      • 비만 여성을 대상으로 한 해조류 추출물의 국부처치와 운동 병행을 통한 지방분해 효과의 임상적 검정

        This study was carried out to test the body fat breakdown during topical seaweed extract treatment and in combination with the aerobic exercise. Of 20 female obesity subjects, ten treated a cream types of seaweed extract(control group) and ten treated a placebo cream(placebo group). Topical treatment of each sample was designed for 4 weeks, and treated with 2 times a day about 10ml on the abdomen and the thigh, respectively. All subjects were participated aerobic dance half hour a day and four times a week. After 4 weeks of topical treatment and exercise, they were measured body fat, skinfold thickness, body circumference. Then venous blood samples were taken and analyzed blood cells, serum enzymes, and serum lipids. There were reduction of body weight, % of body fat, antebrachium, brachium, chest, waist, thigh circumference and abdomen thickness between pre and post treatment in both group. Especially, body weight and % of body fat significantly reduced in the subjects treating the seaweed extract than those treating the placebo. There were significant decrement in total cholesterol and LDL whereas increment in HDL and TBIL in the control group, but no significant difference in the placebo group. In conclusion, there were 7.6% of body fat reduction during 4 weeks of aerobic exercise and 21% of body fat reducement in combination of topical seaweed treatment and exercise, respectively. These results suggest that the topical treatment of seaweed extract should be very effective for fat breakdown. Especially, the body fat breakdown maximized in the combination with the topical seaweed extracts treatment and the aerobic exercise.

      • 簡單한 細菌學的 方法을 利用한 尿中 抗菌物質 檢索과 同定

        요(尿)와 혈청에서 항균물질을 검색하고 동정할 수 있는 간단한 세균학적 방법을 확인하고 확대시켰다. 이 간단한 방법을 이용하여 544가검요(可檢尿)를 검사하였든 바 이들로부터의 항생제 검출율은 13.6%(74가검물)이었다. 15가검물에서 항균제를 동정하였다. 이 검사방법은 신속하게 실시할 수 있고, 값이 저렴하고, 경험이 없는 사람도 실시할 수 있기 때문에 일상검사에 이 방법을 사용할 것을 제안하였다. A simple bacteriological method to detect and identify antibacterial substances in urine and serum were confirmed and extended. Employing this simple method, we have found that of 544 urine specimens from various sources, the frequency of finding antibiotics in urine specimens was 13.6%(74 specimens). The antibiotics was identified confidently with typical patterns of inhibitory zone in 15 urine specimens. As this method is neither time consuming nor expensive and can be set up by inexperienced laboratory personnel, we would like to propose this method to be used in routine laboratories.

        The purpose of this research is to analyzed the facts of the freshman's actual lives of Yeungnam College of Science & Technology using the questionnaire. The questionnaire are consisted of 4 parts. The first part focused on the students' demographic factors. The second part focused on the life environment of the students'. The third part focused on the student's attitude about college. The forth part focused on the students' psychological traits and so on. The result of this research shows the traits and changes of the freshman lately. In addition it dim the basic materials to establish administration of college and to counsel and guide the freshman.

      • Cyclosporin A 가 Polyvinylpyrroridone에 對한 마우스의 免疫反應에 미치는 影響

        Cyclosporia A(CSA)가 胸腺依存性 抗原인 緬羊赤血球와 胸腺非依存性 第2型 抗原인 polyvinylpyrroridone(PVP)에 對한 免疫反에 미치는 影響을 알아보고자 本 實驗을 實施하였다. CSA 處理는 緬羊赤血球와 PVP에 對한 plaque forming cell (PFC) 反應을 抑制하였다. 抗緬羊細胞血淸의 投與는 PVP에 對한 PFC 反應을 顯著히 亢進시켰다. 이와같은 實驗結果는 CSA가 胸腺依存性 抗原과 胸腺非依存性 第2壟 抗原에래 對한 免疫反應을 抑制하며 superessor T cell이 正常的으로 PVP에 對한 抗體反應을 抑制하고 있음을 示唆한다. This study was undertaken to assess the effect of cyclosporin A(CSA) on immune response to thymus-dependent antigen, sheep red blood cells(SRBC) and thymus independent type 2 antigen, pol~inylpSrrorjdone(P~p~. G A treatment was done by 3 subcutaneous injections. of CSA(100 mg/kg) on oae day before, at the same time of, and one day after immunization. Treatment of mice with C5A caused the profound suppression of plaque-forming cea(PFC) responses to S B C and PVP. Intravenous treatment of PW-Immunized mice with.antithjmocfie serum caused the profound enhancement of PFC response to PVP. These results indicate that CSA inhibit both thymusdependent and thymus-independent type 2 antigen and suppressor T cell3 normally function to dampen the immune response to PVP.

