        1, 1-Dichloro-2, 3, 4, 5-tetraphenyl-l-silacyclopentadiene is synthesized from the reaction of diphenylacetylene with metal and tetrachlorosilane, where the optimal reaction conditions are also studied. From-the mass spectroscopic study of this 1,1-dichloro-2, 3, 4, 5-tetraphenyl-l-silacyclopentadiene the elimination of meta-stable dichlorosilylene species is confirmed.

      • 유효미생물에 의한 하수슬러지의 효율적 처리

        This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of microbial inoculation on sewage sludge composting. The number and species of microorganisms in sewage sludge sampled on February were higher than those sampled on August. The composting of sewage sludge is inhibited by the polyacrylamide cation, which was used as a coagulant and known to repress the growth of microorganisms. The growth of all microorganisms was inhibited by the addition of the polyacrylamide cation at a concentration of more than 0.8%. The species and viable counts of microorganisms were observed to increase during composting sewage sludge by inoculation of the effective microorganisms and addition of the pine tree sawdust as a bulking agent, compared with those without inoculation. A variety of organisms in compost(sewage sludge plus sawdust) were observed after composting for 30 days, such as Fragilaria sp., Proales sp., Vorticella sp., Schizothrix sp., Anabaena sp., Zoothaminium sp., Epstylis sp., Arcella sp., Balantidium sp., Actinophrys sp., Synedra sp., Euglypha sp., Ulothrix sp., Anacystis sp., and Clostium sp.

        The dyeing sludge is the major waste generated in Banwol & Sihwa Industrial Complex. The Purpose of this study is to develop BAT (Best available technique) for the treatment and recycling of dyeing sludge. The dyeing sludge was carbonized and the product was tested physical properties and chemical chracterizations and also analyzed chemical compositions. From the test results we expect that the products can be used as adsorbent for the removal of order in the poultry farm and cattle shed. The feasibility of other methods such as manufature of RDF and cement etc. were also studied.

        한국인 직무 스트레스 측정도구의 개발 및 표준화

        Background and Purposes: Over the past three decades, numerous studies performed in Korea have reported that job stress is a determinant risk factor for chronic diseases and work disability. Every society has its own culture and occupational climate particular to their organizations, and hence experiences different occupational stress. An occupational stress measurement tool therefore needs to be developed to estimate it objectively. The purpose of this study is to develop and standardize the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS) which is considered to be unique and specific occupational stressors in Korean employees. Subjects and Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002-2004). A total of 12,631 employees from a nationwide sample proportional to the Korean Standard Industrial Classification and the Korean Standard Occupational Classification were administered. The KOSS was developed for 2 years (2002-2004). In the first year, we collected 255 items from the most popular job stress measurement tools such as JCQ, ERI, NIOSH and OSI, and 44 items derived from the a qualitative study (depth interview). Forty-three items of KOSS, in the second year, were retained for use in the final version of the KOSS by using Delphi and factor analysis. Items were scored using conventional 1-2-3-4 Likert scores for the response categories. Results: We developed eight subscales by using factor analysis and validation process: physical environment (3 items), job demand (8 items), insufficient job control (5 items), interpersonal conflict (4 items), job insecurity (6 items), organizational system (7 items), lack of reward (6 items), and occupational climate (4 items). Together they explained 50.0% of total variance. Internal consistency alpha scores were ranged from 0.51 to 0.82. Twenty-four items of the short form of the KOSS (KOSS-SF) were also developed to estimate job stress in the work setting. Because the levels of the subscales of occupational stress were gender dependent, gender-specific standard norms for both the 43-item full version and the 24-item short form using a quartile for the subscales of KOSS were presented. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that KOSS might be an appropriate measurement scale to estimate occupational stress of Korean employees. Further and more detailed study needs to be conducted to improve the validity of this scale.

