      • Effect of Network Polymerization on the Pressure-Induced Structural Changes in Sodium Aluminosilicate Glasses and Melts: <sup>27</sup>Al and <sup>17</sup>O Solid-State NMR Study

        <P>Probing the pressure-induced structural changes and the extent of disorder in aluminosilicate glasses and melts at high pressure remains a challenge in modern physical and chemical sciences. With an aim of establishing a systematic relationship between pressure, composition, and glass structures, we report <SUP>27</SUP>Al and <SUP>17</SUP>O 3QMAS NMR spectra for sodium aluminosilicate glasses [Na<SUB>2</SUB>O:Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>:SiO<SUB>2</SUB> = 1.5:0.5:2<I>n</I> with <I>n</I> = 1 (NAS150520, <I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> = 0.5), 2 (NAS150540, <I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> = 0.67), and 3 (NAS150560, <I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> = 0.75)], quenched from melts at pressures up to 8 GPa. We also explore the stability of the <SUP>[4]</SUP>Al–O–<SUP>[4]</SUP>Al cluster in the highly depolymerized, NAS150520, glass at high pressure. For given glass composition, the <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al peak intensity increases with increasing pressure. The population of <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al increases linearly with <I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> from NAS150520 (<I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> = 0.5) to NAS150560 glass (<I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> = 0.75) at both 6 and 8 GPa. The <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al/<I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> ratio also tends to increase with pressure, indicating a possible relationship between <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al fraction and <I>X</I><SUB>SiO2</SUB> that depends on pressure. The effect of pressure on the network connectivity in the sodium aluminosilicate glasses is manifested in the increase in <SUP>[4]</SUP>Si–O–<SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al peak intensity and the decrease in the nonbridging oxygen (NBO) fraction with increasing pressure. The fraction of <SUP>[4]</SUP>Si–O–<SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al in NAS150520 is smaller than in NAS150560. Taking into consideration the pressure-induced Al coordination transformation in the fully polymerized glass (albite, Na<SUB>2</SUB>O:Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>:SiO<SUB>2</SUB>= 1:1:6, NBO/T = 0), the fraction of <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al at a given pressure varies <I>nonlinearly</I> with variations of NBO/T. <SUP>[5,6]</SUP>Al fraction at 8 GPa increases with decreasing degree of melt polymerization from ∼8% for fully polymerized albite melt (NBO/T = 0) to ∼37% for partially depolymerized melt (NAS150560, at NBO/T = 0.29). Then it gradually decreases to ∼15% for NAS150520 with further increase in NBO/T of 0.67. This observed trend in the densification behavior at a given pressure indicates competing densification mechanisms involving steric hindrance vs changes of NBO fraction in the silicate melts. The NMR results also suggest that both NBO and BO, particularly <SUP>[4]</SUP>Si–O–<SUP>[4]</SUP>Si, interact with Na<SUP>+</SUP>, and thus the Na<SUP>+</SUP> distribution is likely to be homogeneous around both NBO and BO at high pressure without spatial segregation of silica-rich and alkali-rich domains for the glass compositions studied here. The presence of the <SUP>[4]</SUP>Al–O–<SUP>[4]</SUP>Al cluster is distinct in the NMR spectrum for NAS150520 glass at both 6 and 8 GPa.         <tex> ${\rm TmBa}_{2}{\rm Cu}_{3}{\rm O}_{7-{\rm x}}$</tex> Superconducting Thin Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

        <P>TmBa<SUB>2</SUB>Cu<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> <SUB>-</SUB> <SUB>x</SUB> films which is one of the (Rare earth)Ba<SUB>2</SUB>Cu<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> <SUB>-</SUB> <SUB>x</SUB> high temperature superconductors with small ionic radius of rare earth element, were deposited on STO (100) single crystal substrates and Y<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/YSZ/CeO<SUB>2</SUB> buffered metal substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The J<SUB>c</SUB> (77 K) and the value of onset of Tc TmBCO thin film on STO substrate was 4.5 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> and 86 K, respectively. The of J<SUB>c</SUB> TmBCO coated conductor on metal substrate was 1 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> . In-field property measurement was carried out at temperatures between 10 K and 77 K in magnetic filed up to 6 T in PPMS system. This is the first report, to the best of our knowledge, of TmBCO thin films and coated conductors with TmBCO film as the superconducting layer which have critical current densities at 77 K of 4.5 MA/ cm<SUP>2</SUP> and 1 MA/cm<SUP>2</SUP> , respectively. The superconducting properties of TmBCO films and the possibility of using TmBCO film as the superconducting layer of the HTS coated conductor, were investigated.</P>