      • 알콜리즘에서 Buspirone에 대한 Cortisol과 Prolactin 반응

        연구목적: 본 연구는 buspirone에 대한 cortisol과 prolactin 반응을 통해 알콜리즘에서 5-HT1A 수용체기능을 조사하고자 하였다. 방법: 알콜리즘 환자군은 DSM-IV의 알콜리즘 진단기준에 부합되고 금주기간이 최소 3개월 이상이며 우울 및 불안증상이 없는, 한 정신병원 알콜 센터에 입원한 22명의 남자 환자였다. 대조군은 정상성인 남자 15명이었다. 이들에게 오전 9시에 5-HT□ 효현제인 buspirone 30mg을 경구 투여한 후 0, 30 , 60, 90, 120, 150분의 혈청 cortisol과 prolatine 농도를 측정한다. 결과: 환자군과 대조군간에 cortisol 기저치에는 유의한 차이가 없었다. Buspirone 투여 후 혈청 cortisol 농도는 정상대조군에서는 기저치에 비해 유의한 증가를 보였으나(p<0.01) 환자군에서는 유의환 증가가 없었다. 혈중 cortisol 농도는 buspiron 투여 60분 이후부터 환자군에서 정상 대조군에 비해 유의하게 저하되어 있었다(p<0.05). Buspirone에 대한 혈청 prolactin 반응은 환자군과 정상대조군간에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결론: Buspirone 투여 후 둔마된 혈청 cortisol 반응을 통해 알콜리즘에 5-HT1A 수용체 반응성이 둔마되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prolactin and cortisol responses to 5-HT1A receptor activation by buspirone in alcoholics. Methods: The subjects were twenty two male alcoholic patients meeting the DSM-IV criteria for alcohol dependency and abstaining for more than 3 months. Patients were free from overt anxiety and depressive symptoms. Controls were fifteen male normal volunteers, with no psychiatric and medical illness. Blood samples for the measurement of serum cortisol and prolactin levels were drawn 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes after oral administration of 30mg buspirone hydrochloride at 9:00a.m. Results: The baseline cortisol levels were not significantly different between alcoholics and controls. Serum cortisol levels of controls after buspirone administration were significantly increased over time(p<0.01), but those of alcoholics did not increased. After 60 minutes following buspirone administration, cortisol levels were significantly lower in alcoholics than in contrlos(p<0.05). Prolactin responses to buspirone were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusions: Our results suggested that 5-HT1A receptor function is decreased in alcoholic patients.

        Characteristics of the Germline <em>MEN1</em> Mutations in Korea: A Literature Review

        Purpose: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN-1) is an autosomal dominant disease caused by the <em>MEN1</em> germline mutation. We reviewed previous reports in order to sum-marize the characteristics of germline <em>MEN1</em> mutation in Korea.Methods: We retrieved the relevant literature regarding <em>MEN1</em> germline mutation in Korea using the Pubmed (<a href="http://www.pubmed.org/">http://www.pubmed.org/</a>) and Koreamed (<a href="http://www.koreamed.org/">http://www.koreamed.org/</a>) databases from 2000 to 2012. We evaluated the pedigree of the patients in order to exclude the same, repeated families. We collected all data on the types of mutations and clinical characteristics.Results: There were nine studies with 12 cases of <em>MEN1</em> mutations in Korea. Two cases were sporadic MEN-1. C.196_200dupAGCCC was reported in three families. There were six cases of frameshift mutation, three cases of missense mutation, two cases of nonsense mutation, and one case of splice site mutation. Five mutations were novel mutations not previously reported.Conclusion: We summarized the characteristics of germline <em>MEN1</em> mutations in Korea. Genetic testing of <em>MEN1</em> is rare in Korea; however, it will be useful in preclinical diagnosis and genetic counseling.

        Possible Link between Serotonin and Interleukin 18 on Suicidality in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome

        Objective: We investigated effects of serum serotonin and interleukin 18 levels on suicidal ideation (SI) at acute and chronic phases of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Recent-onset 969 ACS patients were evaluated for serum serotonin and interleukin 18 levels; and SI by the “suicidal thoughts” item of the Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Rating Scale. After 1-year, 711 patients were re-evaluated for SI. Logistic regression models were used adjustment for potential covariates. Results: Associations between serum interleukin 18 and SI at both phases were significant only in the lower serotonin group. Conclusion: By evaluating serum serotonin and interleukin 18 levels, the clinical prediction of SI of ACS may be improved.

        A single-step isolation of useful antioxidant compounds from Ishige okamurae by using centrifugal partition chromatography

        One of the main compounds in Ishige okamurae, diphlorethohydroxycarmalol (DPHC), is known to exhibit antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects. However, it has not been investigated extensively. In this study, preparative centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) coupled with 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) ($ABTS^+$) online HPLC was employed for effectively separating considerable amounts of antioxidant compounds from marine algae. Two main antioxidant compounds, DPHC and octaphlorethol A (OPA), respectively, were confirmed and isolated from the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fraction of I. okamurae by $ABTS^+$ online HPLC and preparative CPC systems. The presence of DPHC and OPA was confirmed in the EtOAc fraction of I. okamurae by both liquid chromatography with diode array detection and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC-DAD-ESI/MS) and $ABTS^+$ online HPLC systems: DPHC (39 mg) and OPA (23 mg) were successfully isolated from I. okamurae (500 mg) with optimum solvent composition (0.5:10:4:6; n-hexane/EtOAc/MeOH/water, v/v) with corresponding partition coefficients (K) of 1.62 and 2.71, respectively, by preparative CPC. Hence, CPC coupled with $ABTS^+$ online HPLC is convenient for the efficient and simple isolation of these antioxidant compounds from I. okamurae.
