohesive strength.

        The main goal of this article is to show principal problems to be primarily solved in teachers' society and explore soving methods about them for educational competitive force's enhancement. Recently, Korea and pricipal advanced countries of the world which recognized that the criterion of national development exists in educational development are making efforts, to educational reforms for improving educationl quality. Such a educational quality and education's success or failure directly relate to teachers' problems, so they should be primarily solved. They are as follows. First, insufficent incentives to secure well-qualified teacher candidates. Second, teachers' low morale, reduced effort and lower job satisfaction because of poor economic compensation, low social status, noninstructional duties, and inadeqate teaching environment and so on. Third, lack of teachers' professionalism, (e. g., poor professional development opportunities, teachers' professional quality about their charged subjects and job. Fourth, intricate coflicts among teachers, (e. g., poor administrative leadership, that is, principls's authoritative leadership style and low staff collegiality) To these problems, First, increasing dramatically teacher's salary up to adequate level according to their careers and professionalism, Teanher's salary should be given to elevate their moral and commitment to education because it has finally influence upon educational effectiveness. Second, improving teacher's working environment. The school's commitment to provide a safe and attractive working environment is a key indicator of whether it is a good place to work.(e. g., an efficent heatingand cooling system, a cmfortable faculty lounge, an ample parking area, adequate -sized office or workplace) Third, preparing various and attractive incentive system for securing well-qualified teacher to be. (e. g., expanding a variety of scholarship for good candidates for teaching, a good teaching physical working conditions descrived above, and various fringe benefits and so forth) Finally, upgrading the degree of social recognition of teachers' society to recover self-respect and pride of teachers, (e. g., enacting a positive, powerful, and special law to gurantee teacher's social, economic status)
