The study examines the medical potential of an ultrasonic C-scanning technique and for diagnosis of the fatigue induced micro-fractures of the bone. In general, it is not easy to detect the microfracture by a simple radiological technique. In the study, the microfractures were made on the tibia taken from pigs using a three point bending. Comparison was made between the ultrasonic C-scan images (25 MHz) and X-ray images of the bones with the micro-fractures, It was found that the micro-fractures invisible on the X-ray images were observed on the ultrasonic images. It is proposed further in-vitro and in-vivo studies making the ultrasonic C-scan technique clinically useful for the diagnosis of the fatigued induced micro-fractures of the bone which are not possible to detect by the conventional radiological method.

Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate economic feasibility of operating Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Centers using cost-benefit analysis. Methods: The current study assessed cost and benefit data collected from nine hospitals which were designated as Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Centers between 2008 and 2010. Results: The operation of Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Centers reduced mortality rate and length of stay due to acute myocardial infarction and stroke and also decreased disability occurred after stroke. The total calculated cost of operating nine Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Centers was 19.85-22.30 billion won and the minimum benefit calculated was 23.98 billion won. Applying the maximum cost and the minimum benefit, the net benefit was 1.68 billion won, which is estimated to 190 million won per Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Center. Conclusions: The present study revealed that the operation of Regional Cardiocerebrovascular Centers was economically beneficial. The benefit would be larger if intangible benefit such as the long-term effects to community hospitals and enhancement of quality of life of patients and their families are considered.

The puper studies the relationship between plants and audio signals. Responses of plant are transformed to electrical signals and digitized to process them on computer. Variance and mean are used for spatial domain analysis. and Fourier transform is used for frequency responses analysis as tools. We used celery cabbage, cucumber, parsley and onions as experimental plants. With this experiments, we found out that specific plants are sensitive to specific music signals and external stimulus.

In 1995, The American National Standard Institute(ANSI) is planning to release a standard for the performance testing of personnel extremity dosimeters as ANSI N13.32 standard. The standard is applicable to a personnel extremity dosimeter process used for determing the dose equivalent to the extremities at the reference depth of 7㎎/㎠, as recommended by the International Commission for Radiation Units and Measurements Reports 39. In this study, theoretical calculations of dose equivalent were performed by using a Monte Carlo N-particle transport code for the two types of extremity phantom: one to represent a lower arm or leg composed of tissue and bone to test wrist or ankle dosimeters, and the other to represent a finger to test ring of hand dosimeters. The dose equivalent of the two extremity phantoms by taking consideration of the distribution of absorbed dose due to the interaction of homogeneous parallel broad beam of monoenergetic primary photons in the range between 15 keV and 1.5 MeV result from the kerma approximation with the Monte Carlo method.
옥내/외 압력차에 따른 실내라돈(^222Rn) 유입 예측 모델에 관한 연구

Indoor radon is produced in primarily by pressure differentials from indoor/sub-slab and indoor/outdoor environment. The differential pressure between two separated regions was changed theoretically into differential temperature by using the ideal gas law. The difference between model prediction and measurements can be characterized by Mean Square Error(MSE) method. The MSE value of 0.11 Pa shows good agreement between predicted pressure differentials and measured pressure differentials.

Recently the more stringent emission standards of government promulgate the incentive for developing the technology capable of simultaneous removal of SO₂ and NOx from flue gas. This study was to develope an enhanced absorbent in reactivity and adsorption ability for removing SO₂and NOx from flue gas. The characteristics of spray drying absorption(SDA) process and status of SDA process were studied, as well as analysis of properties of absorbent and its manufacturing method. CaO, MgO, and NaHCO₃were selected as a alkali reagent, and they were mixed with fly ash(FA) or activated carbon powder(AC) and their the reactivity and adsorption ability toward SO₂and NOx were greatly enhanced through got water curing process. Among the highest. The surface area of MgO mixed with FA(30%) was greater than NaHCO₃, but the SO₂and NOx removal performance of MgO mixed with FA(30%) was much lower than that of NaHCO₃. The removal quantity of SO₂and NOx per mole of NaHCO₃mixed with FA(30%) was 2.7 mole, this meant that the effect of physical adsorption was greater than chemical reaction between absorbent and acid gases.

The purpose of this study is to measure and determine accurately the critical mass which is the most important unclear characteristics in operation of AGN-201 reactor and the minimum amount of unclear fuel, U-235, to sustain chain reaction. The reactor temperature to affect critical mass was 18.4℃ during performing this experiment. As the result of critical experiment, the critical mass is 687.5 grams under the temperature condition mentioned the above.

Tube degradation have many effects on steam generator life. Inconel-690 was tube material which was developed to enhance corrosion resistance in early 1970's. So, computer programs(SAFE, BUNDLE, LOTUS, MECH) were organized in personal computer to expect design effects of steam generator which uses Inconel-690. After preliminary general design was performed, the effects of tube material on steam generator dimension was analysed and Inconel-690 tube bundle was compared with Inconel-690 tube bundle with a view to purchase price.

An experimental investigation of the neutron temperature which is important to both reactor design and studying on neutron thermalizing behavior has been performed using AGN-201 reactor. Among two methods, danger coefficient technique and neutron transmission technique, later method is adapted in the present study. Gold and Indium are used as transmission materials. The results showed that the neutron temperature is 486 ˚K using Gold foil, and 434˚K with Indium foil.
