        국내 하천 퇴적물 건강성평가를 위한 Microtox 독성시험 조건확립 연구

        1. 하천 퇴적물 공극수, 증류수 추출용액 및 유기용매 추출액을 pH6.0~6.5 범위로 조절한 후 Microtox 독성을 측정하는 것이 퇴적물내의 암모니아 독성이 배제된, 유해화학물질 오염에 의한 퇴적물 독성을 평가하는 방안임을 확인하였다. 2. 퇴적물에 대해 공극수, 증류수 추출물, 유기용매 추출물 구분하여 Microtox 독성을 구하는 것이 퇴적물 내 유해화학물질의 독성발현 특성을 예측할 수 있는 기법이라고 사료된다. 3. 조사정점 내 시료 채취 지점간 독성에 편차로 인하여, 동일 정점의 반경 50~100m 내에서 최소 4지점 이상의 퇴적물을 확보하는 것이 해당 정점의 독성 대표값을 산출할 수 있는 방안이 된다고 판단된다. 4. 한강수계인 남한강 지천인 복하천과 양화천, 금강수계인 청주 미호천, 대전 갑천, 낙동강수계인 대구 금호강, 영산강수계인 황룡강 그리고 익산 만경강을 대상으로 한 예비 조사한 결과, 집중연구대상 하천으로의 조건은 금호강이 가장 우수하였다. 5. 하천 퇴적물의 증류수 추출액과 유기용매 추출액의 Microtox 독성값 간의 상호 상관성이 높았다. 그러나, 농축 과정이 용이하므로 정점간 비교를 위한 독성 측정시 유기용매 추출액을 사용하는 것이 바람직하다고 사료되었다. Six rivers were selected as preliminary screening sites to determine the test conditions of Microtox in assessing the toxicity of the sediment. In addition, a pH range of 6.0--6.5 was established in testing pore water, aqueous extracts and organic extracts. Each extractable fraction of sediment showed different toxicities. Therefore, in order to properly examine the toxicity in the sediment, all extractable fractions of sediment samples needed to be tested with Microtox. Thus, sediment samples were additionally collected from at least 4 secondary sites within 50~100 m area of the primary sampling site to reduce any variation or deviation in toxicity assessment. From all sediment toxicity data that was collected from this study, it was concluded that the Keumho river was the most polluted with the highest sediment toxicity of all the rivers analyzed and needed further detailed research on its pollution problem.

      • 괴사성 장염 환아의 금식기간 결정을 위한 Iohexol의 유용성 : Iohexol의 위장과 투여 후 채취한 소변을 전산화단층촬영법을 이용

        Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis is the most common gastrointestinal emergency in the neonates and its course is often fulminating with progressive lethargy. The purpose of this study is to determine the period of NP0(non per os) treatment in the patients with neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis. Matenal and methods: For determining the normal range of CT(Computerized tomography) attenuation coefficients of urine from normal neonates, 60 normal neonates participated in this study. And urine specimens from 16 patients with stage IIB necrotizing enerocolitis were obtained 8-12 hours after the instillation of iohexol enterally. The attenuation coefficients of each urine specimen were determined with CT. Periodic examinations were performed at an interval of two days. As soon as the values of attenuation coefficients reached the normal range, we discontinued NPO treatment. Results: The mean period of NPO treatment of 16 patients with stage IIB necrotizing enterocolitis was 11.1 days. The NPO period of 6 patients were 8 days, two were 10 days, four were 12 days, one was 14 days and three were 16 days. Conclusion: By means of this study, we were able to determine the period of NPO treatment on a case by case basis. The authors think that CT examination of the obtained urine after the instillation of iohexol may be a good method to determine the period of NPO treatment.

