Asbestosis is the disease of pulmonary fibrosis caused by the inhaled asbestos fibers, and could be diagnosed clinically, in the case of exposure history to asbestos is proved, by clinical symptoms of dyspnea or dry cough, physical examonation findings, and the radiographic features. But many othder inorganic dusts would show similar findings in the chest radiogram and sometimes the exposure history is obscure, so for the exact diagnosis of asbestosis lung biopsy is needed. In Korea, there have been some reports of survey in the workplace where asbestos is handled or of asbestos related diseases. This is a case report of asbestosis with accompanying pleural plaques, who had the occupational exposure to asbestos for 30 years and the consistent clinical, radiographic and pathological findings in the lung tissue obtained by the videoscope assisted thoracoscopic biopsy(VATS).
대구지역 대수층 사암의 광물상 안정 및 지하수의 화학적 조성과의 관계

대구지역 주요 대수층인 반야월층과 함안층 사암의 구성광물을 조사하고 이 중 석영, 사장석, 정장석, 미사장석, 방해석 등 주요 광물과 미량이나마 흔히 관찰되는 고령석, 백운모, 녹니석, 스멕타이트의 안정관계를 나타내는 활성도 다이어그램 log([M^(n+)])/[H^(+)]^(n))-log[H_(4)SiO_(4)] (M: K, Na, Ca, Mg, n: 원자가)을 열역학적 자료를 이용하여 작성하고 여기에 반야월층과 함안층 지하수의 화학 분석치를 점시하였다. 그 결과 지하수는 거의 전부가 고령석의 안정영역에 점시되므로 대수층암석의 구성광물 중 지하수의 화학적 조성과 평형에 있는 고령석은 안정하나 평형상태에 있지 않는 다른 광물 즉, 장석류, 백운모, 녹니석, 스멕타이트 및 방해석은 불안정하여 분해된다. 따라서 이 과정에서 용탈되어 나온 K^(+), Na^(+), Ca^(2+), Mg^(2+)과 관련 음이온 HCO_(3)^(-), Cl^(-), SO_(4)^(-2) 등이 지하수의 주요 화학적 조성이 된다. The mineral compositions of sandstones in the Panyawoel and Haman formations which are major aquifers in Daegu area were investigated, and the activity diagrams of log([Mn^(+)]/[H]^(n))-log[H_(4)SiO_(4)] (M: K, Na, Ca, Mg, n: atomic value) showing their phase stability relationships were drawn using thermodynamic data for plagioclase, K-feldspar, calcite and the minor minerals of muscovite, chlorite and smectite which occur in the sandstone. The chemical compositions of the groundwaters sampled from 42 wells in the Panyawoel and Haman formations area were nearly all plotted in the kaolinite region. Therefore, kaolinite in equilibrium with chemical compositions of the groundwaters is stable, and other unstable minerals such as feldspars, muscovite, chlorite and smectite including calcite will be decomposed and converted into secondary minerals producing K^(+), Na^(+), Ca^(2+), Mg^(2+), HCO_(3)^(-), Cl^(-), SO^(2-) as major chemical compositions of the groundwaters in Daegu area.
점포내 VMD요소가 SPA 브랜드 정체성에 미치는 영향

This study was to examine the effect of VMD factors on brand identity for SPA brands. As brand stimulus, four SPA brands(e.g., Basic House, Codes combine, Uniqlo, Zara) were selected by pretest. For collecting data, a self-administered questionnaire was developed based on the literatures and intercept survey was conducted. A total 508 usable responses were obtained from consumers who shopped at the selected brands' stores. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and regression analysis were used. As perceived by consumers, VMD consisted of seven factors: lightening, scent, color, layout, music, window display, and item presentation. The VMD factor was significantly related to brand identity for the SPA brands. Specifically, brand awareness was predicted by color, layout and item presentation; brand association strength was predicted by color, layout, and widow display; favorable brand association was predicted by item presentation; salience of brand association was predicted by color and music; and brand image association was predicted by color, layout, music, and item presentation. Thus, this study discussed a managerial implication for SPA retailers to develop a visual merchandising strategy in the competitive marketplace.

