        We traced the flow direction of Ipbong Andesite and dacite in Dalsan area, Yeongdeok. Elongate vesicles and lathlike plagioclase phenocysts are aligned in the outcrops or under microscope. The lineations from their alignment are excellently indicating the flow direction of lavas. The flow directions, which were measured from the lineations in the Ipbong Andesite, are NNW-SSE in the eastern part and NNE-SSW in the southwestern part. The flow lineations show a fanlike movement pattern from the mid-northern part that the diorite is distributed. The diorite area is prabably a potential source area of the andesite

        운동성 산화 스트레스와 항산화비타민의 보충이 말초단핵세포의 NF-kB 활성에 미치는 영향

        Reactive oxygen species(ROS) are implicated in the pathogenesis of a wide variety of human diseases. Numerous studies indicate that ROS may serve as common intracellular molecules that contribute to the process of nuclear factor(NF)κB activation in response to a diverse stimuli. In our laboratory, we have demonstrated tat antioxidants could reverse the decline of immune function caused by exercise-induced ROS. Furthermore, it in necessary to understand a mechanism underlying ROS-dependent disorder in biological system. Recent studies have been shown that several gene expression were regulated by oxidants, antioxidants and other determinants of the intracellular reduction-oxidation(redox) state. In this process, NF-κB have been shown to play a important role. The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate the effect of exercise-induced oxidative stress and antioxidnt supplementation on NF-κB activation in peripheral mononuclear cells. Forty male SD rats(4 weeks old) were randomly divided into noraml diet group and antioxidants(ATO) supplement group, and then ATO groups were treated with antioxidants(VE: 2001U/kg, VC: 50mg/rat, β-carotene: 300mg/kg, vitamin B6: 250㎍/100g, selenomethionine: 0.1mg/kg) for 16 weeks. After 16 weeks breeding at each condition, each group divided into two groups: Control group(CR) fed generally, Exercise group(CE) fed generally and followed by acute exercise 16 weeks later. Antioxidant Antioxidants and Exercise group(AE) fed with antioxidants and followed by acute exercise. The activation of NF-κB binding activity was increased after exhaustive exercise bout in both group. In addition, pretreatment of ATO group with the antioxidants mixture lead to the inhibition of NF-κB binding activity. This results suggest that NF-κB activation should be further studies in response to a variety of exercise.

      • 미세혈관 협심증 환자의 임상상 및 지표에 관한 연구

        Background : Microvascular angina or syndrom X is heterogenous and encompasses different pathogenetic entities. Several studies suggest that microvascular angina have good prognosis and occurs predominantly in postmenopausal women. Lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and fibrinogen are the independent risk factor of acute coronary syndrome and are the chief underlying cause of atherosclerosis. We investigated clinical characteristics and markers in patients with microvascular angina. Methods : We studies 23 patients diagnosed with microvascular angina and 16 control group with negative treadmill exercise test and no significant coronary angiogram. We investigated clinical characteristics in patients group and evaluated symptom during a follow-up period of 4.2± 2.5 month. Exercise time in treadmill exercise test was compared between patients and control group. We assessed the level of markers, such as lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and ESR in two groups. Results : There is no difference in age between two groups. Patients group had a tendency to increase in female, hypertension, DM, and smoking history, but there was no statistical significance difference. Exercise duration time was significantly decreased in patients with microvascular angina (p<0,05). Serum lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholestrol, Triglyceride, ESR, Fibrinogen and Homocystein value were no significant difference between microvascular angina and control group. Only CRP was significantly high in patients with microvascular angina (p<0.05). Conclusion : There was no statistical significance difference in age, sex, hypertension, DM and smoking history between two groups but patients group had a tendency to increase the prevalence in hypertension, DM and smoking history, female. Also, Symptom improvement and disappearance in follow-up was presented in 11 patients of 19(57.9%). Exercise tolerance was worse in patients group than control group. CRP value was significantly higher in patients group than control group. There was no statistical significance difference in lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, ESR and Fibrinogen between two groups.

        This study was undertaken to find out the modus of the origins of the right gastric arteries based upon 416 dissections of the Korean fetuses, which were injected with 8% vinylite solution added 3% fast red B in actone. The modus of the origins of the right gastric arteries was classified into 12 types and the occurence rates of each type were calculated and were compared with other investigators results.

        Articles : Optimization of Fractionation Operation in the Benzene-Toluene-Xylene Plant

        A steady-state optimization for the fractionation unit of an industrial benzene-toluene-xylene (BTX) plant was developed. Because the fractionation unit of the BTX plant has narrow ranges of boiling point and doesn`t have any sidecut and side reboiler, we employed the boiling point estimation method in the modeling and simulation of the unit. The well-known Soave-Redlich-Kwong state equation was employed to compute required thermodynamic properties. The results of simulations showed very good agreement with the actual operation data. The objective of the optimization was to maximize profit of fractionation unit. The successive quadratic programming algorithm was utilized and objective functions for each fractionation column were set up based on utility and operation costs and selling prices of products. The graphical user interface of the optimization system was developed to provide convenience and flexibility in actual applications.

