A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

흰쥐에서의 CYCLOSPORIN A-유발 간독성에 대한 THROMBOXANE A₂-수용체 길항제인 KT2-962의 효과

Cyclosporine (CsA) is now widely used as immunosuppressive agents which has the unique capacity to prolong graft survival by a selective inhibitory effect on antigen-reactive T-lymphocytes. But, its renal toxicity is a major limiting factor for clinical use of CsA and is partially related to renal hemodynamic alteration. It has been suggested that thromboxane (TX) A₂would be one of the critical mediators of altered renal meondynamics. Therefore, various factors and effects can be participated in the toxic effect of CsA on liver function. In this study, the effect of KT2-962 (KT), an azulene derivative of recently synthesized selective TXA₂receptor antagonist on preventing acute hephtoxicity in CsA -treated rats was examined and blood glucose level. COT and CPT activity, and body weight were measured. Ultrastructural changes of the hephtocyte were evaluated by electron microscopy. Male Wistar rats were administered of CsA (25mg/kg, i.p) or KT2-962(30mg/kg,p.o) with CsA (25mg/kg, i.p) once a day for 20 consecutive days. The pretreatment of extra KT2 for 3 days was done before coadministration of CsA+KT2. The results (values are means±SE) obtained can be summarized as follows: 1) Body Weight (gm): Body weight was progressively increased and gained about 66.06±3.1(251.1 vs 318.7) on 3rd week of treatment in the control group. In contrast, there was weight loss of 37.1±2.8 (259.5 vs 220.9) in the CsA group. KT2 cotreatment with CsA inhibited weight loss by CsA and gained 40.2±1.9 (250.2 vs 290.4). 2) Blood glucose concentration (mg/dl): Blood glucose level was significantly increased to 2.3 times compared with control group (92.5 vs 210.0) in the CsA group. But, in the KT2+CsA group the blood glucose level within normal range preserved. 3) Serum GPT activity(U/L) : Serum GPT activity was significantly increased to 4.1 times compared with control group (24.4 vs 100.3) in the CsA group. But, in the KT2+CsA group, it was slighty increased to 1.9 times as control group and corresponded to below half of CsA group. 4) Serum GOT activity (U/L): Serum GOT activity was markedly increased to 4.6 times compared with control group (46.5 vs 215.7) in the CsA group. But, in the KT2+CsA group, it was slightly increased to 1.4 times compared with control group and correspond to below 70% of CsA group. 5) In the electron microscopic finding of a hepatocyte in CsA group. Nucleus is deformed. Mitochondria are swollen and cisternae of the rough endoplasmicis reticulum are dilated and sacculated. Autophagic vacuoles are seen, Golgi complex is slightly hypertrophied and amount of glycogen particles is reduced. But in the KT2+CsA group. Nucleus is round and rough endoplasmic reticula are evenly distributed and consist of paralelled cidternae with ribosomegranules. Mitochondria and Golgi complex are seen. Glycogen particles are distributed in large number. Consequently, it is suggested that endogenous TXA₂may be related with CsAhepatotoxicity and cotreatment of selective TXA₂receptor antagonist, TXA₂-962 can suppress CsA-induced hepatotoxicity in rats.

장애인을 위한 보라매 공원의 무장애 공간화 계획

The city of Seoul set up a 5 year plan of expanding and improving facilities for the disabled and for the old people. This plan started on July of 2000, and the park is a place that is to be facilitated on 2001. A park is a place where people come to get energy throgh amusement and relaxation. There are a lot of people with different characteristics, but despite these differences, they all get together and mix in freely. Therefore, when facilitating the park, we have to take notice of the disabled people. It has to be comfortable for both normal and disabled people, and eventually, they will all get together as one, regardless of the differences. Because of these reasons, 1 set up a Redesign of Boramae Park. Under the motto of 'barrier free', I built a place where all people can have there own place with equity, not just having the opportunity, but really getting the chance. The main place is a place that has a personal, and social therapy function; a sports space and a gardening space. Other than these spaces, there is a center space for events. All people can increase their health through the sports space, and for the disabled, they can get along with their neighbors and fasten their social comeback from the gardening space, they can not only see the plants, but they can personally raise the plants to get mental stability. They can eventually be cured from this experience. Right now, the city of Seoul is working on the 5 year expanding and facilitating plan, but to increase the facility for the disabled, and get sympathy between the disabled and normal people, more effort is needed.The plan has to be not just adding facilities, but making spaces, programs, and more leisure time is needed to do these activity. The Redesign of Boramae Park was planned under these purpose and it only stopped on a study, but these park has to be made to help make social integration and a blessed society.

백모동에 의한 IgE 생성의 증가

We determined for IgE in serum based on the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in vivo after intraperitoneal injection of Solanum lyratum extract for 14 days. The experiment showed as well whole spleen cells that Solanum lyratum extract enhanced IgE production in vivo. Solanum lyratum extract significantly facilitated the production of IgE by LPS-stimulated murine spleen cells. Solanum lyratum THUNB. also enhanced IgE production from mouse whole spleen cells. Lypopolysaccharide(LPS) stimulated IgE production was enhanced 1.4-fold to 2.7-fold by the addition of Solanum lyratum extract over a period of 7 days.