      • 맥반석의 용출시험 및 중금속 흡착특성

        This experiment was done to investigate the leaching and adsorption properties of heavy metals on porphyry. The comparison with respect to the leachability of heavy metals from porphyry between the Korea Standard Leaching Test (KSLT) and the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) was carried out. The fractional composition of leachate and the total concentration of heavy metal of porphyry were studied through Sequential Extraction Procedure (SEP) and EPA Method 3050. Adsorption experiment of porphyry has pointed out that the optimum dosage of porphyry for 50ppm Pb was over 10g/L, the effective particle size for absorption was below 200 mesh and the optimum pH was about 7. From the Freundlich' adsorption equation, l/n was 1.0722, and k was 0.0041. After adsorption, the fractional composition of Pb was changed. The exchangeable, carbonate, reducible fractions were increased, and the organic fraction was not changed, and the residual fraction was decreased.

        Effects of the Difference in Tube Voltage of the CT Scanner on Dose Calculation

        Computed tomography (CT) measures the attenuation coefficient of an object and converts the value assigned to each voxel into a CT number. In radiation therapy, the CT number, which is directly proportional to the linear attenuation coefficient, must be converted to an electron density for radiation dose calculations for cancer treatment. However, if various tube voltages are applied to take the patient’s CT image without applying the specific CT number to the electron density conversion curve, the accuracy of the dose calculation is not assured. In this study, changes in CT numbers for different materials due to changes in the tube voltage were demonstrated, and the dose calculation errors in the percentage depth dose (PDD), along with a clinical case were analyzed. The maximum dose difference in the PDD from the treatment planning system (TPS) dose calculation and from the Monte Carlo simulation were 1.3% and 1.1%, respectively, when applying the same CT number to the electron density conversion curve for the 80-kVp and 140-kVp images. In the clinical case, different CT number to electron density conversion curves at tube voltage of 80 kVp and 140 kVp were applied to the same image and the maximum differences in the mean, maximum, and minimum doses were 1.1%, 1.2%, and 1.0%, respectively, at the central region of the phantom and 0.6%, 0.9%, and 0.8%, respectively, at the peripheral region of the phantom.

        유도당뇨백서에 매식된 수산화인회석의 조직반응

        The purpse of this study was to evaluate the tissue reaction to hydroxyapatite(HA) in rats given streptozotocin(50mg/kg) to incuce diabetics. A pocket was created on the parietal bone of cranium. 40 rats were divided: 20 induced diabetics (ID) with HA, 20 non-induced diabetics with HA used as control group. Rats from each group were sacrificed at 1, 2, 4, 8, 24 weeks post-implantation. The results of this study were a follows: 1. Inflammatory reaction of ID was more intense than ND at 1 and 2 weeks. 2. Fibrosis in control group was greater than ID, but no significant difference between 2 and 4 weeks after implantation. 3. Dystrophic calcification was no significant difference between ID and control group. 4. No osteogenesis was obseved in both groups. In conclusion, it is important to control the infection at 1 to 2 weeks after the HA implantation and if the infection is controlled, HA in our study was acceptable in both ID rats and ND controls, as inert material, because no osteogenesis was observed in any specimen.

      • Endoscopy-Based Decision Is Sufficient for Predicting Completeness in Lateral Resection Margin in Colon Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

        <P>Abstract</P><P><I>Background and Aims:</I> Our aim was to investigate the incidence of tumor recurrence in cases in which there was a discrepancy in the diagnosis of complete resection by pathologists and colonoscopists, especially in the lateral resection margin. <I>Methods:</I> We reviewed 245 patients with colorectal tumors that were treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) between March 2006 and June 2011. We evaluated the recurrence rate in cases judged as pathologically incomplete resection despite endoscopically complete resection. <I>Results:</I> Of the 24 cases with tumor cells on the lateral resection margin, the histologies of the colorectal tumors were found to be tubular adenoma (TA) with low-grade dysplasia (n = 19), TA with high-grade dysplasia (n = 3) and differentiated adenocarcinoma (n = 2). No tumor recurrence was observed in 22 patients after ESD. Four patients did not receive surveillance colonoscopy. The median tumor size was 28 mm (12–35) and the median follow-up period was 19 months (5–42). <I>Conclusions:</I> This retrospective analysis was limited by a short follow-up period. However, surveillance colonoscopy could be attempted without additional ESD in those cases in which incomplete resection on the lateral margin was judged pathologically, if endoscopic complete resection was grossly achieved.</P><P>Copyright © 2011 S.
