      • Anti-Inflammatory and Cytoprotective Effects of TMC-256C1 from Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Aspergillus</i> sp. SF-6354 via up-Regulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Murine Hippocampal and Microglial Cell Lines

        <P>In the course of searching for bioactive secondary metabolites from marine fungi, TMC-256C1 was isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the marine-derived fungus <I>Aspergillus</I> sp. SF6354. TMC-256C1 displayed anti-neuroinflammatory effect in BV2 microglial cells induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) as well as neuroprotective effect against glutamate-stimulated neurotoxicity in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells. TMC-256C1 was shown to develop a cellular resistance to oxidative damage caused by glutamate-induced cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in HT22 cells, and suppress the inflammation process in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. Furthermore, the neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory activities of TMC-256C1 were associated with upregulated expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in HT22 and BV2 cells. We also found that TMC-256C1 activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways in HT22 and BV2 cells. These results demonstrated that TMC-256C1 activates HO-1 protein expression, probably by increasing nuclear Nrf2 levels via the activation of the p38 MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways.</P>

        The purpose of this experimental study was carried out for the estimate of the properties of underwater non-segregation concrete. Properties of antiwashout underwater concrete is different from other type of concrete and the selection of cement types is greatly dependent on the structural requirement and construction location associated with control compressive strength and modulus of rupture Based on this, this study addresses the comparison of physical properties of concrete according to the use of different cement types. It is also recommended to select a proper cement type depending ton structural characteristics. Rational analytic formula for the modulus of rupture is to predicted from compressive strength of concrete cylinder.

        흰쥐의 악골에 동종 이식한 태아 치아싹의 장기간 발육

        치아우식증이나 치주질환으로 치아를 상실한 경우 여러 가지 방법으로 수복 치료할 수 있으나 그 중에서 임플란트와 치아 이식에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 최근에는 치아 이식에 대한 성공률을 높이기 위해서 치아를 형성시키고 발육시키는 과정에 관한 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 치아싹 이식은 생체 내와 생체 외에서 연구되고 있고, 생체 내 이식은 쥐와 생쥐, 고양이, 개 등 여러 동물에서 시행되고 있다. 이러한 생체 내 이식은 대부분 구강 외에서 시행되고 있으며 구강 내 이식에 대한 연구는 드물다. 본 연구는 악골 내에 이식한 치아싹이 발육되고 석회화되는지 관찰하기 위하여 성숙한 흰쥐의 상악 제 1 구치를 발치하고 그 발치와에 임신 13.5일 된 태아쥐에서 모상기의 하악 제 1 구치의 치아싹을 이식하고 2. 6 개월 후 회생하여 방사선학적 그리고 조직학적으로 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 2 개월과 6 개월 동안 악골 내에 이식한 치아싹은 석회화된 치아 조직이 형성 되었고 치아 조직에서 상아질과 백악질, 치수 조직이 관찰되었으며 법랑질 공간 주변은 상피로 둘러싸여 있었다. 2. 6 개월 동안 구강 상피 하방에 위치한 치아 조직은 상피로 둘러싸여 있었고 주위에 치주인대 및 결합조직이 관찰되었다. 3. 이식한 시간이 경과함에 따라 치아 형성이 진전되었으나 치아 조직은 크기가 작았고 형태학적으로 완전하지 못하였다. In case of missing tooth caused by dental caries or periodontal disease, it can be restored by various methods, and there has been much interest in implant and tooth transplantation. The success of tooth transplantation is going to be attained through the knowledge of growth, development and calcification of tooth. Tooth transplantation has been experimented in vivo and in vitro. Many animals such as rats, mice, cats and dogs are used for tooth transplantation experiment in vivo. In most experiments, tooth was transplanted into the extraoral site, but rare into the intraoral site. In this study, to observe the capacity of formation and mineralization of tooth germ, first molar of a matured white rat was extracted and the cap stage tooth germ of a 13.5 Embryonic day embryo rat was transplanted into the extracted socket. The rats were killed 6 months later and the radiographical and histological results are as followings. 1. Tooth germ transplanted for 2 and 6 months are developing calcified tooth material such as dentin, cementum, pulp tissue, and epithelium around enamel space in the maxilla was seen. 2. The epithelium around enamel space was located beneath the oral epithelium and contained connective tissue and periodontal ligament. 3. Tooth formation was progressed as transplantation period, but the size of newly formed tooth was small and the shape of tooth was incomplete.