Individual identification is an important part in medicolegal field especially in mass disaster. At July, 27, 1989, KAL KE-803 was crashed on landing at Tripoli International Airport, Liba. The plane was caught in fire and sixty eight Koreans were sacrified. The majority of victims were severely charred and injured. The authors examed all dead bodies and successfully identified all the cases through visual, anthropological, odontological, radiological and pathological methods including fingerprint and blood typing.

Modal SI 기법 적용을 위한 최적 측정위치 선택

In applying a modal system identification with a limited number of measuring degrees of freedom, the selection of optimal sensor locations (OSL) is critical for a good identification. The current research proposes a new OSL method applicable to a modal system identification (SI) and compares it with a widely used OSL method. The proposed method utilizes the sensitivity of eigenvectors with respect to the structural parameters. A simulation study for a tower structure has been carried out to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. Through the simulation study, the influence of OSL on the structural parameters estimated by a S1 method are investigated.

오리 網膜에 存在하는 神經節細胞의 數와 分布에 關한 硏究

The number and distribution of the retinal ganglion cells in the 1-week-old and 7-week-old ducks were determined from whole flat mounted preparations stained with methylene blue and thionin. The results were summarized as follows. 1. In the 1-week-old and 7-week-old ducks, the areas of the retinas were 269.4㎟ and 357.2㎟, respectively, and the total cell numbers 1,742,800 and 1,808,800, respectively. 2. The ganglion cells based upon soma diameter were classified into 3 groups such as small (below 10㎛), medium (10-20㎛) and large (above 20㎛) ganglion cells. In 1-week-old duck, the relative frequencies of these 3 groups were 91.0%, 8.5% and 0.5%, respectively, and in 7-week-old duck, 83.7% 14.7% and 1.6%, respectively. 3. Area centralis was located at the distance of 1.6mm (1-week-old) and 2.0mm(7-week-old) nasal side from the anterior tip of the pecten. The number of ganglion cells in the area centralis was 11,000 cells/㎟ (1-week-old) and 12,000 cells/㎟ (7-week-old). 4. There was a gradual decrease in density of retinal ganglion cells extending from area centralis to the periphery of retina. 5. The density of the large (above 20㎛) ganglion cells was higher in the peripheral regions than in the center of retina. Higher densities were noted in the superior-temporal region in 7-week-old duck, and in the nasal region in 1-week-old duck than in the other regions. 6. The direction of the beak tip is approximately 30° in 1-week-old and 26° in 7-week-old duck from the angle of the pecten.

Individual identification of severely decomposed or skeletonized bodies is an important part in medicolegal field. 142 bodies were torn up and carried away by flood in a park cemetry, Kwang-Ju, Kyunggi province, Korea at Sept., 10, 1990. The authors examed the 56 bodies, which were gained, through medical, anthropological, odontological, radiological methods, and superimposition for individual identification. Among them, 41 cases were successfully identified, and remaining 15 cases were not identified because of sever destruction and no adequate information.

A study of 118 autopsy cases associated with medical care in 1990 was present according to the medical department, the mode of treatment and the cause of death. The Pediatrics showed the highest rate (25.4%), followed by the Obstetrics & Gynecology (22.9%), and Internal medicine (20.2%). According to the mode of treatment, medical accidents during operation and anesthesia were 29 cases (24.6%) with highest rate in Obstetrics & Gynecology (13 cases), 38 cases (32.2%) were during medication and/or injection with highest rate in Internal Medicine (18 cases), and 51 cases (43.2%) were during general medical practice with highest rate in pediatrics (19 cases). The most prevalent cause of death was the disease of respiratory system (34.9%, 30 cases) and the diseases of cardiovascular and urogenital system accounted for 31.4% and 11.6% respectively. The main cause of death in Internal medicine was the disease of cardiovascular system (11/24 cases), the respiratory system in pediatrics (15/30 cases) and the disease of urogenital system in Obstetrics & Gynecology (9/27 cases. ) Asphyxial deaths were 7 cases and the death due to adverse drug reaction accounted for 10 cases.

경북지역 국도변 도로조경 현황조사 및 개선방안

This study, focussed on street trees, was carried out to find current status of landscape around the national road and to make an improved plan for problems along with this procedure. Part of the 6 of 15 line of the road in Kyoung-Buk province, was selected by its greatly recommended function, landscape and traffic. Current status of roadside landscape and street trees in this area was examined and analyzed through 3 ways - (1)effect on traffic, (2)impact to agriculture and (3)consist of streetscape - and made proposal that showed a practical tactics about improved plan for problem in there. The landscape along with highway should be considered its functional, ascetic and secure value, and be designed that they does no harm to any natural landscape especially. In particular, street trees act a major role in road's function and work the predominant element of the scape. Therefore the trees need systematic plan and management very highly. This research is a basic step, offering to a frame that consist of the current conditions and improved plan. On and after, we'll have more practical study in this field.
