Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate whether fertilization could induce the resumption of meiosis in mouse oocytes arrested at metaphase I (MI) after in vitro maturation (IVM), and to investigate the effect of $Ca^{2+}$ chelator treatment at the time of fertilization on the transition from MI to metaphase II (MII). Methods: MII-stage and arrested MI-stage mouse oocytes after IVM were fertilized, and then embryonic development was monitored. Blastocysts from each group were transferred into 2.5 days post-coitum pseudo-pregnant ICR mice. MI oocytes after IVM were treated with a $Ca^{2+}$ chelator to investigate the effect of $Ca^{2+}$ oscillations on their maturation. Results: As insemination time increased, the number of oocytes in the MI group that reached the MII stage also increased. The blastocyst rates and total cell numbers in the MII group were significantly higher than in the MI group. No pregnancy occurred in the MI group, but 10 pregnancies were achieved (10 of 12) in the MII group. The proportion of MI oocytes that matured to MII oocytes after fertilization was significantly higher in the non-treated group than in the $Ca^{2+}$ chelator-treated group. Conclusion: The findings that a higher proportion of MI-arrested oocytes progressed to MII after fertilization and that the MI-to-MII transition was blocked by $Ca^{2+}$ chelator treatments before fertilization indicate that the maturation of MI oocytes to MII oocytes is associated with intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ oscillations driven by fertilization.
Histone deacetylase 3 is selectively involved in L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This is the first report that L(3)mbt-like 2 (L3MBTL2) specifically interacts with the histone deacetylase domain of histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) via its MBT domain. Here, we show that L3MBTL2 selectively interacts with HDAC3, but not other class I HDACs. An in vitro peptide-binding assay demonstrated the specific association of HDAC3 with methylated histone-K20 tail and L3MBTL2. Furthermore, depletion of HDAC3 resulted in a decrease of methylated K20-H4, as well as an increase in acetylated histone H3. Consequently, HDAC3 knock-down selectively suppressed L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression. This document explored the neural mechanisms underpinning motor execution (ME) and motor imagery (MI), focusing on the motor cortex’s critical regions, C3 and C4. These areas are instrumental in coordinating movements, adhering to a contralateral organization. To investigate these processes, we employed functional nearinfrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) during ME and MI. Our experimental results obtained through fNIRS revealed contralateral patterns of brain activation, illustrating contralateral activation in the absence of actual movement.

Acinetobacter species is a non-fermentative aerobic gram-negative coccobacillus that is an important pathogen found in nosocomial infections. Recently, multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB) infections have been increasing and pose a serious problem. Most such infections present as bacteremia, pneumonia, or a wound infection; however, CNS infections are very rare. We herein present a case of ventriculitis caused by MDR-AB in a 37-year old man after a neurosurgical intervention. The patient was successfully treated with intrathecal colistimethate.

Sports technology encompasses a wide range of disciplines from biomechanics to engineering. As a consequence, researchers working in sports technology find that their work falls neither in the field of traditional sports nor in mainstram engineering. Also Sports Engineering is an international journal publishing original papers on the application of engineering and science to sport. The journal intends to fill the niche area which lies between classical engineering and sports science and aims to bride the gap between the analysis of the equipment and of the athlete. Area of interest include the mechanics and dynamics of sport, the analysis of movement, instrument equipment design, surface interaction, materials and modeling. These topics may be applied to technology in almost any sports. The Sports Engineering will be of particular interest to Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Sports Science Departments and The International Sport Engineering Association(ISEA) will act forum where research, industry and the sports sector can exchange knowledge and innovative ideas.
남중 육상경기 선수의 Foot Ratio와 체력과의 상관

Foot ratio and physical fitness were measured and multiple-compared in the level of P<.05 on the subject of 28 prize winners from Men's part of middle school in the field and track events of the "P" youth athletic tournament in 1998 and 7 general students adopted by random sampling. These are conclusions from the result of relative analysis of foot length measured by X-ray, Medial longitudinal arch's height, foot ratio and physical fitness in the level of P<.05. 1. No significance was discovered in FR but throwing group is better than medium and long distance group. 2. Flexibility and endurance have meaning in physical fitness. The short distance group has better flexibility than the medium and long, throwing and general one. And medium and long distance/ throwing group have better endurance than general one. 3. FR and physical fitness show a negative correlation in the muscular strength of throwing group.

The purpose of this study was to examine physiological changes of the body according to various weight loads and the holding during carrying object. The experiments were conducted with utilizing physiological analyses for five male and five female adults as subjects. The results were as followed. 1. Any significant difference was not shown in heart rate, ventilation and amount of oxygen uptake of male subjects in the case of no load and 5kg. And also no significant difference was shown in expiratory exchange ratio of male subjects of no load, 5kg and 10kg, but in other measure items and other stages of weight was shown. 2. Significant differences were shown in heart rate, ventilation, defluxion of carbon dioxide, oxygen uptake per body weights, respiratory exchange rate, respiration rate and all other measure items of female subjects in all stages of load. 3. In the MMH job, there was no influence on male subjects up to 5kg loads, but there was an significant difference in male subjects in load walking from 5kg. It shows that even in 5kg weight MMH work, female subject's expiratory function was influenced. 4. 10kg load was the limit weight of female subjects and 15kg was of male subjects when they walked on treadmills with 4km/h velocity for 3 minutes, holding loads in the right and vertical types.
문자 단위 매칭과 유닛 단위 매칭을 이용한 온라인 필기 한자 인식

This paper presents on-line Chinese character recognition methods based on DP-Matching. The recognition system consists of character matching and unit matching methods. The character matching method adopts DP-matching between the input data and models as a major matching method, while unit matching method uses relation matching between consecutive units (part of character) in addition to DP-matching between units. A couple of methods combining character matching and unit matching methods were examined also. We found that we got best recognition result applying unit matching methods to the recognition candidates from character matching method.

The purpose of this paper is to select 7 male athletes and female athletes of high school, and to compare their active potential differences of upper arm muscles according to characteristic of a racket. the results obtained are as follows: 1. According to the accumulative distribution rate of racket material, graphite and wood material show better efficiency in case of brachio radialis muscle of male athletes, but the racket material shows no constant efficiency in brachii radialis muscle of female athletes. In case of flexor carpi radialis muscle, wood material provides better efficiency only for male athletes. In case of triceps brachii muscle, wood material gives better efficiency to males athletes and steel material gives better efficiency to females athletes. Especially in case of biceps brachii muscle, neither male nor female athletes are influenced by racket materials at impact. 2. In the muscle load rate according to racket material, wood has the highest muscle active potential and graphite has the lowest active potential. Therefore, graphite is thoght to be better in the efficiency of muscle load rate.
