The yeast s. cerevisiae transformed with yeast expression vector (pMGGalphaH) produce HBsAg consistently, vHBsAg was purified form this yeast and formulated into the yeast derived hepatitis B vaccine. In this article, we conducted several studies on the characteristics of yHBsAg and on the immunogenecity of yeast-derived hepatitis B vaccine. The results are summarized as follows. 1) The physico-chemical characteristics of purified yHBsAg checked by electron microscopic observation, ultraviolet absorption analysis and ultracentrifugational analysis were as same those of hGHs Ag. 2) The purity of purified yHBsAg checked by SDS-PAGE and HPLC was above 98% and antigenecity checked by immunodiffusion test was same as hHBsAg. 3) The immunogenecity of yeast derived hepatitis B vaccine was identical to that of plasma-derived HB vaccine in mice and guinea pigs. ED50% of yeast HB vaccine in mice was 0.3125㎍/㎖. 4) Seroconversion rate of volunteers vaccinated with 20㎍/dose of yeast-derived HB vaccine was 32.8% at month after first injection, 64.1% at 2 months, 91.5% at 6 months and 98.4% at 7 months. The result of this studies indicate that yeast-derived hepatitis B vaccine developed at Mogam Biotechnology Research Institute is safe and immunogenic for man

<P>Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used endocrine disruptor. Recent epidemiologic results have suggested an association between exposure to BPA and cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. We investigated the <I>in vivo</I> effects of long-term oral exposure to BPA on insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. In the present study, 4- to 6-week-old male mice on a high-fat diet (HFD) were treated with 50 μg/kg body weight per day of BPA orally for 12 weeks. Long-term oral exposure to BPA along with an HFD for 12 weeks induced glucose intolerance in growing male mice. Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests showed that the mice that received an HFD and BPA exhibited a significantly larger area under the curve than did those that received an HFD only (119.9±16.8 vs 97.9±18.2 mM/min, <I>P</I>=0.027). Body weight, percentage of white adipose tissue, and percentage of body fat did not differ between the two groups of mice. However, treatment with BPA reduced Akt phosphorylation at position Thr308 and GSK3β phosphorylation at position Ser9 in skeletal muscle. BPA tended to decrease serum adiponectin levels and to increase serum interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor α, although these findings were not statistically significant. Treatment with BPA did not induce any detrimental changes in the islet area or morphology or the insulin content of β cells. In conclusion, long-term oral exposure to BPA induced glucose intolerance and insulin resistance in growing mice. Decreased Akt phosphorylation in skeletal muscle by way of altered serum adipocytokine levels might be one mechanism by which BPA induces glucose intolerance.</P>

In this paper, we proposed a CMOS level shifter with high speed and low power operation using low temperature poly-crystalline silicon (LTPS) thin film transistors (TFTs). The previously reported cross-coupled level shifter using LTPS TFTs suffers from slow transition time and high power consumption. To resolve these problems, we proposed the level shifter using bootstrapping method for fast output response. Using the proposed level shifter, the transition time is decreased and power consumption is decreased compared to cross-coupled level shifter. In the simulated results, the power consumption of proposed CMOS level shifter is 2.91% of cross-coupled latch level shifter, only 190㎼ at 13㎒ operation. And it can operate at high frequency up to 15㎒ with 280㎼ power consumption.
Social capital is regarded as the alternative plan and the index of healthy society for constructing social tie through solving social problems on the basis of causal relationship between sports, social capital, and healthy society, in order to accomplish sound society. The role of sports to construct healthy society and social capital is emphasized here. To accomplish healthy society amid various social deviations nowadays, the value of sports should be newly recognized and highlighted among the general public. To attain this purpose, organizing sports club as a voluntary association and facilitating its activities, securing confidence for the sports organization and policies, developing and popularizing sports program to form community and civil society should be embodied. The research field of sports sociology should inquire into the most suitable condition in constructing healthy society and social capital, and should make efforts to find out realistic solutions to satisfy this that purpose. To examine this aspect, cooperative research on micro scale and macro scale of trust as social capital interdisciplinary research into the field of psychology and sociology, research on the methodology of the social network, and critical research are required.
