        The characteristics of ichthyofauna and fish community in the Lagoon Gyeongpo, Korea were investigated from May to October 2005. The total number of fish caught during the period was representing 26 specis and 18 families. Most dominant species was T. hakonensis(50.65%) and subdominant specis was A. flavimaus(25.41%). K. punctatatus(11.07%), M. cephalus(6.53%), E. japonicus(1.46%), C. castaneus(1.01%) were also numerous. The total biomass of collected fish showed 147.00kg, 135.83kg, 85.60kg,23.76kg, repectively. A pattern of the fish community according to seasonal veriations appear to be related tp spawning periods of species. Comparison of the ichthyofauna in present study with the references from early years suggests that there has been a gradual decrease, in composition, of primary freshwater specis accompanying with the increase of peripheral freshwater and seawater specis.

      • 황성군 일대의 육산 패류 분포에 관한 연구

        In order to explore the detailed distribution of land snails inhabitated in Heongseong, this study was conducted for 2 years (from March 20, 1992 to March 20, 1994) for four optional areas. Total appearances of species were 3 order, 1 Families, 17 Genera, 22 species and total individuals were 3,009. the dominant species were Chamalycaeus cyclophoroides and Diplommatina (Sinica) paxillus. The stati of land snails on size were that there were, in Minute species, Carychium pessinum with 1.5mm shell height and 0.8mm shell diameter, in macro species Acusta despecta sieboldiana, Koreanohadra Kurodana, Aegista (Plectotropis) diversa with 11-21mm sell height, 20-28mm shell diameter. The height and diameter variation of Aegista (Plectoropis) diversa were bigger than anyone else. Also, Numbers of spiral were four to 10, and body colors were mainly white or brown. In terms of inhabitation area, data were gathered more than 14 areas. Among them, species which were inhabitated in the fallen leaves were shown 31.8%, 9-15.9% in stone wall, garden and farming field. Especially Cionella lubrica being known endemic species of Ulung Island was confirmed in Hoengseong.

      • 높은 지향성을 갖는 Air Line 결합기 설계

        본 논문에서는, 일반적인 스트립 구조의 결합기가 갖는 문제 즉, 높은 온도에서 나쁜 특성을 보이는 문제점을 극복하고자 Air Line Type의 결합기를 구현하였다. 또한 이 결합기는 24dB이상의 지향성을 가지고 있다. 해석을 위해 짝수 모드와 홀수 모드 해석법을 사용하였고, EM-Simulation으로 확인한 특성과 실제 제작된 20dB, 30dB Cellular 대역(800∼900MHz) Air Line 결합기의 결고 특성은 좋은 일치를 보여주고 있다. 또한 최대 장점인 온도 특성은 온도 데이터를 통하여 온도에 강한 특성을 보임을 알 수 있다.

      • 급성골수성백혈병 환자에서 DAV 병용화학요법 후의 장기생존율

        Background : Despite substantial progress, the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia(AML) has produced complete remission in 60-80% of patients receiving induction chemotherapy, and median remission duration is about 12 months and only 20% to 35% of patients undergoing consolidation chemotherapy achieve long-term disease-free survival(DFS). We evaluated the long-term outcome of AML patients treated with doxorubicin/Ara-C/VP-16(DAV) induction chemotherapy and consolidation/intensification therapy. Method : Induction therapy : From January 1986 to December 1991, twenty three patients with previously untreated acute myelogenous leukemia received a course of 45mg/㎡ doxorubicin daily intravenously for three consecutive days with Ara-C at 100mg/㎡ by continuous intravenous infusion for eight consecutive days and VP-16 at 100mg/㎡ daily intravenously for three consecutive days. A second course of treatment was started if leukemia persisted on 22 days after treatment. Post-remission therapy : Three to six cycles were given at three or four months interval with Ara-C/doxorubicin/VP-16 regimen or other therapy. Results : Twenty two pateints were evaluable and complete remission was achieved in 16 of 22(73%). Median duration of complete remission was 8 months. The relapse rate was 81% and 63% relapsed in first year. 4-year survival rate of patients entering complete remission(n=16) was 19% and median survival duration was 14.5 months. The postremission chemotherapy was the only significant prognostic factor influencing long term disease free survival. No significant correlation was observed between the probability of survival and age (40< or >40), sex, FAR subgroup, and leukocyte count at diagnosis. The median survival duration were 21 months and 12.5 months for patients who received, or not received postremission chemotherapy respectively(P=0.035). Conclusion : Our results show that DAV combination chemotherapy is a useful therapeutic regimen in remission induction and postremission chemotherapy offering survival advantage in patients with AML entering complete remission.

