A model combustor has been designed and fabricated for studying the combustion characteristics of oxygen (O2)/hydrogen (H2) flames under supercritical conditions. The combustor is designed to allow combustion experiments up to 60 bar, the supercritical pressure condition of O2 and H2. Injectors can be replaced to study various types of flames and the combustion chamber is designed to visualize flames by installing optical windows. Through the preliminary tests, including a high-pressure (up to 60 bar) test using air and combustion tests for coaxial jet flames of liquid oxygen (LO2)/gaseous hydrogen (GH2) at elevated pressure, the reliability of the combustor has been demonstrated.

A combustion chamber is designed and fabricated for studying the combustion characteristics of counterflow flames at elevated pressure and establishing the fundamental combustion database of counterflow flames. The combustion chamber design aims to allow the maximum operating pressure of 11 bar and be able to conduct flame visualization and the measurements of flame extinction limits, flame temperature and combustion emissions at elevated pressure. Preliminary tests for counterflow nonpremixed CH4-NH3-N2/air flames at 1-3 bar have been conducted, and the results confirm the proper operation of the designed chamber.

Burj Dubai Tower is the tallest building under construction by Samsung Engineering & Construction, built in Duabi, UAE. The tall buildings involve excessive degrees of freedom so that the computational effort involved in determining the dynamic response becomes excessive. To reduce the computational effort, system reduction scheme is used in this paper. The response of tall buildings under strong wind turbulence or earthquake has a severe influence on the structural safety and comport of occupants. Hence some vibration control device have been needed to control the displacement and acceleration responses. The purpose of this study was to analyze dynamic characteristics and control performance of TMD for Burj Dubai Tower.

In metropolitan, main streets manages 60-80% of the whole traffic in Korea even though its limited area and short extension. Main streets in urban has suffered congestion and a falling-off in capability of transportation due to its frequent discontinuity and disconnection. Especially Left-turn traffic mainly generates a shortage of fluidity in intersection although most intersection adopts Left-turn because of the peculiarity of traffic flows. To breakthrough this deterioration, U-turn system goes into effect in intersection of most main streets by reducing Left-turn phase or banning Left-turn at specific intersections to increase the fluidity of main direction. However, U-turn system lacks continuity and reveals security deficits because its legal basis and safety standard are not definitive. Therefore, this study, firstly, investigates the special characteristics of U-turn system, analyzes its effects based on the case of Busan city making the survey of drivers' awareness on U-turn. Then, secondly, This study aims to suggest more efficient and executive operating program for U-turn system by constructing proper Signal time model for U-turn.
