        Objectives: For the purpose of preparing the fundamental data and assessing the status of exposure level of chemical substances in painting process. Methods and Materials: The author determined the concentration of organic solvents, lead(Pb), Chromium(Cr), and Toluene-2, 4-diisocyanate(TDI) in air of painting process to 90 industries classified by 15 types of manufacturing industry during a period from Jan. 1st 2001 to Dec. 31st 2001. Results: The results were as follows: 1. The geometric mean level of each chemical substance was 0.1706 ppm for exposure index in organic solvents, 0.0019㎎/㎥ for Pb, 0.0024 ㎎/㎥ for Cr, and 0.0004ppm for TDI, respectively. 2. The exposure level of each chemical substances by type of painting was the highest in dipping and brush painting for organic solvent, in spray-painting for TDI, and in spray gun-painting for Pb and Cr, respectively. 3. The exposure level of each chemical substances by type of local ventilation equipment was higher in enclosed and booth type for organic solvents. Cr, and TDI, and in exterior type for Pb, respectively than those of other types. 4. The exposure level of each chemical substances by type of hazardous material arresting media was higher in using water for organic substances, in using bag filter for Pb, TDI, respectively than those of other types. Conclusion: According to above results, this study suggests that the exposure level by type of industry exceeded the exposure level in wooden furniture and metal furniture manufacturing industry for organic solvents and Pb, respectively.

        Effects of dietary supplementation of Pediococcus pentosaceus strains from kimchi in weaned piglet challenged with Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica

        Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella enterica (SE) infections in pigs are major source associated with enteric disease such as post weaning diarrhea. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Pediococcus pentosaceus in weaned piglets challenged with pathogen bacteria. In Experiment.1 90 weaned piglets with initial body weights of 8.53 ± 0.34 kg were assigned to 15 treatments for 2 weeks. The experiments were conducted two trials in a 2 × 5 factorial arrangement of treatments consisting of two levels of challenge (challenge and non-challenge) with E. coli and SE, respectively and five levels of probiotics (Control, Lactobacillus plantarum [LA], Pediococcus pentosaceus SMFM2016-WK1 [38W], Pediococcus acidilactici K [PK], Lactobacillus reuteri PF30 [PF30]). In Experiment.2 a total of 30 weaned pigs (initial body weight of 9.84 ± 0.85 kg) were used in 4 weeks experiment. Pigs were allocated to 5 groups in a randomized complete way with 2 pens per group and 3 pigs per pen. Supplementation of LA and 38W improved (p < 0.05) growth performance, intestinal pathogen bacteria count, fecal noxious odor and diarrhea incidence. In conclusion, supplementation of 38W strains isolated from white kimchi can act as probiotics by inhibiting E. coli and SE.

        Discordance in Spirometric Interpretations Based on Korean and Non-Korean Reference Equations

        Objectives: Korean regression models for spirometric reference values are different from those of other ethnic groups. The purpose of this study was to evaluate discordance in spirometric interpretations based on using Korean reference equations versus non-Korean reference equations. Methods: Spirometry was performed on 825 Korean male workers from April 2009 to November 2011. The spirometric patterns and disease severity were evaluated using two Korean equations (Choi’s and Lee’s) and three equations for Caucasians (NHANES III, Morris’s, and Knudson’s), and the results of Choi’s equation were compared with the non-Korean equations. The spirometric patterns were defined as normal, restrictive, and mild and moderate obstructive. Results: The mean differences in the FEV1% and FVC% between the two Korean equations were 2.0 ± 1.3% and 3.5 ± 2.2%, respectively. Morris’s equation had the greatest difference in the FEV1% from Choi’s equation: 32.9 ± 8.5%. Knudson’s equation had the greatest difference in the FVC% from Choi’s equation: 10.5 ± 6.5%. Conclusions: The two Korean equations shared similar characteristics of spirometric interpretation. The spirometric interpretations of Choi’s equation were significantly different from those of Morris’s equation and Knudson’s equation.

