Background: Type 2 diabetes is a heterogeneous disease. As to its complications, microangiopathy predominantly develop in some patients while macroangiopathy is more predominant in others. Therefore, this study was performed to identify the factors associated with such dissociation. Methods: Type 2 diabetic patients were classified into the macro and microangiopathy groups by carotid intima-medial thickness (IMT) and the presence of severe diabetic retinopathy. Patients with IMT ≤ 0.83 mm and severe NPDR or PDR were assigned to microangiopathy group; those with IMT 0.84 mm and no diabetic retinopathy were assigned to macroangiopathy group. Of 95 patients studied, 14 were classified as microangiopathy group and 20 as macroangiopathy group. Results: When the microangiopathy and macroangiopathy groups were compared, the microangiopathy group were significantly younger at the time of examination and at the onset of diabetes, and had longer duration of diabetes. Percentage of patients receiving insulin treatment was significantly higher and plasma C-peptide significantly lower in the microangiopathy group. However, HDL-cholesterol levels were significantly lower in the macroangiopathy group. Furthermore, the multiple logistic regression analyses revealed that younger onset of type 2 diabetes was an independent factor that was associated with the acceleration of microangiopathy. Conclusion: This study suggests that the age at onset of diabetes is an important independent risk factor that is associated with predominant development of microangiopathy in type 2 diabetic patients.
암-특이 항원인 alpha-Fetoprotein 에 대한 모노클론항체의 생산 및 분석

Monoclones secreting anti-human alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) were produced by hybridizing SP 2/0-Ag 14 mouse myeloma cells with spleen cells of Balb/c mice immunized with AFP. Two subclones (D-6 & E-6) were expanded as ascite tumors in syngenic mice, and immunoglobulins were purified from ascitic fluid. Each antibody was identified to be homogeneous monoclonal antibody (McAb) by several criteria, and the affinity constant of D-6 and E-6 McAb to AFP was calculated to be 4.2×10^(-8) and 6.4×10^(-8) M^(-1), respectively. With these McAbs sensitive and accurate enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method was established.

전력용 케이블은 전선로의 지중화 추세에 따라 사용이 증가하고 있다. 케이블 절연체의 경우 장기간의 전압인가에 의해 열화 및 절연파괴 된다. 전력용 케이블의 절연파괴시 발생하는 사회/경제적 문제는 매우 심각한 것으로 알려져 있다. 절연체의 열화에 영향을 주는 요인은 매우 복잡하지만 그중에서도 전기트리 열화에 의한 파괴는 비교적 두꺼운 고체 유전체인 경우에 절연파괴 사고의 주된 원인이 되고 있다. 전기트리의 개시나 진전시 부분방전이 발생하므로 부분방전의 검출에 의해 전기트리의 발생 및 진전 양상을 관측할 수 있고 부분방전의 해석에 의해 절연재료의 잔여 수명을 예측할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 고전압 전력용 케이블 절연재로써 광범위하게 사용되고 있는 저밀도 폴리에틸랜 시편에서의 전기트리 진전 양상을 비파괴 진단 기법에 의하여 검출하고자 내분 부분방전을 관측/해석하였다. The correlation between propagation of electrical tree and internal partial discharges is discussed. We use specimens with needle-plane electrode system made of LDPE(Low Density Polyethylene), observed inception and propagation of electrical tree by optical microscope and investigated the characteristics of the partial discharge (PD) pulses accompanying with propagation of electrical tree. In the specimens with needle-shaped void, the tree propagates branch type. The length of the tree has good linear relation with average discharge power of PD pulses. In the specimens without needle-shaped void, the tree grows bush type tree. The correlation between the area of the tree and the average discharge power of PD pulses has linear relation.

