This study proposes the low cost implementation of a wearable health-care system using PPG and 3-axis accelerometer. Our smart watch system was designed using OLED display, 3-axis accelerometer and Arduino board. The outer case of smart watch was made using 3D printer. Using our smart watch, we measured the heart rate and the number of steps taken in walking. The heart rate and steps are displayed on OLED display in real-time and are sent to user’s smart phone.

Daily inspection or working reports are widely used in manufacturing companies. A lot of useful information for process conditions and status are included in such documents. Although there is a large volume of such reports, most companies do not try to analyze them to improve their processes. To find optimal process condition, they usually adopt experimental design or evolutionary operations methods, which are quite useful in laboratories but difficult or not economical to be applied in actual manufacturing processes under operation. This study proposes a data mining procedure that might be effective in analyzing process data. The main idea lies in the categorical transformation of process data. As the range of the process variables and quality characteristics are quite narrow, it is hard to apply standard statistical analysis procedures. Therefore, it is necessary to transform the data to be suitable for analysis. In this study, data categorization is adopted and then conventional statistical tools such as contingency tables are applied. Such analysis extracted some patterns and information that can be used in searching optimal process conditions.
