Much of domestic city is served by combined sewer system rather than separate sanitary or storm sewers. During wet weather, when the volume of sanitary sewage and storm water entering the combined sewers exceeds the system capacity, the system is designed to overflow at several designated CSOs. The objective of this research is to have grasp of characteristics of combined sewer runoff and to evaluate efficiently the intercepted volume of CSOs. During the wet weather in first rainfall, SS load at each site H-1, H-2, and H-3 were 600kg/event, 370kg/event, and 289kg/event, SS load at each site in second rainfall were 216kg/event, 113kg/event, and 37.2kg/event. EMCs at each site were 702mg/L, 816mg/L, 861mg/L in first rainfall and 99.9mg/L, 161.9mg/L, 103.6mg/L in second rainfall, respectively. First flush coefficients b at each site were 0.237, 0.166, and 0.151.

연구배경: 최근에 지혈응고 및 섬유소 용해기능의 손상이 허혈성 심질환의 병인론에 중요한 역할을 한다고 알려져 왔다. 이에 저자들은 허혈성심질환군과 정상대조군에서 PT, aPTT, 섬유소원, α2-antiplasimin, tPA, PAI-I, AT Ⅲ, protein C, XL-FDP를 측정하여, 이들이 허혈성심질환의 발병에 미치는 영향 및 중요성에 연구하고, 혈전용해제 투여전과 투여후의 결과를 비교 분석하여 이들의 검사지표로서의 임상적인 유용성에 관하여 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 39예의 정상대조군과 급성 심근경색 및 협심증으로 진단된 40예의 환자군에서 platelet-poor-plasma를 얻어 PT, aPTT, 섬유소원은 ELECTRA 1000C(Medical laboratory automation, Inc., USA)를 이용하여 측정하였고, α2-antiplasmin는 색소법으로 SPECT-ROLYSER α2-antiplasmin(Biopool AB, Canada)kit를, tPA와 PAI-1은 면역효소법으로, Protein C는 응고법으로 Bioclot?? Protein C(Biopool AB, Canada) kit를 사용하여 측정하였다. XL-FDP는 라텍스응집법으로 DIMERTESTR Ⅱ Latex Kit(AGEN Biomedical Limited, Australia)를 이용하여 측정하였다. 결과: 환자군과 정상대조군의 비교에서 에서 PT, aPTT, 섬유소원, PAI-1 및 ATⅢ는 두 군간에 통계학적으로 유의한 차의를 나타내었고 환자군에서는 62.5%에 해당하는 25예에서 증가된 소견을 보여 주었다. 환자군에서 혈전용해제 투여전과 투여후의 결과비교에서 PT와 섬유소원에서 유의한 차이가 있었으며, α2-antiplasmin, PAI-1 및 protein C는 유의하지는 않았지만 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 혈전용해제 투여후 1 시간결과를 대조군과 비교해 볼 때 PT와 tPA는 유의하게 증가하였고 섬유소원과 ATⅢ는 의의있게 감소하였다. 7일째 결과는 모든 지수에서 정상대조군과 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결론: PT, 섬유소원의 검사가 허혈성 심질환의 진단과 경과관찰에 도움을 줄 수 있으며, tPA, PAI-1, ATⅢ등과 같이 관찰함으로서 진단뿐만 아니라 예후와 재발위험성에 대한 예측 등 임상적으로 중요한 검사지표로서의 가능성을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. Background: Many studies have shown that thrombus formation has important role in the pathogenesis of ischemic heart disease(IHD) and impaired fibrinolysis is associated with an increased risk of myocardial infacrtion. Forty patients with IHD and 39 normal controls were studied about blood coagulation, fibrinolytic, inhibitory proteins to evaluate their usefulness in diagnosing, predicting prognosis and monitoring after thrombolytic therapy in IHD. Method: Platelet-poor-plasma were obtained from the 3.8% trisodium citrate treated blood and prothrombin time(PT), activated partial thromboplastin time(aPTT), firbrinogen, α2-antiplasmin, tPA,PAI-1, antithrombin Ⅲ(ATⅢ), protein C. crosslinked fibrin degradation products(XL-FDP) were measured by appropriate functional or immunological assays. Results: The IHD group showed significant increases in PT,aPTT, fibrinogen, PAI-I and XL-FDP and significant reduction in AT Ⅲ concentration. No significant changes were observed between myocardial infarction and angina pectoris subgroups in the IHD. After thrombolytic therapy, PT and fibrinogen showed significant changes. In comparsion with normal controls, post 1 hour results showed significant changes in PT, fibrinogen, tPA, ATⅢ but no significant changes in post 7 days results. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that measurements of PT and fibrinogen are helpful for diagnosis in patients with IHD. And combined with tPA, PAI-1 and AT Ⅲ, they may be useful test for monitoring after thrombolytic therapy, predicting prognosis and risk of recurrence in IHD patients.