      • 뇌수막종에서 선형가속기를 이용한 방사선수술 효과

        목 적 :뇌수막종 환자들을 대상으로 선형가속기를 이용한 방사선수술을 시행한 결과에 대하여 환자의 임상적 증상과 방사선학적 추적검사를 통해 그 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 1988년 7월부터 1998년 8월까지 20명의 뇌수막종 환자들을 대상으로 6 MV 선형가속기를 이용하여 방사선수술을 시행하였다. 20명의 환자들 중 4명(20%)은 남성, 16명(80%)은 여성이었으며, 평균연령은 51세(22∼78세)였다. 종양의 뇌내 위치는 측시상동 부위(parasagittal area)와 접형골 부위(sphenoid wing)가 8례(40%)로 가장 많았다. 방사선 수술 전에 시행한 신경외과적 수술의 횟수를 보면 1회 시행한 경우가 11례, 2회가 2례, 3회 시행한 경우가 1례였으며, 수술을 시행하지 않고 방사선수술만을 시행한 경우는 6례였다. 종양의 평균 부피는 5.72 cm3 (0.78∼15.1 cm3)였으며, 2차 시준기(secondary collimator)의 지름의 중간 값은 2 cm (1∼3 cm)이었다. 종양변연부의 평균조사량은 19.6 Gy (9∼30 Gy)였다. 추적관찰기간은 2.5∼109개월로 중앙값은 53개월이었다. 결 과 :방사선학적 검사와 신경학적 검사상 모두 반응률은 95%였다. 방사선추적검사상 종양의 부피가 줄어든 경우는 5례(25%), 종양의 부피에 변화가 없는 경우는 14례(70%), 그리고 종양의 부피가 증가된 경우가 1례(5%)였다. 종양의 부피가 증가된 1례를 제외한 19명의 환자중, 4명의 환자에서 추적 영상 검사상 중심부괴사의 소견이 보였다. 임상적 증상의 호전여부에 따른 신경학적인 검사상 증상의 호전이 있었던 경우는 9명(45%), 증상의 변화가 없었던 경우는 10명(50%)였다. 증상이 악화되었던 1명(5%)의 환자는 수술을 시행하여, 방사선 괴사의 소견을 보였다. 결 론 :뇌수막종 환자들에서 선형가속기를 이용한 방사선수술은 부작용 없이 시행할 수 있는 효과적인 치료법으로 생각된다. Purpose : To evaluate the role of linac based radiosurgery (RS) in the treatment of meningiomas , we retrospectively analyzed the results of clinical and follow up CT/MRI studies . Methods and Materials : From the 1988 July to 1998 April, twenty patients of meningioma had been treated with 6 MV linear accelerator based radiosurgery. Of the 20 patients , four (20%) were ma le and 16 (80%) were female. Mean age was 51 years old (22∼78 years old). Majority of intracranial location of tumor for RS were parasagittal and sphenoid wing a rea. RS was done for primary treatment in 6 (30%), postoperative res idual les ions in 11 (55%) a nd regrowth after surgery in 3 (15%). Mean tumor volume was 5.72 cm3 (0.78∼15.1 cm3) and secondary collimator s ize was 2.04 cm (1∼3 cm). The periphery of tumor margin was prescribed with the mean dose of 19.6 Gy (9∼30 Gy) which was 40∼90% of the tumor center dose. The follow up duration ranged from 2.5 to 109 months (median 53 months). Annual CT/MRI scan was checked. Results : By the follow up imaging studies , the tumor volume was reduced in 5 cases (25%), arrested growth in 14 cases (70%), and increased s ize in 1 case (15%). Among these respons ive and stable 19 patients by imaging studies , there showed loss of contrast enhancement after CT/MRI in four patients . In clinical response, nine (45%) patients were cons idered improved condition, 10 (50%) patients were stable and one (5%) was worsened to be operated. This partly resulted in necros is after surgery. Conclusion : The overall control rate of meningiomas with linac based RS was 95% by both imaging follow- up and clinical evaluation. With this results , linac based RS is cons idered safe a nd effective treatment method for meningioma.

        항결핵 화학요법과 외과적 절제로 치료한 간내 일차성 단발성 결핵종 1 예

        The solitary form of primary hepatic tuberculosis is a rare disease. We report an unusual case of primary solitary hepatic tuberculosis treated with surgical resection and second-line antituberculosis chemotherapy due to the recurrence after first-line antituberculosis chemotherapy alone. A 36-year-old man was presented with right upper abdominal discomfort, chills and weight loss for 2 months. Computerized tomography demonstrated the solitary space occupying lesion on the left lobe of liver suggesting a malignant disease. The open biopsy revealed chronic granulomatous inflammation with multinucleated giant cells and caseous necrosis. The patient was treated with antituberculosis chemotherapy for nine months and eighteen months respectively with the interval of eighteen months. But the hepatic lesion had become larger and symptoms were aggravated after the discontinuation of therapy. He underwent surgical excision of the lesioin. With second-line antituberculosis chemotherapy, the symptoms improved in postoperative days. Twenty four months later, no evidence of recurrence was noted in symptoms, laboratory findings and imaging studies. (Korean J Med 61:77-81, 2001)