      • Rocuronium의 애별투여방법이 모지내전근의 이완에 미치는 영향

        Objective : There are controversies in pnmmg technique of rocuronium whether it can or can't shorten the onset time. We want to compare the effects of two different priming doses and intervals of rocuronium. Materials and Methods : After giving propofol, 50 patients were randomly assigned to 5 groups. Group I received a placebo, followed 3 min later by rocuronium 0.6 mg/kg. Priming doses and intervals of Group II, Ill, N, V were 0.06 rng/kg and 2 min, 0.12 mg/kg and 2 min, 0.06 rug/kg and 3 min, 0.12 mg/kg and 3 min, respectively. Total dose of rocuronium was 0.6mg/kg. Train of four (TOF) count or ratio and 1st twitch height of TOF (T1) were monitored with 15 secondsintervals. TOF ratio of each groups just before bolus injection, duration for TOF count to reach zero and duration for Tl to reach 95% depression after bolus injection were compared. Results : Duration for TOF count to reach zero and duration for Tl to reach 95% depression after bolus injection were decreased in priming groups compared to Group 1 (P < 0.01) In group V, significant depression of TOF ratio just before bolus injection was seen (P < 0.05). Conclusion : Priming technique with rocuronium is effective method to shorten the onset of neuromuscular block. But priming dose of rocuronium itself could cause hypoxia and aspiration in awake patients and should be used carefully. Priming dose of rocuronium 0.06 mg/kg and 2 minutes interval maybe relatively safe method.

      • 문천지의 남조류 및 환경요인의 변화와 수화현상

        This study investigated to the composition of Cyanophyceae and its ecological factors during the Blue-Green algal bloom in the Moon-chon reservoir. Cyanophyceae was total 61 taxa composed of 2 orders, 2 suborders, 4 families, 20 genera, 60 species, 1 varity. The changes of standing crops were the maximum as 4.8 × 10⁴ cells/㎖ at station 1 on September and minimum as 2.3 × 10³ cells/㎖ at station 2 on July. Dominant species were Microcystis aeruginosa, Oscillatoria limosa, Phormidium uncinatum, Oscillatoria tenuis and Coelosphaerium kuetzingianum. The dominance index ranged from 0.12 to 0.37, and the diversity was very wide as the range from 0.50 to 1.02, also evenness diversed such as two index. Correlation coefficient in standing crop of Cyanophyceae was low to the electric conductivity (r=-0.72∼0.11), but high to water temperature(r=0.33∼.50) and chlorophyll-a concentration(r=0.26-0.58).

      • 位相差 檢出方式을 利用한 토크미터에 대한 實驗的 考察

        본 연구에서는 기존의 토크미터의 기계적 특성을 높이기 위하여 STS 304와 복합재료를 회전축에 사용한 위상차 검출방식의 토크미터를 개발하였다. 실험결과, 동시접합방식을 이용하여 제작된 토크미터 회전축의 기계적 특성이 다른 방식으로 제작된 것보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 유리강화복합재료의 적충각이 30˚, 동시 접합방식으로 접합된 토크미터 회전축의 고유진동수와 반경방향 강성은 STS304재질만을 이용하여 제작된 회전축보다 각각 64%, 137% 증가되어지는 것을 실험을 통해 증명하였다. In this study the angular twist type torque-meter was designed and manu factured with STS 304 and fiber-feinforced composite materials to improve the dynamic properties of the existing torque-meter. From the experimental and analytical results, it was found that the dynamic characteristics of co-cured bonded torque-meter rotating shaft were better than those of the adhesively and unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft. For the torque-meter rotating shaft manufactured by co-cured bonded with kthe glass fiber-epoxy composite and with a stacking sequence of [±30˚/STS304]??, the natural frequency and the radial stiffness were increased by 64% and 137% compared to those of the unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft.

      • 흰쥐에서 사염화탄소에 의해 유도된 간 상해에 미치는 키토산 올리고당의 영향

        Chitosan is the deacetylated product of chitin. Chitosan and its derivatives have many properties that make them attractive for a wide variety of health applications. We reported recently that water soluble chitooligosaccharides have hepatoprotective effect on ethanol induced liver injury in the mouse. The current study examined the effect of water soluble chitooligosaccharides on CC1₄-induced liver injury in rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were orally treated with CC1₄without or with administration of 5% chitooligosaccharides. After 5 weeks after CC1₄treatment, the histological sections and the expression of mRNA of interleukin-12(IL-12), hepatocyte growth factor(HGF), and tumor necrosis factor(TNF- ) were examined. The liver section of rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides showed attenuated effects of the necrosis, steatosis, cirrhosis compared with those of non-supplemented rats. The level of TNF- mRNA in CC1₄-treated rats were higher than those in the rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides, while the levels of IL-12 and HGF mRNA were higher in the rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides than those of in CC1₄-treated rats. These findings suggested that water soluble chitooligosaccharides may have a hepatoprotective activity against CCl₄-induced liver injury in rats.

