The purpose of this study is to analyse the structure and Strength of North Korean Military forces and through which provide a theoretical basis for the improvement of relationship between South and North Korea. The study shows the following findings. (1) The North Korean military forces can be defined in various terms as Kim il-sung's forces, forces of the Labor Party, revolutionary forces, and the forces for economic development. However, the most significant feature of the North Korean military forces is that it is central to Kin Il-Sung's political and legal power. (2) The ultimate goal of the North Koran military forces lies in the communization of the whole Korean peninsula. (3) As manifested in the decree of the Labor Party, military forces are "armed forces of the Party", thus the Party exercises full control over the military forces. (4) Till the present time organization of the North Korean military forces are based on the conventional weapons system. The study concludes that the North Korean military forces are under the full control of Kim Il-Sung and its strength is on the increase.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.

In this study, methotrexate (MTX)-encapsulated polymeric micelles using methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG)-grafted chitosan (ChitoPEG) copolymer were prepared. The MIX-incorporated polymeric micelles of ChitoPEG copolymer has a particle size of around 50-100 nm. In 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study, the specific peaks of MTX disappeared in heavy water ($D_2O$) and only the specific peak of MPEG was observed, while all of the peaks were confirmed in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). These results indicated that MTX was complexed with chitosan and then formed an ion complex inner-core of the polymeric micelle in an aqueous environment. The drug contents of the polymeric micelle were around $4{\sim}12%$ and the loading efficiency of MTX in the polymeric micelles was higher than 60% (w/w) for all of the formulations. The cytotoxicity of MIX and MTX-incorporated polymeric micelle against CT26 tumor cells was not significantly changed.

<P>Solid-state alkaline electrolytes were prepared from chloromethylated polysuflone (CMPSf) and a number of mono- and diamine compounds for solid alkaline fuel cell (SAFC) applications. Chloromethyl-groups as substituents for aromatic nuclei were introduced to an aromatic polymer in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst and then the basic groups into polymer by amination using N-trimethylamine (TMA) and N,N,N′,N′-tetraemethylhexanediamine (TMHDA). The properties of the solid-state alkaline electrolytes were invetigated in terms of OH– conductivity, water content and thermal stability.</P>

A new characterization method using a porous plug model was proposed to determine the degree of sulfonation (DS) of ionomer binder with respect to the membrane used in membrane-electrode assemblies (MEAs) and to analyze the fraction of proton pathways through ionomer-catalyst combined electrodes in MEAs for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) was prepared to use a polymeric electrolyte and laboratory-made SPEEK solution (5wt.%, DMAc based) was added to catalyst slurry to form catalyst layers. In case of the SPEEK-based MEAs in this study, DS of ionomer binder for catalyst layers should be the same or higher than that of the SPEEK membrane used in the MEAs. The porous plug model suggested that most of protons were via the ionomer binder (${\sim}92.5%$) bridging the catalyst surface to the polymeric electrolyte, compared with the pathways through the alternative between the interstitial water on the surface of ionomer binder or catalyst and the ionomer binder (${\sim}7.3%$) and through only the interstitial water on the surface of ionomer or catalyst (${\sim}0.2%$) in the electrode of the MEA comprising of the sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) membrane and the 5wt.% SPEEK ionomer binder. As a result, it was believed that the majority of proton at both electrodeds moves through ionomer binder until reaching to electrolyte membrane. The porous plug model of the electrodes of MEAs reemphasized the importance of well-optimized structure of ionomer binder and catalyst for fuel cells.

Objective : Although iliac crest autograft is the gold standard for lumbar fusion, the morbidity of donor site leads us to find an alternatives to replace autologous bone graft. Ceramic-based synthetic bone grafts such as hydroxyapatite (HA) and b-tricalcium phosphate (b-TCP) provide scaffolds similar to those of autologous bone, are plentiful and inexpensive, and are not associated with donor morbidity. The present report describes the use of Polybone$^{(R)}$ (Kyungwon Medical, Korea), a beta-tricalcium phosphate, for lumbar posterolateral fusion and assesses clinical and radiological efficacy as a graft material. Methods : This study retrospectively analyzed data from 32 patients (11 men, 21 women) who underwent posterolateral fusion (PLF) using PolyBone$^{(R)}$ from January to August, 2008. Back and leg pain were assessed using a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and clinical outcome was assessed using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Serial radiological X-ray follow up were done at 1, 3, 6 12 month. A computed tomography (CT) scan was done in 12 month. Radiological fusion was assessed using simple anterior-posterior (AP) X-rays and computed tomography (CT). The changes of radiodensity of fusion mass showed on the X-ray image were analyzed into 4 stages to assess PLF status. Results : The mean NRS scores for leg pain and back pain decreased over 12 months postoperatively, from 8.0 to 1.0 and from 6.7 to 1.7, respectively. The mean ODI score also decreased from 60.5 to 17.7. X-rays and CT showed that 25 cases had stage IV fusion bridges at 12 months postoperatively (83.3% success). The radiodensity of fusion mass on X-ray AP image significantly changed at 1 and 6 months. Conclusion: The present results indicate that the use of a mixture of local autologous bone and PolyBone$^{(R)}$ results in fusion rates comparable to those using autologous bone and has the advantage of reduced morbidity. In addition, the graft radiodensity ratio significantly changed at postoperative 1 and 6 months, possibly reflecting the inflammatory response and stabilization.
