All-carbon-based cathode for a true high-energy-density Li-O<sub>2</sub> battery

<P>Li-O-2 batteries have a high theoretical energy density; however, their current cathode system based on a heavy metal framework strikingly diminishes their real energy density. Herein, we report the fabrication of all-carbon-based cathodes composed of conventional active carbon and a carbon mesh (CM) framework produced from waste silk fabric by simple pyrolysis. CM frameworks show a high electrical conductivity of similar to 150 S cm(-1), good tensile strength of 34.1 +/- 5.2 MPa, and a Young's modulus of 4.03 +/- 0.7 GPa, as well as a well-ventilated ordered macroporous structure. These all-carbon-based cathodes exhibit stable cycling and high energy densities of similar to 2600 Wh kg(-1) based on total electrode weight, which are 4-15 times higher than those of conventional air cathodes. 각종 질소·인 제거공정에서 도출된 미생물 성장 동역학 계수 비교 분석

In this study, some of bacterial growth kinetic parameters were delineated and evaluated for the biological nutrient removal processes such as the A²/O, 4stage-BNR, Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration System(ICEAS) and Intermittently Aerated Cylindrical Oxidation Ditch(IACOD) processes. Y_H values for the ICEAS process ranged from 0.71 to 0.74, and were higher than those for the other processes. It seems to indicated that organic carbons uptaked by microorganism were more used up for cell synthesis rather than for energy components in the ICEAS process. b_H for the ICEAS and IACOD processes were lower than those for A²/O and 4stage-BNR processes. The μ_(max·A) for the ICEAS was higher than those for the other processes, which indicated that desirable operating conditions for nitrifying bacteria's growth were established.

We reviewed retrospectively 230 patients who came to emergency room of Kang Nam St. Mary's Hospital and Uijongbu St. Mary's Hospital between 1. January and 31. December 1994. We classified them according to their age, sex, a sort of drug, the cause of poisoning, prehospital care, time-lapse to arrive at hospital after poisoning, psychiatric problem the status of patients. *We conclude as follows; 1. The male to female ratio was totally 1 : 1.98, 1 : 1.24 in a urban area, 1 : 2.43 in a rural area. 2. On age of the patients in this study, the peake incidence was between 20 and 39(55.2%). 3. On seasonal prevalence, the poisoning was most common in summer and spring, in urban area(35.7%) and rural area(37.0%) respectively. 4. The common drug were as follow; Doxylamine, Organophosphate, Acetaminophen in urban area, Paraquat, Organophospate, Doxylamine in rural area 5. The percentage of suicidal attempt were 81.8% and 87.7% in urban area and rural area respectively. 6. The poisoning patients had psychatric problem in 19.4% and 24.6%, in urban area and rural area respectively. 7. Before arrival to emergency room, 27.7% of patient was done prehospital care in rural area. 8. On arrival to emergency room, 95.1% and 73.8% of patients show stable vital sign in urban area and rural area respectively.

We have investigated Pt and RuO₂as a bottom electrode for a device application of PZT thin film. The bottom electrodes were prepared by using an RF magnetron sputtering method. We studied some of the property influencing factors such as substrate temperature, gas flow ratem and RF power. An oxygen partial pressure from 0 to 50% was investigated. The results show that only Ru metal was grown without supplying any O₂gas. Both Ru and RuO₂phases were formed for O₂partial pressure between 10-40%. A pure RuO₂phasewas obtained with O₂partial pressure of 50%. A substrate temperature from room temperature to 400°C was investigated with XRD for the film crystallinity examination. The substrate temperature influenced the surface morphology and the resistivity of Pt and RuO₂ as well as the film crystal structure. From the various considerations, we recommend the substrate temperature of 300°C for the bottom electrode growth. Because PZT film growth on top of bottom electrode requires a temperature process higher than 500°C, bottom electrode properties were investigated as a functiona of post anneal temperature. As post anneal temperature was increasedm the resistibity of Pt and RuO₂was decreased. However, almost no change was observed in resistibity for an anneal temperature higher than 700°C . From the studies on resistivity and surface morphology, we recommend a post anneal temperature less than 600°C.

Running title: Cases of anesthesia for extremely low birth weight infant. Extremely low birth weight infants (birth weight < 1000 g) are prone to various morbidities such as respiratory distress syndrome, intraventricular hemorrhage, periventricular leukomalacia, patent ductus arteriosus, necrotizing enterocolitis and retinopathy. To accomplish successful anesthetic management, many precautions must be continuously taken during the operation. First, inspired oxygen concentration should be adjusted to avoid oxygen toxicity. Second, body temperature must be maintained adequately. Third, hemodynamic parameters should be kept stable. We report 2 cases of successful anesthetic management for extremely low birth weight infant who underwent ligation of patent ductus arteriosus at the neonatal intensive care unit.

A primary central nervous system lymphoma(PCNSL) is defined as a lymphoma limited to the cranial-spinal axis without systemic involvement. PCNSLs were formerly very rare, only 0.5∼ 1.2% of all intracranial neoplasms, and were usually associated with acquired immuno-deficiency syndrome(AIDS) and other immune-compromised states. Recently, there has been a clear rise in the incidence of this disease among normal individuals. We describe a 77-year-old female with hyponatremia who presented with a confused mental state. Computed tomography(CT) of the brain demonstrated a suprasellar mass with enhancement. We evaluated the basic hormonal studies and the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). A ventricular biopsy was done, and the result was a diffuse, large, B-cell-type malignant lymphoma. She presented panhypopituitarism and partial central diabetes insipidus. She received chemotheraphy and was discharged in an improved condition. We report a case of panhypopituitarism due to PCNSL and give a review of the literature.

Chitosan is the deacetylated product of chitin. Chitosan and its derivatives have many properties that make them attractive for a wide variety of health applications. We reported recently that water soluble chitooligosaccharides have hepatoprotective effect on ethanol induced liver injury in the mouse. The current study examined the effect of water soluble chitooligosaccharides on CC1₄-induced liver injury in rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were orally treated with CC1₄without or with administration of 5% chitooligosaccharides. After 5 weeks after CC1₄treatment, the histological sections and the expression of mRNA of interleukin-12(IL-12), hepatocyte growth factor(HGF), and tumor necrosis factor(TNF- ) were examined. The liver section of rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides showed attenuated effects of the necrosis, steatosis, cirrhosis compared with those of non-supplemented rats. The level of TNF- mRNA in CC1₄-treated rats were higher than those in the rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides, while the levels of IL-12 and HGF mRNA were higher in the rats supplemented with chitooligosaccharides than those of in CC1₄-treated rats. These findings suggested that water soluble chitooligosaccharides may have a hepatoprotective activity against CCl₄-induced liver injury in rats.

We introduce the notion of an enveloped subgroup of T. We find some characterization of the enveloped subgroup of T and the relation with the kernel of the character. 본 논문은 T의 포락된 부분군의 개념을 소개하였고, T의 포락된 부분군의 몇 가지 특성화와 지표(character)의 핵(kernel)과의 관계를 연구하였다.
