Turbine blade is subject to force of three type; torsional force by torsion-mount, centrifugal force by rotation of rotor and cyclic bending force by steam pressure. Cyclic bending force of them is main factor on fatigue fracture. SEM fractography show micro-crack width is not dependent on stress intensity factor range. Especially, fatigue striation does not exist on SEM photograph. To clear out fracture mechanism of turbine blade, nanofractography is needed on 3-dimensional crack initiation and crack growth with high magnification. Fatigue striation partially exists on AFM photograph. Therefore, to find fracture reason of torsion-mounted blade in nuclear power plant, we estimate the relation between stress intensity factor range and surface roughness measured by AFM and predict load amplitude ΔP applied to turbine blade

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1997. 99 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 45(45.5%) were PPNG. Conclusion : The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 45.5% in 1997.
가금류 생균제 개발을 위한 Lactobacillus fermentum YL-3의 분리 및 생리 특성

국내 환경적 요인을 감안하여 국내의 닭에서 젖산균을 분리하고 각 균주들의 내산성, 내담즙성, 내열성, 병원성균 성장 억제 능력등을 조사하여 가장 성상이 우수한 균주를 선발함으로써 생균제용 균주의 선발과 산업적으로 이용 가능성을 조사하였다. pH 3.5에서 1차적으로 내산성이 있는 139균주를 분리하였으며, 0.3% 담즙에 대한 내성이 있는 111균주를 분리하였다. 산 생성 및 기타 특성을 조사한 후 최종적으로 34 균주를 선발한 후 그 중 24시간에 가장 빠른 성장률을 보이고 pH 2.0에서 3시간동안 정치했을 때 가장 많은 생존율을 나타낸 Lactobacillus fermentum YL-3을 생균제 가능 균주로 선발하였다. YL-3의 내산성은 pH3.0에서 3시간 동안 60%의 생존률을 나타내고, pH 2.5는 50%, pH2.0에서는 40%의 생존율을 나타내었다. 그러나 pH 2.0에서 12시간 동안에도 사멸하지 않고 10^7 CFU/ml의 생균수를 유지하였다. YL-3의 내담즙성은 0.3% 담즙에 대하여 사멸되거나 억제되지 않고 12시간 동안에 성장을 보였다. 또한 0.5, 1.0, 2.0%가 첨가된 액체배지에서 24시간의 배양 후에도 같은 경향을 나타내었다. YL-3의 내열성은 45℃에서는 생균수의 큰 감소 폭을 나타내지 않았지만 그 이상의 온도에서는 급격히 생균수가 감소하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. Sal. enteritidis, E. coli와의 혼합 배양에서 Sal. enteritidis는 혼합 배양한지 15시간만에, E. coli는 16시간만에 억제효과를 나타내었다. This study was performed to screen lactic acid bacteria in domestic poultry for the probiotic use. Among the previously obtained acid tolerant, 139 strains, 11 strains were selected with MRS medium containing 0.3% oxgall. 34 strains of 111 was reselected by Gram-staining and acid producing ability. These strains was identified by MIDI Sherlock Microbial Identification System. Among the identified 34 strains Lactobacillus fermenum YL-3 was selected for the final probiotic use because of the good growth and high survival rate at pH 2.0. 60%, 50% and 40% cells of Lactobacillus fermentum YL-3 survived at pH 3.0, 2.5 and 2.0, respectively. More than 10^7 CFU/ml survived when exposed with the number of 10^8 CFU/ml at pH 2.0 after 12 hr. L. fermenum YL-3 maintained growth in MRS broth containing 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0% oxgall for 24 hr. L. fermenum YL-3 showed an inhibitory effect against pathogenic strains of Sal. enteritidis and E. coli O157:H7. In mixed culture with L. fermenum YL-3 Sal. enteritidis lost ability completely in 15 hrs and E. coli O157:H7 in 16hrs.
양자화된 CNN 모델을 이용한 실시간 손 글씨 숫자 인식

Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)는 많은 가중치를 포함하여 계산 비용이 많이 들기 때 문에 고성능 하드웨어가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 CNN의 메모리 용량을 경량화 하면서도 이미지 분류의 정확도는 떨어뜨리지 않기 위해 가중치들을 양자화하는 Quantized Convolution Neural Network(QCNN)을 사용한다[1]. 실제 환경에서의 성능 확인을 위해 웹캠으로 찍은 손 글씨 이미지를 인식한 결과 95%의 정확도를 확인하였다. QCNN을 사용한 결과 이미지 분류 정확도가 CNN과 거의 유사한 정확도를 유지함과 동시에 가중치를 저장하는 메모리의 용량은 10.7배 감소하였다. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C and its receptor, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR)-3, are responsible for lymphangiogenesis in both embryos and adults. In epilepsy, the expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 was significantly upregulated in the human brains affected with temporal lobe epilepsy. Moreover, pharmacologic inhibition of VEGF receptors after acute seizures could suppress the generation of spontaneous recurrent seizures, suggesting a critical role of VEGF-related signaling in epilepsy. Therefore, in the present study, the spatiotemporal expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 against pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus (SE) was investigated in C57BL/6N mice using immunohistochemistry. At 1 day after SE, hippocampal astrocytes and microglia were activated. Pyramidal neuronal death was observed at 4 days after SE. In the subpyramidal zone, VEGF-C expression gradually increased and peaked at 7 days after SE, while VEGFR-3 was significantly upregulated at 4 days after SE and began to decrease at 7 days after SE. Most VEGF-C/VEGFR-3-expressing cells were pyramidal neurons, but VEGF-C was also observed in some astrocytes in sham-manipulated animals. However, at 4 days and 7 days after SE, both VEGFR-3 and VEGF-C immunoreactivities were observed mainly in astrocytes and in some microglia of the stratum radiatum and lacunosum-moleculare of the hippocampus, respectively. These data indicate that VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 can be upregulated in hippocampal astrocytes and microglia after pilocarpine-induced SE, providing basic information about VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 expression patterns following acute seizures.

A 2-year-old female Maltese dog was presented with a history of anemia and vaginal hemorrhagic discharge. Physical examination revealed severe vaginal hemorrhagic discharge, abdominal pain, pale mucous membranes, low blood pressure and dehydration. Results of serum biochemistry, hematology, venous blood gas, and electrolyte canine C-reactive protein (CRP) test revealed severe normocytic normochromic anemia, severe neutropenia, a high level of CRP, hypoglycemia, and imbalanced electrolytes. Abdominal ultrasound examination showed focal hypoechoic defect with loss of layering in uterine horn wall. A laparotomy revealed a clear reddish fluid in the abdomen, the fistula of left and right uterine horn, the purulent discharge from fistula, and symptoms of septic peritonitis near by the fistula site. The bitch underwent ovariohysterectomy and recovered without complication. Histopathological diagnosis of the uterine fistula site was adenocarcinoma.