        Disparity between Preoperative Target Correction Amount and Postoperative Correction Amount in Open Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the disparity between the preoperative target correction amount and the postoperative correction amount in open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) in patients divided according to the planned osteotomy gap.Materials and Methods: Seventy­two patients were divided into two groups (group 1 with the planned opening gap lager than the mean opening gap length of total patients and group 2 with a smaller opening gap). The opening gap was determined according to the target weight bearing line (WBL) ratio on the preoperative whole leg radiograph. Absolute and relative values of the disparity between the target and postoperative WBL ratios were compared between groups in order to clarify whether the disparity was deviated toward over­ or under­correction.Results: The absolute value of disparity between the target and postoperative WBL ratios in group 1 was significantly larger than that in group 2 (6.01%±5.68% vs. 3.32%±3.38%; p=0.02). However, there was no statistically significant difference in relative values between groups (p=0.54). Conclusions: The postoperative WBL ratio after OWHTO was different from the preoperative target WBL ratio if the planned osteotomy gap was large. This mismatch was not deviated toward one side, either over­ or under­correction.

        Heat stroke is a life-threatening illness characterized by an elevated core body temperature that rises above 40% and central nervous system dysfunctions that results in delirium, convulsions, or coma. Heat stroke is subdivided into two forms, classic and exertional. Since strenuous exercise is one of the major exacerbating and precipitating factors, the incidence of exertional heat stroke is high among young adult, especially military personnel undergoing military training. Exertional heat stroke commonly causes rhabdomyolysis, lactic acidosis, acute renal failure, shock and pulmonary edema. We report a case of heat stroke with rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy(DIC) after strenuous exercise. A 18 year old man was admitted to the hospital because of loss of consciousness. He was a wrestler and he had tried to lose 6kg in weight by jogging and strenuous exercise on that summer day with hot temperature. The development of this illness was favoured by much clothes inappropriate for that environmental condition with a purpose to enhance sweating, and by restricted intake of water and food. On admission, the blood pressure was 80/50mmHg, and body temperature was 39.4℃ with stuporous mentality. Laboratory finding were as follows : in complete blood cell count, hemoglobin was 16.7g/dL and platelet count was 158,000/ mm³. In blood chemistry, AST 1061U/L, ALT 201U/L, BUN 30mg/dL, Cr 2.2mg/dL, LDH 941IU/L, CK 696IU/L were resulted. In arterial blood gas analysis, pH 7.39, pCO₂ 30mmHg pO₂ 86mmHg, HCO₃ 18.4mEq/L, O₂ saturation 96.7% were resulted. In urinalysis, specific gravity 1.025, protein 3+, erythrocyte 2+ were resulted. In brain imaging study, brain CT finding was normal. After appropriate treatments with rapid cooling, hydration and supportive care, he improved with alert mental status. On 2nd hospital day, in laboratory result, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy were appeared and renal insufficiency was aggravated. So he was treated with platelet concentrate and fresh frosen plasma for DIC, and enough hydration for appropriate urine volume preservation. After all, On 22nd hospital day, he fully recovered and discharged. Nowadays, with followed for some duration, he is wellbeing with no complications.

      • Hepatic yersiniosis caused by Yersinia enterocolitica 4:O3 in an adult dog.

        <P>A 2-year-old Pekinese dog was diagnosed with hepatic yersiniosis. Grossly, white-to-yellow nodules consisting of degenerated inflammatory cells, cell debris, and bacterial clumps were scattered throughout the liver. Histopathologically, suppurative and necrotizing hepatitis was apparent. Yersinia enterocolitica biotype 4, serotype O3 (4:O3) was identified and confirmed in the liver immunohistochemically, using a monoclonal antibody. The virulence genes ystA and ail were detected, but the isolate was negative for autoagglutination and calcium-dependent growth. To confirm systemic yersiniosis in animals, it is imperative that the organism(s) be identified because the hepatic lesions are similar to those of Y. pseudotuberculosis and other diseases, including plague, which is also a zoonotic pathogen.</P>

      • Comparative double blind test에 의한 抗아메바劑 Ro7-0207(Tiberal), Metronidazole 및 Dehydroemetine의 治效成績의 比較

