생명과학기술, 생명윤리, 그리고 생태학적 관점의 관계 고찰 - 로이스 로리의 『더 기버』를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between bio-technology and bio-ethics through ecological perspectives and to find examples in literature for the inter-relationships and activating public’s ethical discourse. This study explores complementary relationship between bio-technology and bio-ethics because if our human society ignores bio-technology’s positive fruits due to some faults, it will lack elements of human’s fundamental quality of life as well as the uncertainty of our survival. Therefore, our human society needs various resources to sustain its quality of life through diverse discourses, from different viewpoints such as ethics and literature as well as science-technology. This study tries to explore the relationship between technological effectiveness and biodiversity and to connect them to bio-ethics' possibility based on an ecological perspective. To find the social control's problems of human society, First, this study analyzes biodiversity decreases. Also, it relates biodiversity to the absence of bio-ethic consciousness. With these theoretical basis, this study suggests that Lois Lowry's work, The Giver, exemplifies inter-relationships among bio-technology, bio-ethics, and ecological perspectives. The reason to find this inter-relationship in the literature is that the literary works can easily connect each disciples and interpret each other. In addition, because literature can also have relations with the pubic audience, it can widen some discourses in the public. With this interdisciplinary aspect among bio-tech, bio-ethics, and literature, this study would like to reveal new approaches to a variety of problems in human society, to have some discussion, and to find proper reponses for these problems.

농부가 아닌 환자에서 발생한 긴털가루진드기(Tyrophagus Putrescentiae)에 의한 기관지천식 1례

Storage mites are believed one of the most important allergens in farmers and rural regions. Tyrophagus putrescenitiae, belonging to storage mites, is found not only within storehouses but also in the house dust, and the third most common mites following Dematophagoides farinae and Dermatophagoides pteronyssnus in house dust in Korea. The sensitization rate to Trophagus putrescentiae was reported as high as that of house dust mite in patients visiting the allergy clinic in large cities in Korea. We experienced a 69-year-old man who had suffered from dyspnea, wheezing, and coughing for 10 years. He retired from the teaching profession, and had lived in a large city. Deajeon. The skin prick test showed a positive reaction to Tyrophagus putrescentiae and negative reactions to house dust mites. The bronchial challenge test with Tyrophagus putrescentiae showed late asthmatic reaction. We confirmed a Tyrophagus putrescentiae induced asthma in non occupational setting. RCV(Rated Composite Vectors)를 이용한 적응적 특징점 추출에 관한 연구

The dominant point detection is an effectual step on pattern recognition, feature description, and ogject reconstruction. In this paper, we propose a novel measurement of curvature along tje digital planar curve. We call it the rated composite vectors for cosine(RCV-cosine) measurement because of the analogy to the k-cosine measurement advocated by Rosenfeld for describing angle detection. We define the RCV as a composite vector obtained by iteratively and adaptively rating the vectors described in our algorithm. We estimate "angle" with RCV replacing a fixed window size k for cosine measurement. For each point in the curve we find both left and right RCVs that are similar to left and right tangents, and thus calculate the angle, called RCV-cosine value, between two RCVs through cosine measurement. The dominant points are obtained by local maximum of RCV cosine values. The proposed algorithm is robust on raw synthetic images and extracts the dominant points effectively and correctly. We present several experimental results and illustrate that our approach is invariant to translation, rotation and slight scaling, and it is closer to human percption.

低溫에서의 活性슬럿지법에 의한 有機性廢水 處理

The activated sludge treatment for the synthetic waste water was investigated under low temperature of 5℃ and the results were as follows ; 1. In the case, of the synthetic waste water of peptone was used the COD removal was unstable. 2. In the synthetic waste water of starch, we could found that pH was stable and the COD removal was about 83%. 3. Inspite of change of MLSS on the activated sludge the constant COD removal was obtained. 4. When the synthetic waste water was treated for long term in the activated sludge the SVI was increased gradually. 5. Non filamentous flocculation on the activated sludge was transformed into filamentous bulking floc. 6. Bioflocculation formed on the activated sludge was small compared with that of conventional activated sludge.

