Tetracycline 처리된 차폐막이 치은 섬유아세포에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane on the human gingival fibroblast attachment. To evaluate the cell attachment to membrane, the number of gingival fibroblast attached to e-PTFE membrane was counted by hemocytometer. Also the cytotoxic effect of tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane on human gingival fibroblast was measured by Wataha's MTT assay. After tetracycline-treated barrier membrane was exposed to culture media for 24 hours, cell attaachment to membrane and cytotoxic effect were measured. The results were as follows; As for cell proliferation rate, total cell number increase in both control group and tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane in course of time, but the cell numbers were decreased to half in tetracycline-treated barrier membrane as in the control group. In MTT assay, tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane showed moderate to weak cytotoxic effect compared to non-treated control. At the begining, tetracycline-treated, so was barrier membrane released abundant tetracycline and so decreased the number of cell attached barrier membrane, but not almost observed cellular activity inhibition on attached cell and as decreasing tetracycline-treated barrier membrane, the number of attached cell were increased. These results might suggest that tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane showed relatively low proliferation rate of attached cells, but weak cytotoxic effect. So it is suggested tetracycline-treated e-PTFE membrane could bind gingival connective tissue normally and the healing site could gain stability.
Chitosan 濾過 System을 利用한 새로운 中水道 工程의 開發과 溫泉水 淨化에 관한 硏究

각종 금속이나 중금속을 비롯하여 각종 오염물(SS, COD, BOD, CI 등)을 강력히 흡착제거하는 성능을 가진 chitosan(Cs)응집제와 여과사(SF) 및 활성탄 column(ACC)을 병용하여 hotel잡수와 온천사용수등의 정화실험을 행하여 생물학적 처리과정을 생략할 수 있는 사용수의 재활용 process(Fig. 1)를 개발하였다. 이 process에서 hotel 잡수의 경우 20ppm의 chitosan 투입으로 1차응집 처리하여 약 60%이상의 오염물을 제거한 후 여과사와 활성탄 column을 이용하여 최종적으로는 80~99%의 오염물을 제거할 수 있었다. 또한 온천수의 경우 20ppm의 chitosan 투입으로 1차응집 처리하여 약 50%이상의 COD와 BOD의 제거율을 달성할 수 있었다. 따라서 이러한 process를 산업현장에 적용할 경우 종전의 생물학적 공정을 생략하거나 소규모화하여 보다 간편하며 처리공간이나 경비등을 절감하면서도 사용수를 방류수 또는 재활용수 기준이내로 처리할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 수자원 보호나 수자원 재활용면에서 크게 기여 되리라 믿는다. A simplifid and economic process for recycling the used water discharged from a large scale residence(e. g. hotel and apartment etc.) was developed. The used water was purified through adsorption and flocculation of contaminants by chitosan at the first stage where the average removal rates of COD and BOD of the used water were found more than 60%. The previously treated water through flocculation by chitosan was subjected to filtration systems of a sand filter and an activated carbon column, and the average removal rates of COD and BOD were found more than 80%. The experimental results suggest that the biological process which is very popular in the treatment of the used water for the removal of COD and BOD can be omitted and expected to reduce a spacial and running expenditure. On the other hand, testing the used water discharged from hot springs with chitosan proves a possibility of development of a simple and economical process for the treatment of the used water to the criteria of recycled water quality without any addition of more complicated equipments and facilities.

We have encountered a rare case of symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating Escherichia coli sepsis in a 47-years-old male. He was successfully treated with antibiotics, anticoagulants, and vasodilator. To our knowledge, this is the first report on symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating E. coli sepsis in Korea.

A 17-yr-old young woman was referred to our hospital with a 2-yr history of claudication of the lower extremities and severe arterial hypertension. Physical examination revealed significantly different blood pressures between both arms (160/92 and 180/95 mmHg) and legs (92/61 and 82/57 mmHg). The hematological and biochemical values were within their normal ranges, except for the increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (83 mm/hr) and C-reactive protein (6.19 mg/L). On 3- dimensional computed tomographic angiography, the ascending aorta, the aortic arch and its branches, and the thoracic and, descending aorta, but not the renal artery, were shown to be stenotic. The diagnosis of type IIb Takayasu’s arteritis was made according to the new angiographic classification of Takayasu’s arteritis, Takyasu conference 1994. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty with stenting was performed on the thoracic and abdominal aorta. After the interventional procedures, the upper extremity blood pressure improved from 162/101 mmHg to 132/85 mmHg, respectively. She has been free of claudication and there have been no cardiac events during 2-yr of clinical follow-up.

<P>We prospectively investigated the association between a change of serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patient prognosis. The study involved 147 patients with unresectable HCC treated at the National Cancer Center, Korea, between July and December 2005. Serum samples were collected from each patient before TACE, and 1-2 days and 1 month after TACE. Serum VEGF concentrations were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The log(e)(VEGF/platelets) increased transiently 1-2 days after TACE and declined thereafter. Frequency of previous TACE did not correlate with log(e)(VEGF/platelets). This study found that log(e)(VEGF/platelets) 1-2 days after TACE, but not log(e)(VEGF/platelets) at baseline, was strongly correlated with vascular or nodal invasion and AJCC (American Joint Committee on Cancer)/UICC (International Union Against Cancer) stage, and was significantly greater in men. Relative changes in serum VEGF/platelet levels 1-2 days after TACE (DeltaVEGF) > 0.5 were directly correlated with tumor size, vascular invasion and modified UICC and AJCC/UICC stage (P < 0.05 for each). Additionally, DeltaVEGF > 0.5 was significantly correlated with newly developed extrahepatic metastases one and six months after TACE (P = 0.005 and 0.003, respectively). Progression free survival of patients with DeltaVEGF > 0.5 was significantly worse (P < 0.001) and DeltaVEGF > 0.5 was an independent prognostic factor for PFS (hazard ratio, 3.111; P < 0.001). This study showed that a high increment in serum VEGF level 1-2 days after TACE in HCC patients was associated with distant metastasis and unfavorable outcomes.</P>

Electrical shock is most effective management in patients with hemodynamically unstable serious arrhythmias. But clinical course of survived patients resuscitated by large number and amount of electrical shock because of various situations was a little known. We report a case of myocardial infarction complicating ventricular fibrillation, successfully resuscitated by large number and amount of electrical shock, 35 times, cumulative amount of 7920J.