The study was investigated on the effect of austenitiaing and austempering conditions on retained austenite amount and carbon contents in retained austenite and simultaneously the effect of these variation on hardness, tensile and impact properties. A material of as-cast condition is composed of bull's eye structure with ferrite surrounding spheroidized graphite having about 5-10㎛ size and matrix structure of pearlite. Then, the contents of spheroidized graphite was about 5%. The retained austenite and carbon contents in the retained austenite were increased with the increasing of austenitizing and austempering temperatures, while the retained austenite showed the peak value and is decreased with increasing of austempering time. With increasing of austenitizing temperature, tensile strength, elongation and impact absorb energy increased and hardness was almost not changed, while with increasing of austempering temperature, tensile strength and hardness decreased, whereas elongation and impact absorb energy was increased. With increasing of retained austenite amount, the tensile strength is slowly decreased but elongation was increased with direct proportion. Also, Impact absorb energy is shown identity value untile about 18%, but rapidly increased above it. Elongation and Impact absorb energy are strongly controlled by the amount of retained austenite, but tensile strength is affected with various factors such as retained austenite amount and bainitic morphology.
RF Plasma 법으로 증착된 TiCN 박막의 구조 및 기계적 거동에 관한 연구

The structure and mechanical properties of TiN and TiCN thin films deposited on STD61 steel substrates by the RF-sputtering methods has been studied by using XPS, XRD, micro-hardness tester, scratch tester, and wear-resistance tester. XPS results showed that the TiCN thin film formed with chemical bonding state. The TiN thin films grew with (111) orientation having the lowest strain energy by compressive stress, whereas the TiCN thin films grew with both (111) and (200) orientation, but (200) orientation having the lowest surface energy becomes dominant as carbon contents increase. The pre-etching treatment of substrate did not affect on the preferred orientation of thin films, but it played an important role in improving mechanical properties of thin films such as the hardness, adhesion and wear-resistance. Especially, the TiCN thin films showed the superior wear resistances due to high hardness and low friction coefficient compared with TiN thin films.

The objective of this paper is to evaluate the fracture resistance characteristics of SA508 CL.la carbon steel, TP347 stainless steel and their associated welds manufactured for primary coolant system of Ulchin 3,4 nuclear power plants. The effect of various parameters such as pipe size, welding method, chemical composition, crack plane orientation, metallography and fractography on the material properties were discussed. Test results showed that the effect of pipe size on fracture toughness is negligible while the effect of welding method on fracture toughness is significant. In addition, the drop of fracture toughness in the field fabrication weld of TP347 stainless steel is probably due to the large amount of σ-phase precipitated on the δ-ferrite boundary and the large size dimples.
항-AFP 단클론항체를 이용한 암의 진단 및 치료효과의 검토

By noncompetitive ELISA using anti-AFP MAbs, it was confirmed that screening of serum AFP level is essential in diagnosis of the hepatocellular carcinoma. By indirect immunofluorescence technique, anti AFP MAbs were found to react with the surface of hepatoma cells (70%) and MCF-7 breastocarcinoma cells (45%), but not with ME-180 cervix carcinoma cells. The purified anti-AFP MAbs were coupled with RTA to form immunotoxin, whose effectiveness in in vitro killing of target cells was evaluated by cytotoxicity assay. The results showed that this immunotoxin was specifically cytotoxic to hepatocellular carcinoma cells.
Pseudomonas sp . 접종에 의한 항산화물 다량함유 로즈마리(Rosmarinus officialis L .)계통 선발

Pseudomonas sp.의 접종에 내성을 가진 로즈마리 계통은 basal phenolics, RA 함량 및 lignin 합성 등 여러 가지 생리적인 요인에 의해 항산화물의 합성을 조장내지는 억제하는 것으로 나타났으며 본 시험에서 나타난 주요결과는 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 이형종자집단(heterogeneous bulk population)에서 항산화물 합성량이 높은 7계통을 선발하였으며 계통의 유지 및 대량증식에는 MS/BAP 배지가 적당하였다. 2. R-11, 19 계통은 온실에서 다른 선발계통에 비해 2배정도 증식이 빠르고 Pseudomonas sp. 의 접종에 따른 phenolics 합성량도 많아 유망시되었다. The object of this experiment is to systemize micropropagation as well as select high rosmarinic acid producing rosemary clonal lines which are from heterogeneous seed population. Clonal line R-11, 19 showed higher level of phenolic compounds and rosmarinic acid by inoculation of Pseudomonas sp. Elite clonal lines which produced higher phenolic compounds and promoted lignification metabolic processing are R-11. 19.