From January 10th 2002 to February 17th 2002, the clinical study was carried out I case of patient in trouble with voiding difficulty such as urinary incontinence, enuresis and urinary frequency after the L₄-L_(5) HN P operation, who had been hospitalised in the Dept. of Internal Medicin e, Cheon-An Oriental Medical Hospital, Daejeon University. The results were as following 1. For this case, we could get the better result using Bo-Joong-lk-Gi-Tang(補中益氣湯) in the treating period. 2. We could get the effective result that the case of voiding difficulty after HNP operation and cerebral infarction by conservative therapy of oriental medicine such as acupuncture, moxibustion and herb medicine.

This research was conducted to present the possibility of utilization as basic data and future genetic resources for planning for breeding and breeding direction planning for the preservation of the Gyeongsang National University (GNU) line through genetic diversity, genetic structure and character analysis of GNU line black goats, by using Microsatellite (MS) marker. A total of 247 Korean native black goats of four lines were used (Dang-jin; DJ : 68, Jang-su; JS : 80, Tong-yeong; TY : 71, GNU : 30), and a basic statistical analysis confirmed values suitable for the study. In addition, as a result of FIS analysis, it is thought that line differentiation is occurring in the case of the GNU line because it is farther away from 0 (-0.110), which is the standard of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, in a negative direction than other goat lines. Also , through Factor Correspondence Anlysis (FCA ) and STRUCTURE analysis , it has been determined that the GNU line displays a different genetic structure compared to other native black goat lines, indicating that there has been no genetic exchange or admixture. Therefore, in this study, it is judged that the GNU line is valuable as a future genetic resource and can be used as basic data for maintenance and conservation through planned breeding considering inbreeding rate.

<P>High temperature superconducting (HTS) cable operates under relatively low temperature and its unique operating condition brings new challenges in the area of maintenance and diagnostics of the cable. As an example, a temperature difference occurs on connection systems between instruments on room temperature and HTS cables which eventually leads to thermal energy loss. The thermal energy loss affects frequency characteristics of the cable which are critical aspects for simulation and maintenance of the HTS cable systems. In this paper, an attempt to reduce thermal loss is introduced with an improved connector applying a Peltier module. The performance of the designed connector is verified with analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation properties of HTS tapes and a cable. The investigation of S -parameters and the proposed connection method is expected to be further applied to various HTS systems in future.</P>
Serum lipid profile and the risk of Behcet’s disease: A nationwide population-based study in Korea

Background: Behçet’s disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory vascular disease affecting multiorgan system. Some studies reported higher prevalence of dyslipidemia in BD patients. However, there had been lack of comprehensive studies with regard to the association between lipid profile composition and BD in a large population. Objectives: To determine the association of BD with serum lipid profiles. Methods: A nationwide population-based study was performed using claims data from the Korean National Healthcare Insurance service. A total of 9,914,049 subjects were enrolled. Individuals who developed BD were identified during follow-up. Adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) by age, sex, body mass index, cigarette smoking, alcohol drinking, exercise, income and underlying comorbidities was calculated to define the impact of serum lipid profiles on developing BD. Results: During a median follow-up of 7.3 years, BD was detected in 2,681 (0.027%) individuals. Compared with the lowest quartile of serum TC levels, higher TC levels were associated with lower incidence of BD. Lower serum HDLC levels were associated with higher incidence of BD. Lower serum LDL-C levels were associated with higher incidence of BD. Moreover, lower serum TG levels were associated with higher incidence of BD. Conclusion: Low serum TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG levels were associated with BD.

<P>Although the double-stapling technique has been used as a safe procedure in gastroduodenostomy, creating anastomosis with a circular stapler on the linear stapler line can be vulnerable for anastomotic leakage and ischemia.
