      • 활동기와 동면기 살모사의 위장관 점액세포내 점액질에 관한 조직화학적 연구

        살모사(Aekistrodon halys Pallas)의 위장관 점액세포내 점액질을 활동기와 동면기로 나누어 조직화학적으로 비교관찰하였다. 일반관찰을 위하여 H-E 염색을, 조직화학적 소견을 관찰하기 위하여 PAS reaction, Ab2.5 염색, AB1.0염색, AB2.5-PAS 염색, AB1.0-PAS 염색 AF1.7 염색 및 AF1.7-AB2.5 염색등을 시행하였다. 위(胃)는 표면점액세포와 점액경세포의 점액질을, 소장은 은롸롸 융모의 점액세포를 관찰한 결과를 다음과 같이 요약하였다. 1. 활동기와 동면기의 위점막에서는 현저한 차이는 없으나, 소장점막은 동면기에는 점막 주름수가 감소하고 높이가 낮아지며 점액세포가 위축되었다. 2. 위 표면점액세포는 활동기에 중성점액질과 약간의 Sialomucin을 포함한 산성점액질로 구성되었으나, 동면기에는 중성점액질과 Sialomucin이 약간 감소하였다. 3. 위 점액경세포는 활동기에 중성점액질만을 포함하고 있었으나, 동면기에는 Sialomucin을 포함한 산성점액질이 소량 검출되었다. 4. 소장 점액세포는 활동기에 산성점액질과 중성점액질로 구성되었으며 산성점액질에는 Sulfomucin과 Sialomucin이 포함되어 있었으나, 동면기에는 Sulfomucin과 Sialomucin이 다소 감소하였다. This study was performed in order to investigate the histochemical properties and compositions of the mucosubstances in the mucous of the gastrointestinal tract of Vipers, Agkistrodon halys Pallas, in active and hibernating phases. The specimens from stomach and small intestine were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin, embedded in paraffin wax, sectioned at a thickness of 4㎛, and stained with Hematoxyling-eosin for general histological observation and with PAS reaction, Alcian blue pH 2.5 or 1.0, Alcian blue pH 2.5-PAS or 1.0-PAS reaction, Aldehyde fuchsin pH 1.7, and Aldeliyde fuchsin pH 1.7-Alcian Blue pH 2.5 for histochemical finding. The mucous compositions in mucous cells of the gastrointestinal tract examined by their stain reaction were neutral mucin, acidic mucin, sulfomucin, sialomucin, The results obtained were as follows; The folds of the gastrointestinal tract in the hibernating phase, compared with the active phase, shrink and lower. Also, the shrinkage of epithelial cells were observed in the hibenating phase. The surface mucous cells of the stomach in the active phase composed mainly neutral mucin and a little amount of acidic mucin including sialomucin, but in the hibernating phase neutral mucin and sialomucin slightly decreased. The mucous neck cells of the stomach in the active phase constituted mainly neutral mucin, In the hebernating phase the mucous neck cells were composed of neutral mucin and a little amount of acidic mucin contained sialomucin. The mucous cells of the small intestine in the active phase consist of neutral mucin, acidic mucin including sulfomucin and sialomucin but in the hibernating phase sulfomucin and sialomucin slightly decreased.

        주물사업장에서 발생하는 호흡성분진의 농도 및 석영함유량에 관한 연구

        This study was performed to measure and evaluate the concentration of respirable dust and quartz content at molding and shakeout process in the foundry. The 129 samples in 30 foundries were collected using 10mm Dorr-Oliver nylon cyclone and analysed for quartz concent by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The average quartz concentrations in the respirable dust was 0.0273mg/㎡ and ranged from 0.0007 to 0.3757mg/㎥. The average quartz concentrations of shakeout process wsa significantly higher than that of molding in the foundry. The average of respirable dust in foundry 102129mg/㎡ and ranged from 0.1524 to 7.0428mg/㎥. But there is no significant difference between molding and shakeout processes. The average contents of quartz for OEL-MOL was 2025% and ranged from 0.05 to 32.79% The non-compliance rates for quartz were 22.96% in Korea-OEL and 34.01% in ACGIH-TLV and NIOSH-REL, and 35.03% in OSHA-PEL. The airbome dust in the foundry was effectively controlled when local exhaust ventilation and/or wetting system were operated. The result of this study therefore showed that the engineering controls and periodic environmental suveillance in foundry will be very important for preventing the health effects of workers exposed to quartz.

        This study was conducted to determine the contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees according to different growth stages in Daegu city. The orders of heavy metal contents in leaves of roadside tree and soil were Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Pb〉Cu〉Cr〉Cd and Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Cu〉Pb〉Cr〉Cd, respectively. The contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees and soil showed an increasing tendency as the levels of traffic volume increased. The contents of heavy metals in leaves on October were higher than those on May.