        본 연구는 도시공학 전공 학생의 국가기술자격 취득 및 취업, 진학 등에 필수적으로 요구되는 도시공학 관련 기초지식을 연마하고 전공지식을 심화 교육함으로서 산·학·연 연계체계에 기초하여 도시공학 전공 학생의 취업증진을 도모하기 위한 종합적이고 구체적인 방안을 모색하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 사회수요에 부응하기 위한 기술교육의 강화, 국가기술자격 취득 제고, 현장실습제도 등 3가지 측면에서 취업증진을 위한 추진실적 및 문제점을 점검하고 이에 대한 향후 개선방안을 모색하고자 하였다. The purpose of this study is to search for the comprehensive and concrete methods of increasing the graduates' employment based on both fundamental and advanced knowledge concerned urban engineering major. For this , existing condition, problems and improvement of students employment are searched in 3 view points such as strengthening of technical education to follow the social demands, enhancement of acquisition of the national qualifying examination and making the best of the field training system.

      • 탄소섬유와 석면을 보강한 시멘트 복합재료의 압축, 인장 및 휨 강도에 관한연구

        This study was carried out to examine the reducing ability of asbestos quantity added in asbestos reinforced cement composite(ARC). The using amount of asbestos is subject to restriction from 10-20 vol% to 5-10 vol%,because it is very harmful cancerogenic substance. Asbestos was replaced by pitch based isotropic carbon fiber, and then the mechanical properties, compressive, tensile and flexural strengths were tested as a function of mixing proportions. The results are as follows 1) The compressive strength of carbon fiber and asbestos reinforced cement composite(CFARC) was greater than ARC by superplasticizer, reducingW/C ratio to 20 percent. 2) The tensile strength of CFARC was showed increasing trend up to 52% compared to ARC at 5% carbon fiber volume fraction. 3) The flexural strength of CFARC was showed increasing trend up to 17% cowpared to ARC at 5% carbon fiber volume fraction.

        구강병 예방진료 일부항목의 건강보험급여를 위한 재정추계 연구

        Objectives: This study aims (1) to determine the actuarial budget of national insurance payment for some items of preventive dental service and (2) to obtain basic data to develop dental policy which is for including preventive dental service within insurance payment. Methods: Pit and Fissure Sealing (PFS), Self-plaque Control Instruction (S-PCI), and Fluoride Topical Application (FTA) were selected for some items of preventive dental service. The actuarial budget of insurance payment was calculated through multiplying followings; 1) Applicable population or number of teeth (based on population data and Korean National Oral Health Survey 2000) 2) The usual and customary fee of 2001 from three dental colleges which have preventive dental clinic or RBRVS (Resource-based relative value scale) fee which was multiplied the RBRVS developed through the research of Yonsei University and conversion factor Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare had announced at 2001 as 55.4 won 3) 70% of insurer share rate 4) The utilization rate of the items of preventive dental service presumed to be at least 5% and at the most 36% Results: Actuarial budgets of 1) PFS are 18.8 billion (usual and customary fee) and 5.7 billion (RBRVS fee) for 5% utilization rate and 135.1 billion (usual and customary fee) and 41 billion (RBRVS fee) for 36% utilization rate when limited to first molar and second molar which are firstly facing teeth of 6-14 age group; 2) FTA are 2.5 billion (usual and customary fee) and 1.5 billion (RBRVS fee) for 5% utilization rate and 18.3 billion (usual and customary fee) and 10.6 billion (RBRVS fee) for 36% utilization rate when applied only to 6-14 age group annually once; 3) S-PCI are 9.1 billion usual and customary fee) and 5.5 billion (RBRVS fee) for 5% utilization rate and 65.7 billion (usual and customary fee) and 39.8 billion (RBRVS fee) for 36% utilization rate when limited over 12 age group who could have periodontal pocket. Conclusions: The actuarial budgets of PFS, FTA, and S-PCI if they were included within insurance payment system are minimum 13 billion and maximum 219 billion. It is presumed, however, that over 1,000 billion for dental treatment and the pain and time consuming from oral &ease could be decreased when dental caries and periodontal disease were prevented effectively. As a conclusion, preventive dental service should be included to the insurance payment system to decrease budget.