        Recent trends in contraceptive use among Korean adolescents: Results from a nationwide survey from year 2013 to 2015

        Objective This study was aimed to evaluate the recent trends in contraceptive use among Korean adolescents. Methods Data reviewed were from the 2013-2015 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, which is a stratified, multistage-sampling designed online-based research project performed annually by the Korean government to ensure a nationally representative sample of Korean adolescence. Eight questions related to the topic of contraception were reviewed for the outcome variables. Results A total of 212,538 adolescents attending middle school and high school participated in the survey, and 8,755 students among them who were sexually active were included in the study. The percentage of contraceptive use showed a steady increase from 39% in 2013 to 48.7% in 2015; however, the proportion of adolescents who have never used any kind of contraception still remains high. Highly effective methods such as oral contraceptives and intrauterine devices were used by only 10% to 15% of sexually active adolescents. Conclusion The present study demonstrates the status of contraceptive use among Korean adolescents. Our data have the potential to help healthcare providers to formulate policies and develop interventions for encouraging effective contraceptive use among sexually active Korean adolescents.

        Genetic features associated with <SUP>18</SUP>F-FDG uptake in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

        Purpose: In intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA), genetic characteristics on <SUP>18</SUP>F-fluorodeoxyglucose (<SUP>18</SUP>F-FDG)-PET scans are not yet clarified. If specific genetic characteristics were found to be related to FDG uptake in iCCA, we can predict molecular features based on the FDG uptake patterns and to distinguish different types of treatments. In this purpose, we analyzed RNA sequencing in iCCA patients to evaluate gene expression signatures associated with FDG uptake patterns. Methods: We performed RNA sequencing of 22 cases iCCA who underwent preoperative <SUP>18</SUP>F-FDG-PET, and analyzed the clinical and molecular features according to the maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax). Genes and biological pathway which are associated with SUVmax were analyzed. Results: Patients with SUVmax higher than 9.0 (n = 9) had poorer disease-free survival than those with lower SUVmax (n = 13, P = 0.035). Genes related to glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, phosphorylation and cell cycle were significantly correlated with SUVmax (r ≥ 0.5). RRM2, which is related to the toxicity of Gemcitabine was positively correlated with SUVmax, and SLC27A2 which is associated with Cisplastin response was negatively correlated with SUVmax. According to the pathway analysis, cell cycle, cell division, hypoxia, inflammatory, and metabolism-related pathways were enriched in high SUVmax patients. Conclusion: The genomic features of gene expression and pathways can be predicted by FDG uptake features in iCCA. Patients with high FDG uptake have enriched cell cycle, metabolism and hypoxic pathways, which may lead to a more rational targeted treatment approach.

      • 점박이응애 ( Tetranychus urticae )알레르겐 성분 규명 및 집먼지진드기와의 교차항원성 연구

        N/A Background: The Tetranychus urticae (TU) is commonly found on fruit trees and green house flowers. A recent investigation demonstrated that the sensitization rate to TU was as high as that of HDM in respiratory allergy patients in middle part of South Korea. Material and methods : To identify IgE binding components within TU, sera from 8 TU-sen- sitive asthmatic patients and sera from unexposed controls showing negative response to TU on skin prick test were enrolled. SD5-PAGE and immunoblot analysis were applied. To evaluate cross-allergenieity with house dust mite (HDM) two kinds of serum pool were used: one (A) showing isolated positive response to TU and the other (B) showing positive responses to both TU and HDM. ELISA inhibition tests using sera A and B were were used. Results : TU-ELISA inhibition test using serum pool A showed significant inhibition with TU and CRM and minimal inhibition with HDM, while ELISA inhibition test using serum pool B showed significant inhibition with addition of TU and CRM and partial inhibition with HDM. Immunoblot analysis using individual sera showed six IgE binding components (75, 56, 41, 37, 28, 14 kDa) and three (75, 41, 14 kDa) were bound to IgE in more than 50% of sera tested. Conclusions : Six IgE binding components were identified within TU and three (75, 41, 14 kDa) could be considered major allergens. Extensive cross-allergenicity was noted between TU and CRM TU-derived extracts contain TU-specific addition to common sharing allergens with HDM. Further investigations will be needed to identify species-specific, or common allergenic components within TU. (J Asthma Allergy Clin Immunol 20: 879-86, 2000)