        RESPONSE OF OSTEOBLASI-LIKE CELLS ON TITANIUM SURFACE TREATMENT

        Statement of problem. Titanium is the most important material for biomedical and dental implants because of their high corrosion resistance and good biocompatibility. These beneficial properties are due to a protective passive oxide film that spontaneously forms on the surface. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the responses of osteoblast-like cells on different surface treatments on Ti discs. Material and Methods. Group 1 represented the machined surface with no treatment. Group 2 surfaces were sandblasted with $50{\mu}m\;Al_2O_3$ under $5kgf/cm^2$ of pressure. Groups 3 and 4 were sandblasted under the same conditions. The samples were treated on a titanium oxide surface with reactive sputter depositioning and thermal oxidation at $600^{\circ}C$ (Group 3) and $800^{\circ}C$ (Group 4) for one hour in an oxygen environment. The chemical composition and microtopography were analyzed by XRD, XPS, SEM and optical interferometer. The stability of $TiO_2$ layer was studied by petentiodynamic curve. To evaluate cell response, osteoblast extracted from femoral bone marrow of young adult rat were cultured for cell attachment, proliferation and morphology on each titanium discs. Results and Conclusion. The results were as follows : 1. Surface roughness values were, from the lowest to the highest, machined group, $800^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation group, $600^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation group and blasted group. The Ra value of blasted group was significantly higher than that of $800^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation group (P=0.003), which was not different from that of $600^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation group (P<0.05). 2. The degree of cell attachment was highest in the $600^{\circ}C$ thermal oxidation group after four and eight hours (P<0.05), but after 24 hours, there was no difference among the groups (P>0.05). 3. The level of cell proliferation showed no difference among the groups after one day, three days, and seven days (P>0.05). 4. The morphology and arrangement of the cells varied with surface roughness of the discs.

      • Frontal Lobe Function and Risk of Hip Fracture in Patient With Alzheimer Disease : An Analysis of Linked Data

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>To determine the association between frontal lobe function and risk of hip fracture in patients with Alzheimer disease (AD).</P><P>Retrospective cohort study using multicenter hospital-based dementia registry and national health insurance claim data was done. Participants who had available data of neuropsychological test, national health insurance claim, and other covariates were included. A total of 1660 patients with AD were included based on Stroop Test results. A total of 1563 patients with AD were included based on the Controlled Oral Word Association Test (COWAT) results. Hip fracture was measured by validated identification criteria using national health insurance claim data. Frontal lobe function was measured by Stroop Test and COWAT at baseline.</P><P>After adjusting for potential covariates, including cognitive function in other domains (language, verbal and nonverbal memory, and attention), the Cox proportional hazard regression analysis revealed that risk of a hip fracture was decreased with a hazard ratio (HR) of 0.98 per one point of increase in the Stroop Test (adjusted HR = 0.98, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.97–1.00) and 0.93 per one point increase in COWAT (adjusted HR = 0.93, 95% CI: 0.88–0.99).</P><P>The risk of hip fracture in AD patients was associated with baseline frontal lobe function. The result of this research presents evidence of association between frontal lobe function and risk of hip fracture in patients with AD.</P>

        Baseline Clinical and Biomarker Characteristics of Biobank Innovations for Chronic Cerebrovascular Disease With Alzheimer’s Disease Study: BICWALZS

        Objective We aimed to present the study design and baseline cross-sectional participant characteristics of biobank innovations for chronic cerebrovascular disease with Alzheimer’s disease study (BICWALZS) participants.Methods A total of 1,013 participants were enrolled in BICWALZS from October 2016 to December 2020. All participants underwent clinical assessments, basic blood tests, and standardized neuropsychological tests (n=1,013). We performed brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI, n=817), brain amyloid positron emission tomography (PET, n=713), single nucleotide polymorphism microarray chip (K-Chip, n=949), locomotor activity assessment (actigraphy, n=200), and patient-derived dermal fibroblast sampling (n=175) on a subset of participants.Results The mean age was 72.8 years, and 658 (65.0%) were females. Based on clinical assessments, total of 168, 534, 211, 80, and 20 had subjective cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer’s dementia, vascular dementia, and other types of dementia or not otherwise specified, respectively. Based on neuroimaging biomarkers and cognition, 199, 159, 78, and 204 were cognitively normal (CN), Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-related cognitive impairment, vascular cognitive impairment, and not otherwise specified due to mixed pathology (NOS). Each group exhibited many differences in various clinical, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging results at baseline. Baseline characteristics of BICWALZS participants in the MCI, AD, and vascular dementia groups were generally acceptable and consistent with 26 worldwide dementia cohorts and another independent AD cohort in Korea.Conclusion The BICWALZS is a prospective and longitudinal study assessing various clinical and biomarker characteristics in older adults with cognitive complaints. Details of the recruitment process, methodology, and baseline assessment results are described in this paper.

