In the present paper, a new concept called conditional are is added to tranditional GSPN(Generalized Stochastic Petri net) of which effectiveness is proved through an application to an instruction pipeline of general-purpose CPU. The problem in applying Petri nets including GSPN to performance evaluation of computer systems is that the number of nodes of reachability graph increases exponentially with the number of places in the model. Conditional ares proposed in this paper are shown to be a good tool not only for reducing the number of places in the model, but making the task of model construction easy.

Backg round/ Aims : The hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes have been shown to be differently distributed among distinct geographic areas and associated with different clinical present at ions . The authors investigated the distribution of HCV genotypes in Korean patients with chronic HCV infection and the as sociation of HCV genotypes with age, sex, severity of the liver disease, and the possible mode of transmission. Methods : The study population consisted of 143 patients with chronic HCV infect ion: 13 with normal ALT , 78 with chronic hepatitis , 35 with cirrhosis , 17 with hepat ocellular car cinoma (HCC). HCV genotypes were determined by line probe assay. Result s : The principal HCV genotype was 1b ( 56%) and followed by 2a/ c ( 32%), mixed (8%), 2b ( 3%), and 1a (1%). Patients infected with type 1b and 2a/ c were older than those with ot her genotypes (p$lt; 0.05). Genotype 1b tended to be more prevalent among patients with HCC ( 76% compared with 53% for patients with other liver diseases ; p=0.07). There was no significant relations hip bet ween genotypes and sex or mode of transmission. Conclusion : The most common HCV genotype in Korea was type 1b and followed by 2a/ 2c. Although patients infected with type 1b and 2a/c were older than those with other genotypes , there was no correlation between genotypes and sex, severity of liver disease, or mode of transmission. Self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) were grown by molecular-beam epitaxy and their structure and strain characteristics were studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM investigations were performed by conventional bright field TEM, high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM), annular dark field (ADF) and high angle annular dark filed (HAADF)-STEM techniques. In addition, strain analysis was performed on an atomic-length scale by measuring the space of lattices in HREM. The QDs were found to form a lens-shaped structure with side facet. Compressive strain was induced to uncapped QDs from GaAs substrate and the strain increased more than 3.5% after GaAs cap layer growth. On the other hand, tensile strain by capped QDs was induced to GaAs up tolO nm over the QDs, i.e. 15 nm over the wetting layer. It was also confirmed that the tensile strain extension resulted in aligned QD growth with 15 nm thick spacers. Vertically aligned QDs could be grown by the tensile strain from predeposited QDs when the thickness of GaAs spacer was less than 15 nm.

To elucidate the clinical characteristics of the intracranial germ cell tumor, to find out the appropriate diagnostic measures and to evaluate the different effect of various therapeutic modalities on survival, 60 patients with intracranial germ cell tumor were examined retrospectively. Intracranial germ cell tumors displayed specificity in site of origin. Ninety-five percent arose along the midline from the suprasellar cistern to the pineal gland. The age distribution of the afflicted patients was unimodal, centering with an abrupt surge in frequency in the early pubertal years. Pineal germ cell tumors demonstrated an earlier onset of age than suprasellar germ cell tumors. While pineal tumors presented as the posterior third ventricular masses with hydrocephalus and midbrain compression, suprasellar tumors commonly presented with diabetes insipidus, visual field defect and hypothalamic-pituitary failure. With a subpopulation of 55 conventionally treated patients, two factors were of prognostic significance: 1) follow-up CT after 2000 rad irradiation 2) relapse after treatment response. At present, it might be assumed that it is an optimalapproach to observe the response after 2000 rad irradiation consigering the high operative risk especially in case of pineal tumor.

Background: The relative frequency, clinical features, and survival outcomes of secondary cutaneous lymphoma remain poorly understood. Objectives: To determine the clinical characteristics and survival outcomes of secondary cutaneous lymphoma. Methods: The present retrospective cohort study included all 106 patients who presented with secondary cutaneous lymphoma. Patient medical records were reviewed to determine the clinical features, survival outcomes, and prognostic factors. Results: Secondary cutaneous lymphomas consisted of mature T-/NK-cell lymphomas (56%), mature B-cell lymphomas (35%), immature hematopoietic malignancies (8%), and Hodgkin lymphoma (1%). The lymphoma cell lineage did not significantly influence survival, even though T-/NK-cell lymphoma skin lesions were more extensive than B-cell lymphoma skin lesions. Prognostic factors that associated with poor survival were elevated lactate dehydrogenase at the time of initial staging, extranodal lymphoma, disseminated skin lesions, and an early (<6 months) development of skin lesions after the initial diagnosis. The two lymphoma cell lineages differed in terms of prognostic factors that influenced survival. Conclusion: Skin lesion characteristics such as time point of appearance and extent affect the survival outcomes of secondary cutaneous lymphoma. Cell lineage did not influence survival outcomes but the two lineages associated with different prognostic factors.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the kinematical characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions and to provide useful information to gymnastic athletes in men``s vault. Method: The study subjects were 12 male adult top athletes. After 12 trials (7 Lou Yun and 5 Akopian trials) filmed by using two digital high-speed camcorders set at 90 frames/sec, kinematical data were collected through the direct linear transformation (DLT) method. The mean differences in biomechanical variables were compared during the second flight upward phase. The kinematic characteristics of somersault with twist in the Lou Yun and Akopian motions were identified. Results: In Lou Yun motion, the vertical release velocity through horse breaking was not difficult to obtain, so the athletes had enough time to prepare for the twist. Therefore, the Lou Yun motion has an advantage to make a cat twist in the pike posture. In the Akopian motion, obtaining the horizontal velocity through horse pushing was so easy that the Akopian athletes attained a large angular impulse and angular momentum. Therefore, the Akopian motion has an advantage to making a tilt twist in the body tilting posture. Conclusion: This study suggests that gymnastic athletes should control their body segment movements in order to increase the twisting angular velocity of the whole body, which requires regulation of the longitudinal moment of inertia of the body. Moreover, athletes should prepare for the shoulder and hip twists early in order to make the landing position in advance.
