<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this work, a Prussian blue (PB)/graphene oxide (GO)/chitosan (CS) organic-inorganic composite was successfully synthesized and utilized as an adsorbent for the selective removal of cesium (Cs<SUP>+</SUP>) ions. Taking the advantage of synergistic effect GO, CS and PB nanoparticles, the PB/GO/CS composite exhibited maximum adsorption capacity of 48.35 mg g<SUP>−1</SUP> for Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions. In the presence of competitive monovalent cations (K<SUP>+</SUP> and Na<SUP>+</SUP>), PB/GO/CS showed excellent selectivity (86%) for Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions and had a 6-fold higher distribution coefficient (<I>K</I> <SUB>d</SUB>) than GO/CS. This enhanced adsorption capacity with high selectivity of PB/GO/CS for Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions may have been attributed to (i) the presence of carboxylic, hydroxyl and amino functional groups on GO/CS matrix which strongly bind Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions through electrostatic attraction and chelation, and (ii) the trapping of Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions by the voids of the FCC-structured PB lattice whose size is equivalent to the hydration radius of Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions. Due to its low-cost, facile preparation, high adsorption capacity, and superior Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions selectivity, PB/GO/CS is a promising material for the selective removal of the Cs<SUP>+</SUP> ions from the environment and for protecting ecosystems from the radiation hazards.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Low-cost organic-inorganic hybrid adsorbent for the selective removal of radioactive Cs. </LI> <LI> Exhibit high cesium (Cs) adsorption capacity of 48.35 mg g<SUP>−1</SUP>. </LI> <LI> Confer high structural stability due to strong electrostatic interaction between GO and CS. </LI> <LI> Excellent selectivity for Cs as the hydration radius of Cs matches with the void size of the PB lattice. </LI> <LI> Easy recovery of PB after Cs adsorption by immobilizing it with GO/CS matrix. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Current fire safety in the construction sites has developed piecemeal over a considerable period of time. However, the law and regulation of fire safety is insufficient to protect fire in the construction sites. The frequency of fire in the construction sites is very rare but it brings longterm deterioration durability of building structure and large scale industrial calamity. There are many process of works and each work deals with many kind of flammable material, so it is very difficult find a proper safety fire prevention. This study executed the questionnaire and fire experiment of the welding work to provide effective fire prevention counterplan.

In metropolitan, main streets manages 60-80% of the whole traffic in Korea even though its limited area and short extension. Main streets in urban has suffered congestion and a falling-off in capability of transportation due to its frequent discontinuity and disconnection. Especially Left-turn traffic mainly generates a shortage of fluidity in intersection although most intersection adopts Left-turn because of the peculiarity of traffic flows. To breakthrough this deterioration, U-turn system goes into effect in intersection of most main streets by reducing Left-turn phase or banning Left-turn at specific intersections to increase the fluidity of main direction. However, U-turn system lacks continuity and reveals security deficits because its legal basis and safety standard are not definitive. Therefore, this study, firstly, investigates the special characteristics of U-turn system, analyzes its effects based on the case of Busan city making the survey of drivers' awareness on U-turn. Then, secondly, This study aims to suggest more efficient and executive operating program for U-turn system by constructing proper Signal time model for U-turn.

Recently, parallel kinematic machine tool with high accuracy and stiffness is causing great concern in 5-Axis processing which is applied in manufacturing with complicated shape products. However, there are some inherent difficulties in parallel kinematic machine tool such as a collision between workpiece and tool, over-cut and under-cut, verification of tool path route in progress. To solve these problem in advance, it needs machine simulation of parallel kinematic machine tool above all things. the purpose of this study is, therefore, carried out machine simulation for parallel kinematic machine tool and accumulation of technical knowledge for the productivity and efficiency in parallel kinematic machine tool through verification of 5-Axis machining.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of common causes of cancer-related death in Korea where the majority of HCC patients were Hepaitc B virus(HBV)carriers and have cirrhosis. Transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)is commonly applied to the treatment of multinodular HCC in Korea and careful selection of candidate is important for the risk of various side effects. Besides common side effects as fever, nausea, abdominal pain and elevation of liver enzyme, TACE may predispose to hepatic failure, ischemic cholecystitis, pulmonary embolism, cerebral embolism and pneumonitis. In previous studies, some cases of pulmonary and cerebral embolism cases were reported but lipiodol pneumonitis after TACE was rarely reported. A 65-year-old woman with a multinodular HCC associated with HBV infection, was treated with TACE. Seven days after the procedure, nonspecific respiratory symptoms such as dyspnea and dry cough developed. Chest X-ray and chest computed tomography showed diffuse ground glass opacities in whole lung fields, suggestive of lipiodol pneumonitis. After several days of supportive care with steroid administration, radiologic abnormalities and subjective symptoms were much improved, considered that the disease was compatible with lipiodol pneumonitis.

Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.

The neuroprotective effects of a butanol fraction of white rose petal extract (WRPE-BF) were investigated in a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model. Seven week-old male rats were orally administered WRPE-BF for 2 weeks and subjected to MCAO for 2 h, followed by reperfusion. Twenty-four h later, MCAO-induced behavioral dysfunctions were markedly improved in a dose-dependent manner by pretreatment with WRPE-BF. Moreover, higher dose of WRPE-BF not only decreased infarction area but also effectively reduced astrogliosis. The expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2, and glial fi brillary acidic protein in MCAO model were markedly inhibited by WRPE-BF treatment. Notably, WRPE-BF decreased nitric oxide and malondialdehyde levels in the striatum and subventricular zone of stroke-challenged brains. These data suggested that WRPE-BF may exert its neuroprotective effects via anti-oxidative and anti-infl ammatory activities against ischemia-reperfusion brain injury and could be a good candidate as a therapeutic target for ischemic stroke.