      • 아시아 이머징 주식시장에서의 VaR 분석: 수익률 분포의 비대칭성과 꼬리가 두터운 특징을 중심으로

        본 연구는 아시아 이머징 주식시장 MSCI지수 수익률을 사용하여 변동성의 장기기억 특성을 나타내는 AR(1)-FIGARCH 와 AR(1)-FIAPARCH 모형을 이용하여 수익률 분포도 가정의 적합도를 실증 분석하였다. 즉, 정규분포, Student-t 분포, Skewed student-t 분포 등을 이용하여 어떤 분포도가 모형에 보다 더 정확한VaR 를 추정할 수 있는지를 실증 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과 아시아 이머징 시장 변동성에 장기기억과 비대칭성이 존재하는 것으로 분석 되었다. 이는 주식시장에 충격이 소멸되지 않고 장기간 지속되는 것을 의미한다. 또한, 투자자들은 나쁜 충격에 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 분석 되었다. 마지막으로 표본내 VaR분석의 정확성 검정 결과 정규분포나 Student-t 분포를 가정한 모형보다는 skewed Student-t 분포를 가정한 모형이, 그리고 FIGARCH 모형보다는 FIAPARCH 모형이 다른 변동성 모형들보다 근소하지만 우월한 VaR 성과를 나타내었다. 하지만 표본외 VaR 분석의 정확성 검정 결과, 검정 모형에 따라서 다소 차이가 났으며, 일부 국가에서는 정규분포를 가정한 FIGARCH 모형이 전반적으로 우월한 VaR 측정성과를 나타내는 등 특별히 우월한 VaR 성과를 나타내는 모형을 찾을 수 없었다. 이는 복잡한 모형들이 항상 VaR 측정에 최적의 모형이 아님을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 본 연구에서 아시아 이머징 주식시장에 변동성의 비대칭성, 장기기억, 변동성 군집현상, 레버리지 효과 등의 대표적인 특징이 존재하는 것으로 나타났고, 표본내 분석에서 변동성의 특징들을 잘 나타내는 skewed Student-t 분포를 적용한 FIAPARCH 모형이 다른 모형에 비해 우월한 성과를 나타낸 만큼, 위험관리자나 투자자들은 변동성의 특징을 고려한 최적의 VaR 모형의 선택이 필요할 것이다. In this paper, we investigate the relevance of the skewed Student-t distribution innovation in capturing long memory and asymmetric features in the volatility of five Asian emerging stock markets. In this perspective, we compare the performance of in-sample and out-of-sample Value-at-Risk(VaR) analysis using the AR(1)-FIGARCH and AR(1)-FIAPARCH models with the normal, Student-t and skewed Student-t distributions. Our empirical results indicated that the AR(1)-FIAPARCH model is more appropriate in estimating long memory and asymmetric features in the volatility of all stock returns. In addition, the in-sample VaR analysis confirms that the FIAPARCH model with the skewed Student-t innovation predicted critical loss more accurately than did the models with the normal and Student-t innovations for both long and short positions. However, the out-of-sample analysis do not point out superior models with different distributions, implying that models with complicated assumptions are not the best model for VaR estimations.

        미국과 아시아 주식시장 간의 변동성 상관관계 분석: FIGARCH-DCC 모형

        본 연구는 미국 주식시장과 8개국 아시아 주식시장의 조합을 통해 변동성 특징 및 변동성 전이현상을 분석하였다. 이를 위해서, 변동성 장기기억특성과 전이현상을 분석하기 위해 이변량 FIGARCH-DCC 모형을 이용하였다. 또한, DCC 모형을 이용하여 주식시장 간의 공분산(covariance)을 측정하여 최적 포트폴리오 가중치와 최소 헷지비율을 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미국-한국 조합의 상관계수가 가장 높은 반면, 미국-중국 조합이 가장 낮은 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 미국과 한국 주식시장으로 구성된 포트폴리오에 투자를 기피할 가능성이 크며, 미국과 중국 주식시장으로 구성된 포트폴리오에 대한 투자를 선호할 것으로 예상된다. 둘째, 최근의 세계금융위기가 주식시장 간의 상관관계를 증대시키는 것으로 분석 되었다. 이는 한 국가의 주식시장의 정보가 다른 국가의 주식시장에 연쇄적으로 영향을 주고 있고, 이러한 변동성 전이현상은 시간이 갈수록 더 빈번해지고 강해지고 있다. 마지막으로, 헷지비율을 분석한 결과 미국-중국의 포트폴리오 조합이 가장 효율적인 헷지전략을 제공하는 것으로 분석되었다. This study has investigated the volatility features and volatility spillover effect between US and 8 Asian stock markets. To estimate the long memory volatility characteristic and volatility spillover effect, we consider a bivariate FIGARCH model and measure the optimal portfolio weight and hedging ratio with the framework of dynamic conditional correlation (DCC). Our analysis provides three important implications: (1) the pair of US-Korea has the highest correlation, whereas the pair of US-China hold the lowest correlation. It seems that investors choose the portfolio between US and China because of negative correlation; (2) the correlations dramatically increase after the 2008 global finance crisis, implying that the information is widespreadly transmitted around the world; (3) the hedging ratio confirms that the portfolio of US-China is the most efficient.