        Introduction New and better substances are still being sought for the treatment of amoebiasis. The aim of this trial is to assess the effectiveness and tolerance of Tiberal and oral dehydroemetine in patients with oligosymptomatic (or mild) intestinal amoebiasis comparing with that of metronidazole which are known to be an active amoebicide. Selection of cases. Lately, classical symptomatic amoebiasis accompanying mucus-bloody stool and tenesmus could be seldom experienced at urban areas in this country. At here the majority of intestinal amebiasis is manifested by loose stools containing mucus, pus or blood (rare), and also by a rapid response to antibioties, but with frequent episods of recurrence caused by diet-failure or alcohol drinking. Among 187 cases of mild enterocolitis which were suspected as being mild intestinal amoebiasis clinically, authors selected amoeba-positive 60 cases and additional 7 cases which were included later in this clinical trial study. The 7 drop-outs in the original study were replaced by these additional 7 cases. The clinical trials were carried out at the St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic Medical College, Seoul, Republic of Korea. During 12 month (April 25, 1973-May 17, 1974), we treated 60 cases of so-called oligosymptomatic amoebiasis with above mentioned three amoebicides. 60 ambulatory cases suffering from mild GI troubles were admitted into the trial (liable to recurrent diarrhoeal stools including mucus, or pus with tenesmus, and also to lower abdominal discomfort of mild pain) those were suspected clinically as having intestinal amoebiasis with carriers of E. histolytica (trophozoits and/or cysts in the feces). Oligosymptomatic amoebiasis group, in this clinical trial study, consisted of 34 males and 26 females ranging from 17 to 62 years of age. All were adolescents or adults and their age distribution was shown in Table 1. Methodology on this clinical trials. We have carried out so-called the comparative double blind trials with Tiberal versus Metronidazole versus oral Dehydroemetine in symptomatic amoebiasis of mild grade. The trial drugs were given also without the knowledge of either the one who gave it or the one who got it in this comparative double blind study. Both (drug examiner) doctors and (drug examined) patients have had no knowledge of each drug. Pharmacist responded to doctor's prescription with code numbers. After the completion of the study the exact name of a drug were publically drawn from the code numbers and the purpose of double blind study was attained. In this study an arrangement for a drug administration schedule was set by as pharmacist exclusively. 60 patients were assigned to one of the three drugs by proper randomization so that 20 patients received tiberal and 20 metronidazole and 20 oral dehydroemetine. After the trial, code numbers of the drugs were identified; nos. 1, 6, 10, 14, 19, 23, 25, 27, 28, 29, 33, 34, 35, 36, 44, 45, 47, 51, 53, and 54 were tiberal; 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 32, 39, 41, 48, 49, 50, 52, 55, 56, and 57 were metronidazole, and nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17, 21, 24, 26, 30, 31, 37, 38, 40, 42, 43, 46, 58, 59 and 60 were oral dehydroemetine. Evaluation The therapeutic effects were assessed by the clinical evolution and by stool parasitology (direct examination and concentration method) performed on day 3 and 6 on treatment, and then at the end of treatment (8-10 day) and one month after the initial treatment. This made a total 4 to 5 parasitological examination per patient, including one examination required for diagnosis prior to treatment. At the same time aspect and consistency of the stool were registered. The effect of the drugs on other protozoa found in the stools were also reported. The tolerance were assessed by clinical findings and laboratory studies made in limited cases at least before and after treatment unless otherwise stated. Blood count, BUN, Alkaline phosphatase, SGP, TECG and urinalysis were performed as laboratory controls. Authors have established following evaluation criteria for this clinical study. Radical cure: free of symptoms with no vegetative or cystic forms of E. histolytica in stool on 3 successive tests. Biological cure: no cystic forms of E. histolytica in stool on 3 successive tests, but persistence of some intestinal disturbances. Relapse: apparent cure or improvement (with negative of 3 successive tests) followed by recurrence with vegetative amoeba on direct smear within 30 days. (re-infection may be included) Failure: the trophozoites or cystic form of E. histolytica has persisted for treatment periods, with some intestinal troubles. Methods of treatment and parasitologic examination In each group one third of the patients received 2 capsnles of 250mg. Tiberal thrice daily for 7 days, one third received 2 tablets of 250 mgmetronidazole thrice daily for 7 days, and one third received 2 tablets of 10 mgdehydroemetine thrice daily for 7 days as the only specific drug. No associated drugs were given together for symptomatic relief in all cases. The reason why fixed 7 days dose were delivered to every cases was based on convenience of stool examination and equalizing the number of days for therapy. The therapeutic drugs were delivered usually for 2 days dose (1st prescription), 3 days dose and 2 days dose (3rd prescription) successively, therefore stool examination had been done on 3rd, 6th and 8-10th day of therapy. Clinical results In oligosymptomatic amoebiasis, 20 cases each were treated with doses of 1,500mg/day of Tiberal and metronidozole for 7 days respectively, and 20 cases were treated with doses of 60mg/day of dehydroemetine for 7 days. The total doses administered were 10,5g, 10,5g, and 420mg respectively in a period of 7 days. Among tiberal group 19 cases were found to be negative after therapy whereas there was 1 with parasitological failure. The clinical effect was fast in 95% of the cases. Effective cure was achieved in 17 whereas symptoms persist in 3 patients among 20 cases. There were 1 failure and 2 late relapse. Comparing data of therapeutic results with that of metronidazole and dehydroemetine were shown in Table 2 & 3. Table 3 shows the negativity rate of trophozoits or cystic form of E. histolytica in stools according to therapeutic periods of trial drugs received. The data would indicated that 5 days dose could not be enough to eradicate the parasites even in the susceptible cases. The result data of clinical improvement and clearance of E. histolytica in patient stool among drug trial groups were shown in Table 4. The cases treated with Tiberal showed no clinical signs on average 4,9 days and negative amoeba in stool on average 4,1 days of therapeutic periods, comparing with on average 5,8 days and 4,1 days in metronidazole-treated group, and on average 6,3 days and average 4,5 days in dehydroemetine-treated group respectively. Authors put in order the therapeutic procedures and their result of failed or relapsed cases with unplanned measures in table 5. These data could be obtained after the completion of the comparative double blind study by the code numbers which were publically drawn afterwards. These therapeutic procedures had been made just incidentally, not by prior plan. 2 cases, 4 cases and 3 cases could get finally effective cure by doubling doses of 7 days course of Tiberal, metronidazole and dehydroemetine respectively. 1 failed case treated with dehydroemetine and 1 another failed case with tiberal could get effective cure by additionally receiving metronidazole and dehydroemetine respectively. 2 failed cases treated with metronidazole could be cleared of parasites by adding tiberal effectively. Adverse reactions were noticed in 20% each of the patients treated with Tiberal and also with metronidazole, and 25% of those treated with dehydroemetine. They were all transient and never severe. There was not a single case who was discontinued on therapy owing to its side-effects. No significant change of laboratory data was noticed by the administration of trial drugs. Brief summary Tiberal, metronidazole and dehydroemetine (oral) were all recognized as highly efficacious anti-amoebic drugs in this clinical studies. On account of following standpoints 1) clearance of parasites in stool 2) clinical symptomatic relieving 3) drug tolerance 4) rate of relapse and failure 5) side-effects, Tiberal could be received much more recognition than metronidazole and dehydroemetine did. P. S. Authors has experienced other 10 cases of amoebiasis among in patients (5 moderate severe intestinal amoebiasis, 4 liver abscesses and 1 lung abscess) treated with Tiberal and metronidazole with excellent therapeutic results, without any sequelae or relapse.

