        We have encountered a rare case of symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating Escherichia coli sepsis in a 47-years-old male. He was successfully treated with antibiotics, anticoagulants, and vasodilator. To our knowledge, this is the first report on symmetrical peripheral gangrene complicating E. coli sepsis in Korea.

        Methylation Status and Expression of E-cadherin in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinomas Compared to Benign Oral Epithelial Lesions

        Expression of invasion/metastasis suppressor, E-cadherin, is reduced in many types of human carcinomas. Although somatic and germline utations in the CDH1, which encodes the human E-cadherin, have frequently been reported in cases with diffuse gastric and lobular breast ancers, irreversible genetic inactivations are rare in other human carcinomas. Recently, it has been well documented that some genes in human cancers may be inactivated by altered CpG methylation. Herein, we determined the expression and methylation status of E-cadherin in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) by immunohistochemistry and methylation-specific PCR. The expression of E-cadherin was significantly higher in the well-differentiated oral SCCs than the moderately or poorly differentiated ones. None of eight tested benign pithelial hyperplasias showed aberrant methylation, whereas five of 12 oral squamous cell carcinomas showed aberrant methylation. When we compared E-cadherin expression with methylation status, oral SCCs with normal methylation showed a higher expression of E-cadherin than those with methylation. These findings suggest that aberrant CpG methylation of CDH1 promoter region is closely associated with transcriptional inactivation and might be involved in tumor progression of the oral mucosa.

      • Latex Modified Concsdrete 교면공법을 이용한 포장공법의 Life Cycle Cost 분석

        라텍스 개질 콘크리트(Latex Modified Concrete : 이하 LMC라 약칭함)는 방수성, 동결성 등에서 뛰어난 재료이기 때문에 과거 35년 전부터 전 세계적으로 널리 이용되고 있는 포장재료이다. 그러나 아직 국내에서는 고가의 초기공사비 부담으로 인하여 시공실적이 전무한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 현재 우리나라에서 초기도입단계에 있는 라텍스 개질 콘크리트 교면 포장공법을 위한 LCC 분석 절차 및 사용자비용 모델을 제안하고자 하였고, 이러한 절차 및 모델에 기초하여 실제 대상교량의 포장공사에 적용하여 LMC의 LCC 측면에서의 비용 절감효과를 정량적으로 조사하고자 한다. Latex Modified Concrete(LMC) has been widely used for the pavement of highway bridges over the past 35years around the world since it is more resistant to the intrusion of chloride ions, has higher tensile, compressive, and flexural strength, and has greater freeze-thaw resistance. However, in Korea, it has not been introduced to fields due to higher initial construction cost for its overlay than conventional pavement materials. Due to durable characteristics, it should be noted that the LMC may be more cost-effective than conventional pavements such as asphalt pavement considering life-cycle cost(LCC) concept. The objective of this study is intended to suggest a practical LCC analysis model for pavement projects and to demonstrate relative cost-effectiveness of the LMC overlays in comparison with conventional pavement techniques. It may be stated that the procedure proposed in this study may be utilized for making optimal decision on cost-effective pavement design.

      • 초등학교 고학년과 중학년의 주행변인 비교분석

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematical analysis on the running motion of elementary students. The subject of this study was 12 healthy elementary students. A scholastic year were divided into 2 group : high group[6 grade], middle group[3 grade]. The following findings are obtained: It's appear that time ratio of the stance and swing in running motion about high group was 56% vs 44%, and this result was effected to wide step and stride length. Also, it's appear that displacement of center of gravity about high group was larger than middle group, and this result was effected to the horizontal velocity of center of gravity. Trunk angle was slanted to the running direction and upper arm rotation in shoulder angle was larger than middle group. And then this result was effected to the lower extremity movement. It's appear that time ratio of the stance and swing in running motion about middle group was 61% vs 39%, and this result was positively effected to narrow step and stride length. Also, it's appear that displacement of center of gravity about middle group was less than high group, and this result was effected to the low horizontal velocity of center of gravity. Trunk angle was slanted to the running direction and upper arm rotation in shoulder angle was less than high group. And then this result was negatively effected to the lower extremity movement.