      • 급성골수백혈병에 대한 관해유도화학요법 후의 Granulocyte Colony-stimulating Factor의 효과

        Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF) have been shown to hasten the recovery of neutropenia following anti-cancer chemotherapy. There are controversial opinions on the use of G-CSF in acute myelogenous leukemia(AML) because clonogenic studies have shown that G-CSF stimulates leukemic colonies as well as granulocyte colonies. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness and safety of recombinant human G-CSF after induction chemotherapy with DAV regimen(Ara-C 100mg/㎡ day 1-8, Doxorubicin 45mg/㎡ day 3-5, VP-16 100mg/㎡ day 6-8) in 9 patients with AML. G-CSF therapy(200 ㎍/㎡/day) was begun 2 days after the end of chemotherapy and continued for 10 days. 17 AML patients who recieved the same chemotherapy before the onset of this study were used as historical control. G-CSF shortened the duration of granulocytopenia (less than 500/㎣) significantly (13 vs 23 days, p<0.001), but it had no effect on platelet recovery. Although the incidence of febrile episodes was almost the same, the duration of febrile episodes was shorter in the group treated with G-CSF( 5 vs 12 days, p=0.03). There was no evidence that G-CSF accelerated the regrowth of leukemic cells and the complete remission rates between the 2 groups were not different. These results show that G-CSF accelerates the recovery of granulocytopenia and shortens the febrile days after chemotherpy in patients with AML, without affecting the regrowth of leukemic cells.

      • 개불(Ureshis unicinctus) 受精卵의 卵割類型과 形態形成에 關한 硏究

        The present study was carried out to examine the early embryogenesis of Urechis unicinctus in terms of its cleavage pattern and morphogenesis. The first sign of fertilization was the appearance of fertilization membrane, which was 20㎛ in maximum thickness. The cleavage pattern was equal holoblastic in early stage and partial unequal cleavage in later stage. There appeared the cavity in blastula, and then cilia which were derived from the peripheral blastomeres, activated the motility of the larva. Ultrastructures of cleaving zygote included microvilli on free cell surface, numerous nuclear pores of nucleus, well developed rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex and mitochondria in the cytoplasm. In addition, yolk granules and vesicles were also distributed in the cytoplasm. Cytokinesis was followed by the karyokinesis, through the formation of the cleavage furrow. Morphogenesis of Urechis unicinctus is summarized by the serial equal holoblastic cleavages, the cell movements, and the formations of a blastocoel and cilia.

      • 해산어와 담수어 신장의 미세구조 비교

        This study was carried out to examine the ultrastructural differences of the kidneys of a marine fish and a freshwater fish by light and electron microscopes. In the case of Carassius carassius, the kidney is characterized by numerous glomeruli. Renal tubule cells are columnar type and their organelles are fully differentiated. In the case of Ditrema temmincki glomeruli and Bowman's capsules are separated each other in the distribution. Renal tubule cells bear short or long microvilli toward the lumen. Invaginations of the cytoplasm at the tubular base are seen and mitochondria are well developed in terms of cristae. There are congested blood cells, particularly nucleated red blood cells, in the kidney of Sebastes inermis, so it is suggested that the organ is related with the hematopoietic function. In conclusion, ultrastructures of the kidneys have been adapted for the marine or freshwater environments.

        A new device, muscle clamping system was developed to facilitate exact quatifying technique A strabismus surgery, and reduce the risk of complications. The device is composed of a lower fixing body with three jaws and an upper supporting body. They are used to clip an extraocular muscle and fix it to the sclera with a single bite. Superior rectus recession on 16 rabbit eyes were performed with this new device. Conjunctival injection, muscle adhesion strength, and light microscopic findings were examined at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks postoperatively. The Conjunctival injection were minimal, adhesion power ranged from 420 to 600 gram gravity, which is sufficient in withstand the normal pull of human extraocular muscle. In microscopic exam, some Inflammatory cells and fibrosis were found. The new device was technically easy, fast, and accurate, so it may be useful in stabismus surgery.

