      • The insect community structure with indicator species along vegetation composition in Is. Nam-hae, South Korea

        An insect faunal survey was carried out to investigate insect community structure along the vegetation community to monitor insect species in forest ecosystem. We performed day and night collections from June to August along three vegetation communities of Is. Nam-hae in 2014: the first stand with Pinus thunbergii, the second P. thunbergii with Quercus serrata and the third P. thunbergii with various Quercus species. In total 2,259 individuals of 532 species, 99 families, 13 orders are identified. Cluster Analyses (CA) showed that all three vegetation communities were relatively similar between vegetation community types. According to indicator species analysis (ISA) result, nine significant indicator species were identified (p < 0.05); five species were found to be affected by the vegetation cluster and four species the month cluster.

        한국인 인슐린 비의존형 당뇨병 및 이차성 당뇨병 환자에서 글루코키나제 유전자 변이

        N/A Objectives: Mutations in the glucokinase (GCK) gene are considered a possible cause of maturity-onset diabetes of the young. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the contribution of this gene to the development of non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and post-renal transplantation diabetes mellitus (PTDM). Method: Identification of GCK mutation was attempted on 39 NIDDM patients, 2 GDM patients and 58 selected renal allograft recipients with PTDM and 45 normal controls. The exons in the GCK gene were examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), followed by analysis of single-stranded DNA conformational polymorphism (SSCP). The abnormal bands were also confirmed by DNA sequencing analysis. The exons of affected family members were also investigated for mutations of the GCK gene. Results: Two of the 58 PTDM patients (3.4%) were found to have CKK mutations. One had the mutation on exon 5 and the other on intron 7. One control subject had the mutation on intmn 9. The mutation of exon 5 was identified as a substitution of CCT (proline) for CTT (leucine) at codon 164, which has not ever reported before. The family members of the PFDM patient with mutation of exon 5 were analyzed by PCR followed by SSCP, and two of them revealed the same mutation. The abnormal band on the SSCP analysis of exon 7 was identified as the insertion of base C/T at the 39th nucleotide in intron 7. Two family members of this patients also had same band on SSCP. The one mutation of 45 normal controls was CT located at the 8th nucleotide in intron 9, which was a common polymorphism. Conclusion: We found GCK mutations in subjects with PTDM and we speculate that these mutations may be one of the contributing cause of PTDM.

      • DS/CDMA 시스템에서 핸드오프 방식에 따른 얼랑용량과 링크마진 계산에 의한 셀 커버리지

        PCS CDMA 시스템의 역방향 링크에서 핸드오프 기법에 따라 얼랑용량과 링크마진을 구하는 각각의 차단확률을 유도하였다. 동일한 시스템 파라메터로 그 값을 계산해서 COST-231 전파모델을 적용한 전파손실을 구할 때 적용하였으며, 현실적인 셀 최대용량으로 얼랑용량을 계산해 여러 지역에서 셀 커버리지와의 관계를 새로운 관점에서 분석하였다. 소프트핸드오프를 하는 상황에서 E_(b)/N_(o)=5 dB에서 차단확률을 5 %에서 2 %로 낮출 경우 링크마진은 0.88 dB 더 높여야하고 용량이 20 얼랑에서 2 얼랑 감소함에 따라 도시지역의 셀 커버리지도 0.1 km 줄어들지만 신뢰성과 서비스품질을 높일 수 있었다. 차단확률 5 % 이내에서 E_(b)/N_(o)=7 dB에서 5 dB로 낮게 적용할 경우 마진은 똑같이 2.8 dB로 적용해도 용량은 11 얼랑에서 9 얼랑 증가와 함께 커버리지도 1.5 km에서 0.2 km 증가하였다. 이때 하드핸드오프에 비하면 2.16 dB의 마진을 더 줄일 수 있어 10 얼랑 증가와 함께 0.22 km 늘어나는 소프트핸드오프 이득이 발생하였다. 또한 핸드오프를 하지 않는 단일 셀 경우에 비해서는 용량은 10 얼랑 이상 감소하지만 1.31 dB의 마진을 줄일 수 있어 셀 커버리지도 0.17 km 증가하였다. We derive the outage probability for the Erlang capacity and link margin according to handoffs in the reverse link of a PCS CDMA system, calculate them with the same parameters, and then analyze newly the cell coverage with the maximum realizable Erlang capacity in different areas by the COST-231 model. If it decreases from 5 % to 2 % in case of E_(b)/N_(o)=5 dB, the result shows a very reliable link on the additional increase of 0.88 dB in the margin and a high quality of service within coverage decrease of 0.1 km from 1.5 km in city area on the decrease of 2 Erlang from 20 Erlang in the capacity. When the E_(b)/N_(o) decreases from 7 dB to 5 dB within the outage probability of 5 % under a soft handoff, it shows the increase of 9 Erlang from 11 Erlang and of 0.2 km in it on the same margin of 2.8 dB. Then, comparing it with a hard handoff, it shows the soft handoff gain of the decrease of 2.16 dB in the margin, the increase of 10 Erlang, and of 0.22 km in it. Also, comparing it with a single cell, the decrease of more than 10 Erlang, but the enlargement of 0.17 km on the decrease of 1.31 dB.

      • Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase와 Cyclodextrinase를 생산하는 Bacillus 속 세균의 분리와 그 효소들의 특성

        A bacterium producing Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase (CGTase) and Cyclodextrinase (CDase) was isolated from soil, and named as Bacillus stearothermophilus KJ16 . The growth of the isolated strain occurred in two steps, and syntheses of CGTase and CDase were dependent on the growth cycle of the cell. CGTase was constitutively synthesized during the 1st growing phase. while CDase was synthesized inducibly during the 2nd growing phase. When the medium pH was controlled at 7.0, the maximun enzyme activities of CGTase and CDase were increased by 12-fold (1300 mU/ml) and 2-fold (225 mU/ml), respectively, compared with the pH-uncontrolled batch culture. The CGTase of the isolate converted soluble starch to CDs with the ratio of α-CD:β-CD:γ-CD=42:46:12 at 55℃. The optimal pH and temperature of CGTase were 6.0 and 60℃,respectively and the optimal pH and temperature of CDase were 6.0 and 55℃. The molecular weights of the purified CGTase and CDase were estimated to be 65,000 and 68,000 dalton, respectively, Among serveral substrates, γ-CD was most rapidly hydrolyzed by the purified CDase.

        Benzodiazepines are used widely for medical purposes and drug abuse becomes a serious social problem because of psychological and physical dependence and overdose deaths. For accuracy and convenience to detect small amount of drugs in urine, it is necessary to develop a rapid in vitro detecting method. For this requirement the immunological determination reagent which reacts a specific drug antigens is one of the best method. A benzazepinylalkanoic acid which can be used as a component of the reagents for detecting benzodiazepine drugs or their metabolite in urine, was synthesized from 5-phenyl-4, 5-dihydro-1H-benzazepin-2-one(1).

        This study was a synoptic assessment of availability of the emergency medical transport by EMS helicopter. There have been 3 helicopters that belong to the Chonnam Regional Police Department. All of them could have been used in transporting emergency medical patients, especially when the patients would be islanders or be occurred in mountainy areas. During the past 5 years from the early 1995 to the late 1999, however, a total of 27cases were transported to the Chosun Univertiy Emergency Medical Center by EMS helicopter. In order to augment the availability or feasibility of the patient transport by EMS helicopter, the emergency medical technician or staff should be accompanied. At the same time, the merits of using the EMS helicopter should be disseminated to the general population.

        노인틀니 보험급여를 위한 건강보험재정추계연구

        The purpose of this study is to estimate the National Health Insurance budget needed for the Korean elderly's denture service coverage. For more exact estimating the budget, denture need and demand were calculated by using 2000 National Oral Health Survey data. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. Over 65 years old, full denture and partial denture need per arch were each 8.5% and 16.8%. And over 70 years old, those were each 11.3% and 17.8%. 2. Over 65 years old, full denture and partial denture demand per arch were each 22.8% and 21.2%. And over 70 years old, those were each 27.%% and 21.1%. 3. Based on the denture need, the health insurance budget needed in the first operative year was about 955.4 billion won, over 65 years old and about 644.2 billion won, over 70 years old. 4. Based on the denture demand(wear), the health insurance budget needed in the first operative year was about 207.5 billion won, over 65 years old and was about 151.6 billion won, over 70 years old. If health insurance policy of elderly's denture service coverage is performed, actual denture wear rate is going to increase, and the budget needed is also increasing. Because current National Health Insurance budget status is poor, it is difficult to execute health insurance coverage for elderly's denture service. Therefore we suggest that health insurance coverage for preventive service is to be considered in order to reducing denture need in the long term view.

        해마 theta리듬과 pyramidal neuron의 세포내 특성과의 상관관계

        Eledctrophysiological phenomena of pyramidal cells in the CAI area of the dorsal hippocampus were recorded from and filled with neurobiotin in anesthetized rats. The electropharmacological properties of membrane as well as the cellular-synaptic generation of rhythmic slow activity (theta)were examined. The intracellular response characteristics of these pyramidal cells were distinctly different from responses of inteneurons. Pyramidal cells had a high resting membrane potential, a low input resistance, and a large amplitude action potential. A afterhyperpolarization was followed a single action potential. Most of pyramidal cells did not display a spontaneous firing. Pyramidal cells displayed weak inward rectification and anodal break excitation. The slope of the frequency-current relation was 53.4 Hz/nA for the first interspike interval and 15.9 Hz/nA for the last intervals, suggesting the presence of spike frequency adaptation. Neurobiotin-filled neurons showed pyramidal morphology. Cells were generally bipolar dendritc processes ramifying in stratum lacunosum-moleculare, radiatum, and oriens. Commissural stimulation discharged pyramidal cells, followed by excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs and IPSPs). The frequency of theat-related membrane potential oscillation was voltage-independent in pyramidal neurons. At strong depolarization levels (less than 30 mV) pyramidal cells emitted sodium spike oscillation, phase-locked to theta. The observations provide direct evidence that theta-related rhythmic hyperpolarization of principal cells is brought by the rhythmically discharging interneurons. Furthermore, the findings in which interneurons were also paced by rhythmic inhibitory postsynaptic potentials during theta suggest that they were periodically hyperpolarized by their GABAergic septal afferents.