<P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>This study sought to determine the 1-year clinical effectiveness and safety of a biodegradable, polymer-containing Biolimus A9™-eluting stent (BES) in Korean patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>A total of 1000 ACS patients with 1251 lesions who underwent implantation of BESs at 22 centers in Korea were enrolled between May 2011 and July 2013. We assessed major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as the composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and clinical-driven target vessel revascularization at 12 months.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Patient mean age was 62.6±11.4 years. 72.8% of the patients were male, 28.5% had diabetes, 32.8% had multi-vessel disease (MVD), and 47.9% presented with acute MI (AMI). The mean global registry of acute coronary events risk score of all patients was 103.0±27.6. The number of stents per patient was 1.3±0.6. The incidences of MACE and definite stent thrombosis at 12 months were 3.9% and 0.2%, respectively. On multivariate Cox-regression analysis, age ≥65 years was identified as an independent predictors of 1-year MACE (hazard ratio=2.474; 95% confidence interval=1.202−5.091). Subgroup analyses revealed no significant differences in the incidence of MACE between patients with and without diabetes (4.3% vs. 3.7%, <I>p</I>=0.667), between those who presented with and without AMI (4.4% vs. 3.4%, <I>p</I>=0.403), and between those with and without MVD (4.6% vs. 3.5%, <I>p</I>=0.387).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Our study demonstrated excellent 1-year clinical outcomes of BES implantation in patients at low-risk for ACS.</P>

An experiment was carried out to assess the effect of feed selenium-lysine (Se-Lys) supplementation on milk compositions and serum biochemical indices in Saanen dairy goats in Korea. A total of twelve 36 months old Saanen lactating dairy goats (47±6.21 kg) fed the similar dry matter intake twice a day at 2% of BW (DMI) (10.9% moisture of concentrate and 19% moisture of roughage), milk yield (2.5 kg/d) and parity (2) were randomly selected and subjected for the present study, divided into two groups with six goats in each group. The goats in the control group received rice hulls (10 g/ day) only, and did not receive Se-Lys; goats in the treatment group were fed 0.06 g of Se-Lys with 10 g of rice hulls every day before feeding roughage for six weeks. The milk sample was collected every week, and its compositions were analyzed. The results of the present study showed that there is no significantly increased milk production in Se-Lys treated group goats when compared with control group goats. But, Se-Lys treatment significantly increased the milk protein content (3.98±0.16%), fat (3.72±0.27%), lactose (4.07±0.14%), total solids (12.51±0.28%) and urea (14.42±1.45 mg/dl) content as compared to the control group goats (p<0.05). The somatic cell counts (207,740±28.81 cells/ml) were significantly lower in the Se-Lys treated group than in the control group (p<0.05). Also, the results of the current study showed that supplementation of Se-Lys were significantly decreased the blood biochemical indices of IL-6 (34.34±6.04 pg/ml), TNT-α (0.56±0.22 ng/ml), MDA (5.07±1.03 ng/ml), GPx-1 (9.07±5.17 ng/ml), sCD4 (2.64±1.02 ng/ml) and sCD8 (5.08±2.08 ng/ml) level when compared with without addition of Se-Lys group dairy goats (p<0.05). On the other hand, the selenoprotein P (1,580.18±127.62 ng/ml) level was significantly higher in Se-Lys supplemented group than in the control group (p<0.05). Based on the study results, it was concluded that feed Se-Lys supplementation may improve milk yield with positively improved protein, fat, lactose, total solids, urea content, and biochemical indices without negative effects on milk production traits.

Background and Objectives: Diffuse long coronary artery disease (DLCAD) still has unfavorable clinical outcomes after successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Resolute™ zotarolimus-eluting stent (R-ZES; Resolute™ Integrity) for patients with DLCAD. Methods: From December 2011 to December 2014, 1,011 patients who underwent PCI using R-ZES for CAD with longer than 25 mm lesion were prospectively enrolled from 21 hospitals in Korea. We assessed the clinical outcome of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as the composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and clinically-driven target vessel revascularization at 12 months. Results: Mean age was 63.8±10.8 years, 701 (69.3%) patients were male, 572 (87.0%) patients had hypertension, 339 (33.8%) patients had diabetes, 549 (54.3%) patients diagnosed with acute MI and 545 (53.9%) patients had multi-vessel disease (MVD). A total of 1,697 stents were implanted into a total of 1,472 lesions. The mean diameter was 3.07±0.38 mm and the length was 28.27±6.97 mm. Multiple overlapping stents were performed in 205 (13.8%) lesions. A 12-month clinical follow-up was available in 1,004 patients (99.3%). The incidences of MACE and definite stent thrombosis at 12-month were 3.0% and 0.3% respectively. On multivariate Cox-regression analysis, multiple overlapping stents implantation, previous congestive heart failure, MVD, and age ≥75 years were independent predictors of one-year MACE. Conclusions: Our study shows that R-ZES has an excellent 1-year clinical outcome in Korean patients with DLCAD.
First Zoeal Stage of Camptandrium sexdentatum (Crustacea: Decapoda: Camptandriidae)

The first zoea of Camptandrium sexdentatum is described for the first time with a digital image of live zoeas. An ovigerous crab of C. sexdentatum was collected at the muddy sand flat in Namhaedo Island on 2 June 2012 and hatched in the laboratory on 6 June 2012. In Camptandriidae, the first zoea of C. sexdentatum is distinguished from the first zoeas of Cleistostoma dilatatum and Deiratonotus cristatum by having no dorsal and lateral carapace spines, an abdomen significantly broadened posteriorly, and a subovoid telson without forks. Especially, the finding of a subovoid telson without forks is the first report in brachyuran zoeas.