        Biodegradable retinal fixation devices obtain mechnical fixation of the retina with desirable chorioretinal scarring and with the potential for local, sustained release of antimetabolites and steroids to inhibit proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack with barb that was designed in order to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. This study was carried to evaluate the efficacy for retinal fixation and the capability for sustained release of drugs with a newly designed biodegradable retinal tack Biodegradable retinal tacks were made of polymers of glycolic acids and were designed with barbs in a shape to prevent the disinsertion. Biodegradale retinal tacks are divided into 3 parts, a conical portion that is inserted into the sclera, a cylinder portion that remains in the vitreous, and a neck portion between the pin and the cylinder. The tapered conical end was manufactured to allow easy insertion through the retina and choroid into the sclera. A cylinder portion was manufactured with a tapered angle that fixes firmly into the orifice of 19 gauge spinal needle. A neck portion, 0.4 mm in diameter, was designed to prevent disinsertion from following implantation of retinal tack. The applicator was a 19 gauge spinal needle and its orifice was prepared to 15°angle to accept the tapered cylinder portion of the retinal tack. The retinal tacks, secured in the needles, were passed through the formed vitreous and inserted into the retina, choroid, and sclera and were released by pushing the internal needle, usually within 2-3mm of the medullary ray of the posterior rabbit retina A retinal tack was placed in each of 8 pigmented rabbit eyes. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy and fundus photography were performed periodically from 1 day to 8 weeks after surgery. Eight eyes were enucleated and studied by light microscopy at 8 weeks. Biomicroscopic evaluation of the animals revealed edemas adjacent to the retinal surfaces immediately after insertion of the biodegradable retinal tacks in all the animals. These edemas disappeared after 1 week. The first noticeable change in the size of retinal tacks was shown after 2weeks. The size of the retinal tacks gradually got smaller, decreasing to about one-half at 4 weeks and about one-third at 8 weeks. All retinal tacks remained in inserted places without any movement for an 8 week period. On light microscopy, epiretinal proliferations were seen to extend into the vitreous cavity. Cellular capsules that lined the inner aspect of the scleral defect caused by tack insertion were found. However the adjacent retina had a normal cytologic appearance and architecture in all specimens. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack that is designed to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. All biodegradable retinal tacks reduce in size with time, but no retinal tacks extruded from the inserted place. The newly designed biodegradable retinal tack can be used for retinal fixation and may be used as a vehicle for the introduction of pharmacologic agents to prevent the cellular events that promote proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

        Nitric oxide {NO} laduces apoptotic cell death In murine RAW 264.7 macrephages. To elucidate the inhlabitory effects of protein kinmac C (PKC) on NO-lmdwced apoptoles, we generated clones of RAW 264.7 cells that overexpress one of the PKC looforma and explered the powble Interactions between PKC and three stractarally related metegen-activated preblem (MAP)kiness In NO actiens. Treatment of RAW 264.7 cells with acdium mkrepruside (SNP), a NO tenerating agent , activated both c-Jun N-terminal kinesseltress-activated pretein kinase (JNK/SAPK) and p38 kinase, but did not activate extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)-1 and ERK-2 In additlen, SNP-imduced apopteels was mightly blocked by the selective p-38 kinesse Inhtblter (SB203580)but not by the MAP?ERK1 kiness Inbibitor (PD090059). PKC tranerrectants (PKC-βⅡ, -&, and -n) showed substantial pretection from cell deeth Induced by the expreture to NO downs such as SNP and S-nitroglutathiese (GSNO). In contract, in RAW 264.7 parent or in empty vecter-tracformed cells, these NO demmors imdneed imternucleosomal DNA cleavage. Mereover, overexpression of PKC isofornas signiflcammtly auppressed SNP-induced JNK/SAPK and p38 kinase activation, but did not affect ERK-1 and -2. We also explored the invelvement of CPP32-like preteose In the NO-INduced apeptoceds. Inhibithion of CPP32-like proteose prevented apoptions in RAWW 267.7 pareced cells In addition, SNP dramntically activated CPP32 in the parent or in empty vector-transformed cells, white slightly activated CPP32 in PKC transfectants. Therefore, we conclude that PKC protects NO-induced apoptotic cell death, preammably maMKying the NO-mediated activation of JNK/SAPK, p38 kinese, and CPP32-like protease in RAW 267.7 macrephages.
