A Fully Integrated 5-GHz CMOS Power Amplifier for IEEE 802.11a WLAN Applications

A fully integrated 5-GHz CMOS power amplifier for IEEE 802.11a WLAN applications is implemented using $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. An on-chip transmission-line transformer is used for output matching network and voltage combining. Input balun, inter-stage matching components, output transmission line transformer and RF chokes are fully integrated in the designed amplifier so that no external components are required. The power amplifier occupies a total area of $1.7mm{\times}1.2mm$. At a 3.3-V supply voltage, the amplifier exhibits a 22.6-dBm output 1-dB compression point, 23.8-dBm saturated output power, 25-dB power gain. The measured power added efficiency (PAE) is 20.1 % at max. peak, 18.8% at P1dB. When 54 Mbps/64 QAM OFDM signal is applied, the PA delivers 12dBm of average power at the EVM of -25dB.

In this paper, the study on development of an applicable logic on the characteristics of Rolling stocks will be proposed. In general, this logic which means decision logic or LTA(Logic Tree Analysis) is used to analyze how the failure mode have an effects on the system. The effect would be categorized as safety, operational, economical, etc. To do this, based on the typical logics which have been applied to other industries, such as plants, aero, etc. This paper emphasizes two crucial parameters that is one cost the other customer service, that have an important role in railway system operation. In conclusion, as mentioned above as the logic for which could be effectively applied for the railway system(RST) would be developed.

This study constitutes the foundation and preparation steps for communication training programmes for the members of medical institutions. It aims for providing of the procedures and methods for reconstructing norms for the effective communication and the hereby derived norms in the organizations. For this purpose, chapter 2 introduces methods and procedures for the derivation of communicative norms. In chapter 3, which encompasses the final result of the research, we discuss commnunicative norms with instances that the members of the organizations have to keep in mind when communicating.

<P>Mannasantin B, a dilignan structurally related to manssantin A, is an inhibitor of NF-kappaB transactivation. In the present study, we found that it inhibited PMA-induced expression of IL-1beta, IL-1beta mRNA, and IL-1beta promoter activity in U937 cells with IC50 values of about 50 nM. It also inhibited NF-IL6- and NF-kappaB-induced activation of IL-1beta, with IC50 values of 78 nM and 1.6 microM, respectively, revealing a potent inhibitory effect on NF-IL6. Electrophoretic mobility shift assays showed that manassantin B had an inhibitory effect on DNA binding by NF-IL6, but not by NF-kappaB. Further analysis revealed that transactivation by NF-IL6 was also inhibited. Our results indicate that manassantin B suppresses expression of IL-1beta in promonocytic cells by inhibiting not only NF-kappaB but also NF-IL6 activity. Furthermore, our observations suggest that manassantin B may be clinically useful as a potent inhibitor of NF-IL6 activity.</P>

This study aims to know the effect of road traffic noise perception when the visual and aural information is added in a laboratory experiment. ME (magnitude estimation) and SD (semantic differential method) evaluation on the effect of visual and aural effect were carried out by 43 university students. As the result, up to 10 % of psychological reduction effect was shown under the 65 dB(A). As the noise level, it was analyzed that the vision affected about 7 dB(A) and sound affected 5 dB(A). However, if these two are given simultaneously, mainly sound affects to reduce the annoyance of noise and the vision next. Compared with the urban central circumstances, this effect (2 dB(A) under 65 dB(A) noise) was shown smaller than field test.

To develop new functional traditional rice wines using Gugija and Liriope tuber as raw materials, screenings of optimal fungal nuruk and alcohol fermentative yeast for brewing of Gugija-L. tuber traditional rice wine were performed with investigation of optimal fermentation condition. Finally, we selected commercial SJ nuruk and Saccharomyces cerevisiae C-2 as optimal nuruk and yeast for Gugija-L. tuber traditional rice wine. Furthermore, a new antihypertensive and anti-gout Gugija-L. tuber traditional rice wine was produced when 3% of Jangmyong Gugija and L. tuber No.1 were added into cooked rice and then fermented at 25oC for 5 days with SJ nuruk and S. cerevisiae C-2.
Spontaneous Oscillatory Rhythm in Retinal Activities of Two Retinal Degeneration (rd1 and rd10) Mice

Previously, we reported that besides retinal ganglion cell (RGC) spike, there is ~10 Hz oscillatory rhythmic activity in local field potential (LFP) in retinal degeneration model, rd1 mice. The more recently identified rd10 mice have a later onset and slower rate of photoreceptor degeneration than the rd1 mice, providing more therapeutic potential. In this study, before adapting rd10 mice as a new animal model for our electrical stimulation study, we investigated electrical characteristics of rd10 mice. From the raw waveform of recording using $8{\times}8$ microelectrode array (MEA) from in vitro-whole mount retina, RGC spikes and LFP were isolated by using different filter setting. Fourier transform was performed for detection of frequency of bursting RGC spikes and oscillatory field potential (OFP). In rd1 mice, ~10 Hz rhythmic burst of spontaneous RGC spikes is always phase-locked with the OFP and this phase-locking property is preserved regardless of postnatal ages. However, in rd10 mice, there is a strong phase-locking tendency between the spectral peak of bursting RGC spikes (~5 Hz) and the first peak of OFP (~5 Hz) across different age groups. But this phase-locking property is not robust as in rd1 retina, but maintains for a few seconds. Since rd1 and rd10 retina show phase-locking property at different frequency (~10 Hz vs. ~5 Hz), we expect different response patterns to electrical stimulus between rd1 and rd10 retina. Therefore, to extract optimal stimulation parameters in rd10 retina, first we might define selection criteria for responding rd10 ganglion cells to electrical stimulus.
