      • 과학 포트폴리오 체제의 적용이 초등학생의 사회심리학적 교실 환경에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of the research is to investigate the effects of a portfolio system on students' socio-psychological classroom environments in elementary science class. Two schools were selected from a metropolitan area, a city, and one school from a rural area in central Korea. Two fifth-grade classes were sampled from each school selected, and one class is assigned to experimental group and the other to control group, respectively. The total number of participants of the study is 399. Portfolio system was administered to experimental group, and conventional teaching to control group for two and half month. WIHIC, an inventory to measure socio-psychological classroom environment, was administered as a pre-and post-test. Experimental group gained statistically higher scores on WIHIC after administering portfolio system. They showed more positive perceptions on sub-areas of WIHIC such as teacher support, task orientation, and equity. There is interaction between region and group: the effects of the portfolio system is highest in rural area, lowest in metropolitan area, and the city in between. Portfolio system have positive effects on students' socio-psychological classroom environments. Enhanced socio-psychological classroom environments is expected to contribute to positive self-concept, higher science achievements, and self-directed learning.

      • 河床에 賦有되어 있는 모나자이트에 對하여 : Based on ChoongBuk Province Area 忠北을 中心으로

        The monazite deposits in south Korea are widely distributed as placer deposits, especially associate with gold placer deposits. The source rock of the monazite placer deposits in Korea are chiefly old aged granite gneiss, granite(chiefly schistose granite and two mica granite), mica schist and pogmatite. When these rocks which contain as much as 0.0018 percent of monazite were destroyed, the monazite bearing heavy sand were deposited mainly at the lower reaches of a river and at ragged beach(prevalently middle east cost) through sedimentation. We can assume that in Choong Bug Province the favorable environment for the monazite placer deposits lie in narrow river (less than 30m in width) and in auriferous strata above the bed rock, which are not far from the source rocks. No vein type deposits are found in Korea. Before 1958, the monazite were actively produced from many placer deposits, but during several years till 1966 a reduction in foreign market demand led to the repose of many monazite mines. Despite of the foreign market depression, from 1964 the domestic demand have increased and led to the production of several manufacturer, like a welding agent fire proof material and radiation. In Choongbuk Province, the Gamgok and Sangkeug area were covered granit gneiss, there are the ratio of Ilmenite 32.7-34.4%, Garnet 23.5-31.1%, Monazite 18.8-22.5%, Zircon 7.2-9.6% and Magnetite 59.6%, and there are included a few of accessory minerals such as epidote and ilomonite. The radio of granite area is as follow: limonite 59.6%, Magnetite 20.8%, Zilcon 8.2%, Monazite 5.6%, and Garnet 3.4%. At Jincheon and Mudbak area, there were covered with mica schist, granite gneiss and aluvium. The ratios of rock forming mineral are Garnet 34.5%, Zilcon 19.5%, Ilmenite 16.5% and Monazite 13.8%. In case of Youngduri area, there is Monazite 0.096% which contained chemical analysis of ThO₂ 5.9% and R₂O₃ 55.3%.

        This study investigates changes in cooling efficiency for heat sink plate width, perforated width, and chamfer angle as part of a parameter study to maximize cooling efficiency of heat sink by setting various variables on plates. The width of the plate is set to 16, 20, 24, 28 mm, perforated width 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 mm, chamfer angles 5, 10, 15 and 20°. By conducting a computational study with Ansys Fluent, the sink plate with plate width of 16mm, perforated width of 3mm and chamfer angle of 10° is shown to be the best cooling efficiency.

        환경 오염물질의 진보된 독성 평가 기법

        Recently, several new methods for the detection of genetic damages in vitro and in vivo based on molecular biological techniques were introduced according to the rapid progress in toxicology combined with cellular and molecular biology. Among these methods, mouse lymphoma thymidine kanase (tk) gene forward mutation assay, single cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay) and transgenic animal and cell line model as a target gene of lac I (Big Blue) and lac Z (Muta Mouse) gene mutation are newly introduced based on molecular toxicological approaches. The mouse lymphoma tk^(+/-) gene assay (MOLY) using L5178Y tk+i- mouse lymphoma cell line is one of the mammalian forward mutation assays, and has many advantages and more sensitive than hprt assay. The target gene of MOLY is a heterozygous tk^(+/-) gene located in 11 chromosome, so it is able to detect the wide range of genetic changes like point mutation, deletion, rearrangement, and mitotic recombination within tk gene or deletion of entire chromosome 11. The comet assay is a rapid, simple, visual and sensitive technique for measuring and analysing DNA breakages in mammalian cells. Also, transgenic animal and cell line models, which have exogenous DNA incorporated into their genome, carry recoverable shuttle vector containing reporter genes to assess endogenous effects or alteration in specific genes related to disease process, are powerful tools to study the mechanism of mutation in vivo and in vitro, respectively. Also in vivo acridine orange supravital staining micronucleus assay by using mouse peripheral reticulocytes was introduced as an alternative of bone marrow micronucleus assay. In this respect, there was an International workshop on genotoxicity procedure (IWGTP) supported by OECD and EMS (Environmental Mutagen Society) at Washington D, C, in March 25-26, 1999. The objective of IWGTP is to harmonize the testing procedures internationally, and to extend to finalization of OECD guideline, and to the agreement of new guidelines under the International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) for these methods mentioned above. Therefore, we introduce and review the principle, detailed procedure, and application of MOLY, comet assay, transgenic mutagenesis assay and supravital staining micronucleus assay.

