韓國人 學生의 腦機能 優勢(Cerebral Dominance)와 손잡이(Handedness)의 傾向

This study was investigated the effects of specialization of brain functions, the distribution of handedness and the correlation between cerebral dominance and handedness. This was surveyed with the samples of 1,302 Korean boys and girls attending in junior high school and senior high school, residing in Taegu city. In this study, Alfred W. Munzert's questionnaire and Tames Bliss & Joseph Morella's questionnaire were used as the instrument for assessing the thend of cerebral dominance and handedness. The results obtained were as follows: Out of the total number of 1,302 examined, 73.7% of them were regarded as right hemisphere dominant type and 12.6% of them were regarded as left hemisphere dominant type. In right hemisphere dominant type, students of junior high school were higher incidence than senior high School. In bilateral and left hemisphere dominant type, students of senior high school were higher incidence than junior high school. In right handers most of them were right hemisphere dominant type. In left handers, most of them were right hemisphere dominant type and the incidence of boys were higher than girls.
회맹장 및 대장을 침범한 장 결핵에 있어서 바륨을 이용한 방사선 이중조영촬영 소견에 대한 연구

To determine the characteristic double contrast barium enema findings of ileo-cecal and colonic tuberculosis and to make differential diagnosis from other bowel inflammatory disease. Sixty-seven patients confirmed as ileo-cecal and/or colonic-tuberculosis in six hospitals were evaluated retrospectively. The diagnosis was proven by endoscopic biopsy, surgery, and clinical follow up. Nine of 67 patients were excluded because radiologic findings were normal though endocopic biopsy examinations resulted in tuberculosis. Histopathological diagnosis were madein 58 cases as follows: endoscopic biopsy(n=29), operation(n=12), follow up examination(n=14), tissue culture(n=1), laparoscopic biopsy(n=2). There were 30 men and 28 females. The mean age were 36 yrs(range:16-67), 34 patients were in the second and third decade. The distribution of lesions, morphological characteristics, mucosal changes, ulcer shape and depth, associated with other tuberculous lesion, multiplicity were retrospectively analyzed in the findngs of double contrast barim enema. The commonest clinical symptoms were abdominal pain(n=35, 60%) and diarrhea(n=18, 31%). The chest radiography revealed association of pulmonary tuberculosis in 39 cases. Tuberculous lesions of other organs except chest were present in five cases. Double contrast barium enema findings showed a thickening and irregularity of intestinal mucosal fold(n=29, 50%), bowel contraction and/or shortening(n=26, 45%). There were small, nodular, superficial ulcers in the case of ulcer depth less than 2 mm in the depth. As many as 39 cases(67%) in this series had two or more lesions in the intestinal tuberculosis. The involved segment revealed symmetrical feature(n=21, 36%). Inflammatory pseudopolypoid lesions were noted in 30 cases(52%). The ileo-cecal region was involved in 38 cases(66%). The ascending colon(n=25, 43%) was the second commonest site with or without contiguous cecal involvement. Lesions in terminal ileum, ileo-cecal valve, transverse colon, descending colon and appendix were seen in 19, 18, 18, 12 and seven cases, respectively. Among 18 cases of ileo-cecal valve lesions, there were incompetency in nine cases(16%) and wide gapping in four cases(7%). In 14 cases, tuberculous enterocolitis was diagnosed by clinical follow-up and double contrast barium enema study. 12 out of 14 cases, the findings of double contrast barium enema of tuberculous enterocolitis were normalized after anti-tuberculous medication. However, two cases showed more aggravated state than before due to inappropriate treatment. Double contrast barium enema plays an important role in the diagnosis of tuberculous enterocolitis, determines the type, site and extent of the involvement and helps in treatment guide by using sequential studies.

To analysis a promoter strength of Atographa californica nucler polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) IE1 gene, an immediate viral gene, ${\beta}$-glactosidase gene as a reporter gene was introduced under the control of the IE1 promoter. The restriction fragment containing IE1 promoter and ${\beta}$-galctosidase gene from pAcIE1-gal were inserter into pBacPAK9 to yield transfer vector pAcNPV-IE1-gal. The pAcNPV-IE1-gal was cotransfected with AcNPV genomic DNA BacPAK6 into Sf9 cells to produce recombinant baculovirus AcNPV-IE1-gal. In addition, recombinant bacvulovirus AcNPV-gal, which express ${\beta}$-galac-tosidase under the control of the polyhedrin promoter, was constrer, was constructed to compared with AcNPV-IE1-gal. The recombinant viruses were respectively infected into Sf9 cells and characterized by the virus titer and expression of ${\beta}$-galactoxidase in Sf9 cells. The promoter strength of IE1 and polyhedrin promoters was determined by the amount of ${\beta}$-galactosidase secreted into medium by viral infection. The titer of AcNPV-IE1-Gal determined by plaque assays in Sf9 cells was similar to that of AcNPV-gal. However, expression level of ${\beta}$-galactosidase by AcNPV-IE1-gal was significantly lower than that by AcNPV-gal. In conclusion, promoter strength of IE1 was approximately 25-fold lower than that of polyhedrin.

Transformed Bm5 or Sf9 cells displaying green fluorescence were constructed by using Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) immediate early gene(iel). Green fluorecent protein(gfp) gane was introduced under the control of the AcNPV iel promotor to yield expression plasmid pAcIE1-GEP. It was transfected into Sf9 or Bm5 cells and cell clones expressing GFP were selected by fluorescence microscopy. Genomic DNA from transformed cells was isolated and integration of AcNPV iel gene harboring gfp gene was confirmed by PCR using AcNPV iel gene-specific primers. The GFP was successfully expressed in the cytoplasm of insect cells transformed with pAcIE1-GFP and the expressed GFP was maintained during cell division. Furthermore, GFP expression by AcNPV iel promoter in transformed cells was not interfered with viral replication. This suggests that transformed cells displaying foreign gene product by using AcNPV iel promoter will be useful for the diverse applications of the insect cells.

신경상피 종양에서 에스트로젠 및 프로제스테론수용체의 발현에 관한 연구

There exist many controversial debates on the presence of estrogen and progesterone receptor in neuroepithelial tumors. The receptors of these two female sex steroid hormones, i.e: estrogen and progesterone receptors, were examined in 24 neuroepitelial tumors. Using a dextran-coated chacoal(DCC) assay, high affinity binding sites were found in the cytosolic fraction with mean capacities of 3.42 and 4.71 fmol/㎎ cytosol protein, respectively. None of the tumors were stained positively for estrogen receptors and only 2 cases of tumor were stained positively for progesterone receptors with immunohistochemical technique. In addition, the most convincing evidence for the absence of estrogen and progesterone receptors was obtained by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and Southern blot hybridization using oligo nucleotide probes which is complementary to the fragments of the human estrogen and progesterone receptors messenger ribo nucleic acid(mRNA). In 24 neuroepithelial tumors, we were not able to find any expression of mRNAs coding for the estrogen and progesterone receptors. From the present study, it is concluded that estrogen and progesterone receptors are generally in neuoepithelial tumors. This study suggests that estrogen and progesterone receptors would not be involved in neuroepithelial tumors and therefore have no current significance as makers for adjuvant medical therapy of most neuroepithelial tumors.