      • 단계중합법에 의한 Core-Shell 구조의 Acrylic Composite Particle 제조에 관한 연구

        Core-shell composite latex has the both properties of core and shell components. This unique behavior of core-shell composite latex can be used in many industrial fields. However, in preparation of core-shell composite latex, several unexpected are observed, such as, particle coagulation, low degree of polymerization, and formation of new particles during shell polymerization. To solve the disadvantages, we study the effect of initiator concentrations, surfactant concentrations, and reaction temperature on the core-shell structure of Polymethyl methacrylate/polystyrene and polystyren/polymethyl methacrylate. Particle size and particle size distribution were measured by using Particle Size Analyzer, and the morphology of the core-shell composite latex was determined by using Transmission Electron Microscope. Glass temperature was also measured by using Differential Scanning Calorimeter. To identify the core-shell structure, pH of the two composite latex solutions were measured.

        가정환경과 자기개념과의 관계

        Objects : The family is not only the first social group one encounters, it is also a closed relationship with a growth process which helps form social norms, attitudes toward the self and self-concepts as a result of incoporating many different experiences. This study applied the Family Environment Scale(FES) and the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale(PHS-CSCS) concurrently to study the correlation between family environment and self-concept and also examined the family environment forming a positive self-concept through the results of the FES and PHSCSCS. Methods : the subjects were 1,076 grade 4, 5 and 6 Korean elementary school boys and girls and middle school boys and girls and 1.464 their mothers and fathers. Korean versions of the FES and PHSCSCSC, of proven reliability and validity were applied to all of the children. The parents received only the FES. Results : Significant correlations were found among the 10 FES subscales(cohesion, expressiveness, conflict, independence, achievement-oriented, intellectual-cultural oriented, active-recreational oriented, moral-religious emphasis, organization, control), the 6PHCSCS subscales(behavior, intellectual and school status, physical apperance and attributes, anxiety, popularity, happiness and satisfication) and the total score. The more positive was family environment with a low level of family incongruence, the more positive was self-concept. Multiple regression analysis showed that the most important family environmental factor forming a positive self-concept was the degree of commitment, help and support family members porvide for one another. Conclusion : This study has identified a significant correlation between family environment and self-concept. A further, more comprehensive study, including various socio-psychological factors and biological factors relating to the family environment and self-concept formation is nedded.