        도시지역 여자고등학생들의 체형과 체형에 대한 의식 및 자각증상과의 관계

        Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between body type subjective symptoms and health awareness in female high school students Methods: The subjects were 393 students at the female high school in Taejon City by self-recorded questionnaires in May, 2006. Results: In the classification of body type based on the degree of obesity low weight group was 20.9% normal weight group was 58.0% over weight group was 11.7% and obesity group was 9.4% In the level of body type awareness those who consider themselves to be obesity type 13.7% standard type were 43.8% and leptosomic type 8.1% but there was a clear tendency to be leptosomic type that the rate was 76.3% In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms "fatigue" was the highest followed by "neck pain(stiffness)", "dizziness", "stomachache" in the descending order In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms by the degree of obesity dizziness irregular menstruation and anorexia were higher according to the lower obesity but constipation and wearied eyes were the higher the more obesity Conclusion: The study results showed that the recent female high school students were clear tendency to be leptosomic type and leptosomic and obesity type were related with subjective symptoms Considering these findings it appeared that being excessively thin is related to symptoms and young women's thinness-oriented attitudes are unhealthful.

      • GO-24 : Forkhead box P1 (Foxp1) in cervical cancer

        목적: The forkhead box protein 1 (FOXP1) is considered as both a tumor suppressor candidate and a potential oncogene. Here, we investigated FOXP1 expression in cervical cancer, and the clinical significance of FOXP1 and it`s mechanism of action in cervical cancer. 방법: FOXP1`s functional role was investigated by employing lentiviral-mediated overexpression and knockdown in cervical cancer cell lines. Immunohistochemical staining for FOXP1 was performed on a cervical cancer tissue microarray consisting of 158 primary cervical cancers, 280 cervical intraepithelial neoplasias (CINs), and 378 matched normal tissues. 결과: FOXP1 overexpression promoted cell proliferation and tumorigenesis, whereas FOXP1 knockdown inhibited these properties in HeLa and CaSki cell lines. By immunohistochemical staining, FOXP1 expression increased during the normal to tumor transition of cervical carcinoma (p< 0.001), and this increased expression was significantly associated with tumor stage (p=0.009) and tumor grade (p< 0.001). In multivariate analysis, FOXP1+ (p=0.031) and tumor stage (p=0.032) were independent prognostic factors for overall survival. 결론: Taken together, our data indicate that FOXP1 has a crucial role in cervical cancer progression, and its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis, supporting that FOXP1 may be used as a promising novel target for therapeutic interventions.

      • 췌십이장절제술 환자의 휴식대사량 측정방법 비교 분석

        Purpose: An accurate determination of energy expenditure is needed to prevent postoperative complications and provide effective medical care for surgical patients. The aim of this study was to compare measured resting energy expenditure (REE) in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) using an indirect calorimetry (IC) with the help of five predictive equations. Methods: The subjects chosen for the study were 18 patients (12 males, 6 females) who underwent PD at Chonbuk National University Hospital between March 2010 and October 2011. REE was measured by IC (ICREE) and calculated with the following five predictive equations - (eqREE)-Harris-Benedict (HB), Mifflin St. Jeor (MI), American College of Chest Physician (AC), Ireton- Jones (IJ) and Cunningham (CU) equation - on postoperative day 3. Results: The mean measured REE by IC was 1,117.9 ±180.2, whereas the mean predicted REE by HB, MI, AC, IJ and CU equations were 1,241.3±156.1, 1,226±153.0, 1,401.7±188.0, 1,355.1±342.7, and 1,324.8±188.7 kcal/ day, respectively. The mean predicted REE by HB, MI, AC, IJ, and CU were found to be significantly different from the measured ICREE. The intraclass correlation coefficient ICC), which describes the degree of agreement with the ICREE, was significantly highest in CUeq REE (r= 0.679). The rate of accuracy of HBeq REE, MIeq REE, ACeq REE, IJeq REE, and CUeq REE for ICREE was 27.8%, 50.0%, 27.8%, 22.2%, and 23.5%, respectively, in individual subjects. Conclusion: The intraclass correlation coefficient (r= 0.124∼0.679) and accuracy rate (22.2∼50.0%) determined from the results of REE measured by IC and that calculated by five predictive equations were low in overall. The low accuracy rate of energy expenditure by equations, which apply uniform indicators, can be explained by ongoing metabolic changes of the patient. Thus, the use of IC is recommended to assess energy requirements in PD; when this method is not practical in clinical settings, nutrition intervention is needed through regular monitoring because of the low accuracy rate of the predictive methods and ICREE that can cause inappropriate energy management, leading to metabolic disorders.         Malignant hyperthermia is an inherited hypermetabolic syndrome, characterized by temperature elevation, muscle destruction, muscle rigidity, high oxygen consumption, and metabolic acidosis. It is usually triggered by anesthetic agents and neuromuscular relaxants. We present a case of malignant hyperthermia who developed rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy following an apparently uneventful general anesthesia. Anesthesia was induced with thiopental sodium and succinylcholine. He was successfully treated with dantrolene along with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and hemodialysis.