      • Chiral Cu(Ⅱ)착화합물과 촉매로 유도된 Carbenoid반응에 의한 2-phenylcyclopropane-carboxylic acid의 광화학 이성체의 합성

        (-)-(IR, 2R)-trans-menthyl-2-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylate has been synthesized with aid of chiral Cu(Ⅱ) complex catalyst by the addition reaction of menthyldiazoacetate to the styrene. The yield was 80%, the purity of trans-compound over 90% and optical purity 75%. These results show the possibility of synthesis of (-)-(IR, 2R)-trans-2-phenylcyclopropane-carboxylic acid with high purities of optical activity and geometric specificity.

      • 불확실성 모델링을 사용한 지하철 건설공사의 확률적 위험도분석

        본 논문은 실제 건설공사에 적용할 수 있는 합리적이고도 체계적인 확률적 위험도분석 평가기법에 관한 연구로서 자료가 절대적으로 부족한 국내 현실에서 효과적으로 적용할 수 있는 위험도분석평가 모델을 제안하였다. 제안된 위험도분석평가 모델은 퍼지기법을 이용하여 전문가의 주관적인 판단을 위험도분석평가에 효과적으로 정량화 함으로써 분석 데이터가 부족한 국내 현실에서도 쉽게 적용 가능하게 하였으며, 언어적 불확실량의 모델링을 위해서 언어적이고 정성적인 표현을 정량적이고 확률적인 표현으로 전환하는 퍼지집합이론을 고려했다. 또한 적절한 분석기법 및 절차를 포함하고 있는 본 논문에서 제안한 절차를 바탕으로 전형적인 지하철 건설프로젝트의 위험도분석평가에 적용하여 건설공사 프로젝트를 위한 위험도 분석평가 모형의 적용성을 검증하였다.

        This study was carried out to investigate th effect of the physio-chemical properties of soil on the height growth of Pinus koraiensis. The results obtained were summarized as follow : 1. The multiple correlation coefficient of analysis data was 0.84. 2. The soil each factors relative to height growth of Pinus koraiensis were available P_2O_5, exc. Ca, total nitrogen, base sat., (Significant at the 1% level) and soil pH, exc. K, organic matter, C. E. C, (Significant at the 5% level). 3. The soil stepwise factors relative to height growth of Pinus koraiensis showed in order of available P_2O_5, exc. Ca, exc. Na, Base sat., total nitrogen, organic matter, exc. K. 4. Therefore, the regression equation was Y=1.9687+0.0894 available P_2O_5+0.0505 exc. Ca-0.0459 exc. Na+0.0694 Base sat.+0.0759 total nitrogen-0.0465 organic matter+0.0098 exc. K.

      • 개선된 퍼지램프함수를 이용한 건설공사의 확률적 위험도분석평가

        본 논문의 주된 목적은 실제 건설공사에 적용할 수 있는 체계적인 확률적 위험도분석 평가기법의 개발에 관한 기초연구로서, 우선 건설공사의 위험도분석 평가기법으로 적용 되어온 기존의 사건수분석(ETA : Event Tree Analysis)에 의한 방법[Ang/Tang, 1975]에 퍼지집합의 개념을 도입하여 전문가의 주관적인 판단을 언어학적 변량으로 취급하는 소위 퍼지사건수분석(FETA : Fuzzy Event Tree Analysis) 기법에 대해서 집중적으로 고찰하였다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 확률적 위험도분석 평가모형에 관한 연구로서 건설공사의 확률적 위험도분석 모형을 체계적으로 제시하고, Hadipriono가 임시가설 구조물의 경우에 적용시킨 퍼지사건수분석 기법을 발전시켜 새로운 Ramp 곡선을 제안하였다. Recently, in Korea, the demand for establishment of systematic risk assessment techniques for construction projects has increased, especially after the large construction failures occurred during construction such as New Hang-ju Bridge collapse, subway construction failure, and Taegu gas explosion accidents etc. Most of existing risk analysis techniques such as Event Tree Analysis may not be suitable for realistic risk assessment of construction projects because it is very complex and difficult to estimate occurrence frequency and failure probability precisely due to a lack of data related to the various risks inherent in construction projects like natural disasters, financial and economic risks, political risks, environmental risks as well as design and construction-related risks. The main objective of this paper is to suggest systematic probabilistic risk assessment model and demonstrate an approach for probabilistic risk assessment using advanced Fuzzy Ramp Function introducing Fuzzy set theory concepts. It may be stated that the approach may be very useful for the systematic and rational risk assessment for real construction projects because the approach can effectively deal with all the related construction risks in terms of the linguistic variables that could systematically incorporate expert's experiences and subjective judgement.