      • 개구제한 치료에 있어서 Therabite ^�Jaw Motion Rehabilitation System^TM의 효과

        In oral maxilofacial surgery, limited mouth opening (trismus) is a common symptom resulting from traumatic and postoperative conditions involving the muscles of mastication and their attachments. The limited mandibular function of trismus can result in impaired nutrition, speech, oral hygiene and lifestyle. In the head and neck cancer patient, these symptoms can occur at a time when nutrition, attitude and oral hygiene can be very important to comfort and recovery. Limited jaw mobility can make it difficult to introduce food into the mouth and interferes with the oral preparatory phase of swallowing. Therefore we have to treat the limited mouth opening with various method such as hot pack, muscle massage, muscle stretch with manual, tongue blade and therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system. This study has demonstrated the efficacy of therabite jaw motion rehabilitation for treatment of limited mouth opening in mandibular fracture, internal derangement of TMJ, deep facial infection patients. Ten patients complaining of limited mouth opening were treated by therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system. This treatment was found to be effective in reestablishing normal mouth opening within 4 week in postoperative. It is suggested that therabite jaw motion rehabilitation system is simple, non-invasive, inexpensive, and highly efficient procedure in patients with limited mouth opening.

        葡萄 Campbell Early 의 無核果 生成 및 成熟促進을 위하여 GA₃ 濃度別 그리고 몇 가지 覆袋處理를 한 實驗結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 果房重과 果粒數는 滿開 8日前 處理가 適期로서 果房重은 無處理에 비해 76.4%, 果粒數는 80.6%였다. 2. 1果房當 無核粒率(92%)과 100粒中 種子數(12個)는 滿開 18日前, Gibberellin 處理+cellophane紙 覆袋區가 가장 良好하였다. 3. 果粒數와 種子數(r=0.826) 또한 種子數와 果重間에는 정의 相關關係(r=0.841)를 나타내었다. 4. 糖度는 無處理區보다 cellophane紙 覆袋區가 9.34% 로서 높았다. 含水量과 灰分은 無處理와 新聞紙 覆袋區가 높았고 cellophane 紙 覆袋區가 낮았다. 5. vitamin C 含量은 Gibberellin 處理時期가 빠르고 無核率이 높을수록 낮은 傾向이엇다. 處理間에 있어서는 無處理와 parchment紙 袋覆區 많았고 cellopnane紙 袋覆區가 含量이 적었다. 6. Gibberellin 處理時期를 앞당기고 cellophan紙 袋覆를 하면 無核率이 높은 反面 果粒數 果重이 減少되고, Gibberellin 處理時期를 늦추고 新聞紙 覆袋를 하면 果粒數 果重은 增加하지만 無核率이 낮아졌다. The results obtained by the Gibberellin and bagging treatment on the Campbellearly grape are as follows: 1. The suitable period of treatment for cluster weight and number of berry are to be before 8 days of full bloom. The cluster weight was 76.4% and number of berries were 80.6% compared with control. 2. The ratio seedless berries of 92% per cluster, and number of 12 seedss in 100 beries were showed the best on before 18 full bloom at the bagging plots of Gibberellin treatment+cellophane paper. 3. Number of berry and number of seed (r=0.826) also were showed mutual relation of plus between the number of seed and fruit weight. 4. Soluble solid was showed higher of 9.3% at the cellophane paper bagging plot and 9.34% at the parchment paper bagging plot than the control. Juice content and ash were showed high at the conthol and newspaper bagging plot, and low at the cellophane paper bagging plot. 5. The content of vitamin C was showed low tendency at the higher of the seedless ratio with the quick Gibberellin treatment period. At the betweentreatment, the control and parchment paper bagging plot were showed much, and showed less content at cellophane paper bagging plot. 6. In advance the period of Gibberellin treatment and had cellophane paper bagging then the ratio of seedless would be high, but on the contrary, the number of berry and fruit weight decreased, and had delay the period of Gibberellin treatment and had the newspaper bagging, the number of berry and fruit weight would be increased but the ratio of seedless was low.