        컨테이너 셔틀운송을 위한 차량 대수 결정

        This paper presents two analytical approaches to determine the vehicle fleet size for container shuttle service. The shuttle service can be defined as the repetitive travel between the designated places during working period. In the first approach, the transportation model is adopted in order to determine the number of vehicles required. Its advantages and disadvantages in practical application are also discussed. In the second approach, a logical network which is oriented on job is transformed from a physical network which is focused on demand site. Nodes on the logical network represent jobs which include loaded travel, loading and unloading and arcs represent empty travel for the next job. Then a mathematical formulation is constructed similar to the multiple traveling salesman problem (TSP). A solution procedure is carried out based on the well-known insertion heuristic with the real world data.

        This study was to manufactured the rectangular and cylindrical module types in order to improve the performance of the Metal Fuel Cell. Power densities of two modules were estimated at electrolyte varied from 1 to 10 M-KOH and the shapes of metal fuels were pellet and plate. The performance of the pellet shape with big surface was a higher value about 10 percents than plate shape when the current was 100 mA. As the results of life test with 75 mV in the rectangular module at the 7 M-KOH, which were operated at 1.09 V for twenty hours.

      • 지방과 도시인의 交通手段 利用實態 및 態度 比較硏究

        지방과 도시인의 도로교통 이용실태 및 태도 조사 결과를 보고하였다. 지방을 대표하는 지역으로 경상남도 거창읍을, 그리고 도시는 서울특별시 강남구 대치동을 선정하였고, 각 지역에서 800명(400 부부쌍)의 무선표본을 대상으로 질문지로 조사하였다. 조사내용을 출퇴근 길의 교통수단이용, 외출시의 교통수단이용, 자가용의 이용및 소유실태, 운전면허 소지 및 취득실태, 교통사고경험, 대중교통수단에 대한 평가 및 관련 태도 등이었다. 조사결과, 도시와 지방간의 현재의 교통수단 이용에서의 차이를 파악할 수 있었을 뿐 아니라, 후속연구에서 교통수단이용의 변화를 평가할 수 있는 기저선이 마련되었다. Two representative samples of married couples. one(n=400 couples) from Dae-Chi Dong in Seoul and another(n=400 couples) from the town of Ku-Ch'ang in South Kyung-sang Province were studied through a questionnaire. The questionnaire dealt with (1)transportation uses in commuting to work (2)transportation uses on weekends. (3)types of automobiles owned and the uses to which they are put. (4)statistics related to obtaining and possessing driver licenses. (5)experience of traffic accidents, and (6)attitudes regarding the public trasportations and policies. The study as designed to provide a baseline for future studies on the transportation statistics as well as gauging the urban-rural difference in automobile culture.

      • Vibrion cholerae균 증식에 있어서 Sodium citrate가 미치는 영향

        This study was performed to find a method of more high isolation rate of Vibrio cholerae among the patients and carriers suspected of cholera. Especially, there are several inhibitors in most popularly used Thiosulfate-Citrate-Bile Salt Sucrose(TCBS) agar medium for increasing the selectivity of vibrio spp. therefore, the formation of colonies is low. So, we investigated the effect of the sodium citrate of an ingredient of TCBS agar medium on the growth of Vibrio cholerae. 1. The growth of Vibrio cholerae was inhibited in various agar plate medium including low concentration of sodium citrate and as increasing the concentration of sodium citrate, inhibition of the growth of Vibrio cholerae was greater. 2. Therefore, in order to increase the rate of isolation of Vibrio cholerae, TCBS agar medium was not suitable.

      • 일과 열 및 에너지개념의 상호인식에 대한 고찰

        The purpose of this study aimed to enhance the effect of learning by analyzing the mutual-recognition among the work, the heat, and the conception of energy which is centering around with middle school curriculum. In order to achieve the purpose like this, we investigated the conception of energy, the work, and the heat, and again investigated the recognition degree by classifying with 31 problems to this mutual-transition and preservation. As a preceding study, we formated the conception of every fact of natural phenomena by observing results, and systematized the conceptional system of those integrated principles or rules. In order to grasp the mutual-recognition of the scientific conception, first, we extracted main conception and inquired about it and with this, we grasped the conceptional level by adapting to Piaget's "the formal operational thinking patterns", and analyzed the degree of recognition for scientific conception of the learners. Likewise, we studied a step of fundamental investigation to have phasely thinking by adjusting the phase of Piaget's cognitive development of the learners scientific thinking power to evaluate whether it is lying under the developing stage of the formal operational period or lying under the fore stage.
