Background and Objectives : When p53 cancer suppressor gene, occurs gene deletion or point mutation, malignancy develops by loss of p53 function with abnormal p53 protein. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the causative agent of certain type of lymphoma and undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma. However, the role of EBV as a causative factor in other head &eck tumors is not fully elucidated except nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study, the author examined that p53 expression and detection rate of EBV correlate to development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) and play the possible role of prognostic indicators. Materials and Methods : Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimen from 32 cases of larynx and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas were studied by immunohistochemical staining for p53 and EBV. The results of analysis were compared with clinicopathological parameters. Results : p53 expression was 56.3% (18 cases) and the detection rate of EBV was 43.6% (14 cases) of 32 cases in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. p53 expression was correlate with histologic grade (p<05) only. Detection of EBV was not correlate with clinicopathological parmeters. Conclusion : These results suggest p53 expression and the detection of EBV may be related with development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. And, the expression of p53 protein can be used as a prognosticator in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma under certain limitation.

We have usually experienced bone conduction impairment in chronic otitis media, but it is unclear that raised bone conduction threshold is due to the reflection of cochlear dam- age and / or Carhart effect ( an artificial elevation of bone conduction threshold due to conductive defect ) or both. The purpose of this study is to verify the influence of the artificial elevation of the bone conduction threshold in chronic otitis media and to estimate Carhart effect. A total of 336 cases of tympanoplasty with unilateral chronic otitis media without any other causes of sensorineural hearing loss was studied. The average threshold levels of the bone conduction in diseased ears ranged from 18.5dB at 4kHz to 12.1dB at 250Hz The longer duration of the disease, the larger perforation size, the more severe damage of the middle ear structure and the presence of the cholesteatoma made bone conduction threshold increased. The postoperative thresholds of bone conduction were Improved in 36 cases (40.4%) of the 89 cases that underwent operation with type I tympanoplasty technique without electrie drilling. The degree of the maximal improvement was 14.3dB at 2000Hz and the minimum was 8.8dB at 250Hz. but these result did differ from a statistically significant degree. The result suggest that the bone conduction threshold in chronic otitis media is elevated artificially by conductive defect and improved by successful reconstructive surgery.

At Japanese apricot wine manufacture, we examined the Sensually evalution of its. Here, we would calculate for deposition condition and storage periods, it was operated, the storage period is different, in alcohol concentration variety(20%, 30%, 40% and 50%) which was added 20% sugar or not. 1. it was seemed that addedsugar condition was better than that of not. 2. As being nonsugar, it was good about 180 days for storage. 3. As being addedsugar, it was better 90 days or 180 days for storage than anytime. 4. A case of storage for 360 days, 30% alcohol and 20% sugar is better than nonsugar, and 30% alcohol is the highest tastes.

In order to examine the effect of storage conditions on the general components and the fatty acid compositions of sesame seeds. The general components and the fatty acid compositions were analyzed during the storage of sesame seed for 4, 9, and 15 months at the four different storage conditions, that is, storage under light in linen pouch(LA), storage in dark in linen pouch(DA), storage under light in vinyl pouch(LS), and storage in dark in vinyl pouch(DS). The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The amounts of crude oil was decreased during the storage in all the storage conditions, but another general components were not shown a regular tendency. 2. The content of palmitic acid and stearic acid in total lipid were decreased during the storage with prolonged time of shortage, but linoleic acid content was increased during the storage, between 4 to 9 months, then the content was continued with the same value until 15 months of the storage. 3. Juged from above results in terms of nutritional value of unsaturated fatty acid, it is recommendable to extract oil from sesame seed stored for more than 9 months after harvesting.

The enrichment triad model(Renzulli, 1977) which was originally developed for teaching and learning of gifted and talented children consists of three types of enrichment activities. Type Ⅰ enrichment activities build knowledge for later use in 'gifted behaviors', and type Ⅱ enrichment activities focus on the 'how-to skills,' attitudes and values the student must develop to become and effective investigator, problem solver and producer. Type Ⅲ enrichment activities, the pursuit of real problems and realization of gifted behavior, are the fundamental goal for this model. In this study we developed enrichment activities for high school earth science class. We could summarize enrichment activities as follows: In studying the fossil section, after reporting their research activities on fossil data, students can understand the fossil theory through questioning and answering their homeworks. They can enhance their interest and curiosity by watching the movie 'Jurassic Part'(type Ⅰ enrichment activities). After making replica of fossil samples(type Ⅱ), they can write their research reports or articles concerning fossils(type Ⅲ). Students can extend their knowledge about fossils through these types of enrichment activities. In studying weather map section, after collecting newspaper clippings or searching internet, students present their knowledge about weather and weather maps(type Ⅰ enrichment activities). Learning how to make weather maps and investigating how to analyze them, student can extend their knowledge(type Ⅱ). Through these activities, students can apply their knowledge to everyday life experience(type Ⅲ). The third program is 'igneous rock' section. Students investigate the fossil formation in Korea(type Ⅰ enrichment activities). They can understand the principle of volcanic activities through experiment of volcano eruption model type Ⅱ. Through drawing pictures, writing assignment of experiment activities and playing the role play of igneous rocks, teachers can help students to acquire cause or interest to study the igneous rocks(type Ⅲ). In conclusion, within a classroom instruction teachers would be utilizing all three types of activities, moving from one to the other as class, and individual needs, demand. By selecting what students want to do and making them to produce results of their activities, we are expecting that teachers can cultivate creative thinking and enhance problem solving ability of students.