        Design and Implementation of the RF Systems for Bi-directional Wireless Capsule Endoscopes

        This paper explains that the RF systems for hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes were designed and implemented. The designed RF systems for a capsule endoscope can transmit the images of intestines from the inside to the outside of a body and the behavior of the capsules can be controlled by an external controller simultaneously. The hi-directional wireless capsule endoscope consists of a CMOS image sensor, FPGA, LED, battery, DC to DC Converter, transmitter, receiver, and antennas. The transmitter and receiver which were used in the hi-directional capsule endoscope, were designed and fabricated with $10mm(diameter){\times}3.2mm(thickness)$ dimensions taking into the MPE, power consumption, system size, signal to noise ratio and modulation method. The RF systems designed and implemented for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes system were verified by in-vivo experiments. As a result, the RF systems for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes satisfied the design specifications.

      • Phosphoproteomic Analysis of AML14.3D10 Cell Line as a Model System of Eosinophilia

        Eosinophils act as effectors in the inflammatory reactions of allergic diseases including atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis patients and others with allergic disorders suffer from eosinophilia, an accumulation of eosinophils due to increased survival or decreased apoptosis of eosinophils. In this study, a differential phosphoproteome analysis of AML14.3D10 eosinophil cell line after treatment with IL-5 or dexamethasone was conducted in an effort to identify the phosphoproteins involved in the proliferation or apoptosis of eosinophils. Proteins were separated by 2-DE and alterations in phosphoproteins were then detected by Pro-Q Diamond staining. The significant quantitative changes were shown in nineteen phosphoproteins including retinoblastoma binding protein 7, MTHSP75, and lymphocyte cytosolic protein 1. In addition, seven phosphoproteins including galactokinase I, and proapolipoprotein, were appeared after treatment with IL-5 or dexamethasone. Especially, the phospho-APOE protein was down-regulated in IL-5 treated AML14.3D10, while the more heavily phosphorylated APOE form was induced after dexamethasone treatment. These phosphoproteome data for the AML14.3D10 cell line may provide clues to understand the mechanism of eosinophilia as well as allergic disorders including atopic dermatitis.

      • Enhanced Overall Conversion Efficiency of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Using Nano-Hollow Patterns for Efficient Light Scattering

        <P>Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted great attention due to their distinct efficiency, very low fabrication cost, good performance under diffuse light condition, and ability to be fabricated on flexible substrates. One of the main efficiency-limiting factors of DSSCs is the poor light absorption of dye molecules at longer wavelengths. In this work, we formed cylindrical nano-hollow patterns (CNHPs) between the TiO2 nanoparticle (TNP) film and the front transparent electrode by using the direct printing technique and etching process to improve the light absorption of dye molecules at longer wavelengths. In addition, optical properties such as diffused transmittance and light absorption were measured by using UV-visible spectrometer. Optical characterizations of the TNP films with CNHPs revealed strong light scattering within the wavelength range of similar to 600 similar to 800 nm Owing to the light scattering effect provided by the CNHPs formed in the TNP films, increases in the short-circuit photocurrent density and overall conversion efficiency of the DSSCs were observed.</P>

        초등학교 아동들의 비만 발생에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 2년 추적조사 연구 2 Years Follow-up Study

        This prospective study was performed to find the associated factors of obesity in primary school children in Kwangju. We studied obesity incidence over 2 years among 4th grade primary school children, In 1994, base line study about 1,344 children of 4th grade was performed and in 2 years later, we reinvestigated health examination and questionnaire about several variables in 922. The 797 children included in the analysis had non-obese(normal and overweight) at baseline in 1994. This results were as follows; l. In 2 years later, 3.5% of normal and 15% of overweight children were to the obese. 2. The body mass index and obesity in one or both parents, sex, overweight at baseline, regular exercise and meat preference were statistically significant factors in simple analysis. 3. In multiple logistic regression analysis, the odds ratios associated with obesity were 0.41 (95% CI: 0.20-0.82) for female, 0.48(95% CI: 0.25-0.92) for doing regular exercise, 4,95(95% CI: 2.55-9.59) for overweight at baseline, and 3.22(95% CI: 1.11-9.34) for obesity in both parents. In conclusion, obesity incidence in primary school children was associated with physical characteristics, genetic factors and social factors like a life style. It is suggested that obesity management and appropriate regular exercise in family unit should be required to prevent obesity in children.