The purpose of this paper is to present the method of Measurement and countermeasure of the temporal and spectral properties of the magnetic and electronic fields of radio noise that emanates from power lines.

數 種 韓藥의 아세틸콜린에스터레이즈 酵素活性에 대한 효과

아세틸콜린에스터레이즈(AChE)는 신경조직에 분포하는 효소로 신경전달물질 중 아세틸콜린(ACh)을 분해하는 효소로 시냅스 신호전달체계에 있어 중요한 역할을 하는 효소이다. 현재 알츠하이머병과 치매치료에 사용하는 서양약물은 AChE의 활성을 저해하는 작용기전을 가진다. 목적 : 전통적으로 기억력 감퇴, 치매 등 치료에 사용되어 온 한약의 AChE에 대한 작용을 밝히기 위해 본 실험이 구상되었다. 방법 : 생쥐 대뇌신경세포의 균질 혼합액으로부터 효소의 활성을 Ellman 방법을 개선한 엘리자(ELISA)법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 결과 : 실험결과 天花? 의 6종이 2.5㎎/㎖의 농도에서 우수한 효소활성저해력을 보였고, 50% 효소활성 저해농도(ID_50)를 구한 결과, 天花?의 ID_50은 1.5㎎/㎖이었고, ??? 1.2 ㎎/㎖, ?? 2.0 ㎎/㎖, ??草 1.2 ㎎/㎖, ??? 1.0 ㎎/㎖, ??生 1.7㎎/㎖, 및 大?皮 2.0 ㎎/㎖를 나타내어 忍冬?의 저해력이 가장 우수하였다. 결론 : 치매 및 기억력감퇴 증상을 치료하는 한약의 작용기전 중 AChE 효소활성억제효과는 忍冬? 의 6종에서 나타났으며, 이는 전통적인 한방치료에 과학적인 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 생각한다.

개념적 분석방법을 응용한 자연 한글 질의어 인터페이스에 관한 연구

This thesis presents a model of Natural Hangul Database Front End that is the interface between natural language understanding and database queries. This system enables and users to get the right answers with less frustration, and little requirements for the technical support This system is divided into two parts. The language processing part of the system uses Conceptual Analysis that maps the natural language input into the representation of its meaning, and uses Conceptual Dependency theory as the representation of conceptual-level meaning to remove the ambiguity in processing the natural Hangul query. The other part contructs an adequate logic query that can be translated into the formal query for the relational database. Also included are discussions of the method to improve the system adaptability.

다량의 하부위장관출혈이 병발된 Vibrio vulnificus 패혈증 1예

최근 저자들은 Vibrio vulnificus 감염에 의해 패혈증 및 이차성 피부 병변을 보인 42세의 남자 환자의 치료중 하부 위장관 출혈이 병발된 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. We experienced a case of Vibrop vulnificus septicemia which showed an unusual manifestation such as hematochezia. The patient was a 42-year-old man with chronic liver disease. The blood and wound culture revealed the organism. During intensive care, he suffered from massive hematochezi for several days. Colonoscopy and abdominal CT showed findings suspicious of ischemic colitis. To our knowledge, this is the first unusual case of V.vulnificus infection which showed massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

RT-LAMP를 이용한 콩황화일반모자이크바이러스의 진단

Soybean yellow common mosaic virus (SYCMV) has been recently reported, it has been occurred a lot with Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) and Soybean yellow mottle mosaic virus (SYMMV) in soybean field. SYCMV belongs to genus of Sobemovirus and induced viral symptoms with yellowing, mottle and mosaic. A reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) method allowed one-step detection of gene amplification by simple procedure and needed only a simple incubator for isothermal template. This RT-LAMP method allowed direct detection of RNA from virus-infected plants without thermal cycling and gel electrophoresis. In this study, we designed RT-LAMP primers named SYCML-F3/B3/FIP/BIP from coat protein gene sequence of SYCMV. After the reaction of RTLAMP, products were identified by electrophoresis and with the detective fluorescent dye, SYBR Green I. under daylight and UV light. Optimal reaction condition was at 63 for 60min and the primers of RTLAMP showed the specificity for only SYCMV tested in this study.
