The Streptomyces padanus isolate TH04, isolated from mummified peaches, showed strong antifungal activity to Monilinia fructicola. The inhibition activity of the isolate TH04 to mycelial growth and spore germination at 1% concentration of sub-antifungal powder made from culture suspension (CS) was ranged from 79.8% to 81.0% and from 73.9% to 75.8% to M. fructicola four strains, respectively. In the test of antifungal activity in mixed culture of the isolate and M. fructicola, inhibition rate was 7.5%, 86.8% and 94.0% in 0.01, 0.1, and 1% concentration of CS containing bacterial cell of the isolate, respectively. On apples (cultivar; Fuji), the control values of the isolate TH04 crude filtrates (0.1 and 1%) were 85.9% and 100%, respectively. The results suggest that the isolate TH04 indicate development possibility as biocontrol agent of brown rot caused by M. fructicola with the study on delivery method and fermentation condition to produce an antifungal compound.
토양 분리 방선균 Streptomyces griseofuscus 200401의고추 생육 촉진과 역병 발생 억제 효과
임태헌,김진호,권순열 한국식물병리학회 2006 식물병연구 Vol.12 No.1
The microorganisms with the antifungal activity against Phytophthora capsici and Colletotrichum acutatum and the plant growth-promoting activity were screened from a forest and natural fields of Gajang-Dong, Sangju-city. One of the isolates, Streptomyces griseofuscus 200401, was selected as a good plant growthpromoting strain in this study. In greenhouse test, the number of leaf, fresh weight, and dry weight of pepper plants, that were grown with treatment of culture suspension or powder containing S. griseofuscus 200401, were higher than those without the bacterial cells. Cultivation of S. griseofuscus 200401 strain for 7 days in a nutrient rich medium produced ammonium chloride up to 0.13 μg/ml in the culture solution of S. griseofuscus. Treatment of the selected strain significantly reduced the severity of the late blight of pepper plants to show the equivalent disease control activity to chemical fungicide. This study suggests that S. griseofuscus 200401 strain could be a potential biological agent with the biocontrol activity and the plant growth-promoting activity.

토양 방선균 Streptomyces sp. MG 121의 항균활성 및 고추 생육에 미치는 효과
임태헌,김진호,조성현 한국식물병리학회 2007 식물병연구 Vol.13 No.2
The microorganisms with the antifungal activity against Phytophthora capsici and Colletotrichum acutatum and the plant growth promotion activity were screened from forest soils of Moon-gyeong (Juheul Mountain), Gyeongsangbuk-do. One of the isolates, strain MG 121 showed antifungal activity against P. capsici and C. acutatum and possessed phosphate solubilization activity was selected to development biocontrol agent. The strain MG 121 was identified as Streptomyces sp. by analysis of 16S rDNA. On the test with pepper fruits, the strain inhibited disease incidences of late blight and anthracnose over 80%. In greenhouse test, plant height, the number of leaf, fresh weight and roots length of pepper plants upon treatment of culture suspension of Streptomyces sp. MG 121 were significantly higher than those without the bacterial cells. In addition, strain MG 121 was capable to solublize rock-phosphate after incubation for 144 hours in potate dextrose broth. The concentration of soluble phosphate in PDB amended with 0.5% rock-phosphate was increased up to 765 μg/ml.
Effects of Streptomyces griseofuscus 200401 on Melon Powdery Mildew inGreenhouse
임태헌,조정상,강상재,Iruthayasamy Johnson,차병진,최용화 한국식물병리학회 2008 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.24 No.1
The fermentation broth (FB) of Streptomyces griseofuscus 200401 isolated from non-farming soil showed antagonistic activity against powdery mildew fungus both in melon leaf/seedling assay and in field trials. The FB of S. griseofuscus 200401 was tested at different concentrations. In primary test, the control value of 2- fold diluted FB of S. griseofuscus 200401, compared to control, reached to 82.8%. The protective activity recorded 80.5% in 2-fold dilution of FB. The effect was reduced to 28.9% in high dilution (100-fold) treatment. The curative effect was relatively lower than protective activity. In field test, the antifungal activities of S. griseofuscus 200401 remained low in blocks sprayed with 100-fold diluted FB and the control values were 15.2 and 15.9% in 2005 and 2006, respectively. However, the activities were as high as 65% and 67.3% in the blocks treated with 2-fold dilution of FB during the same period.

were investigated in four regions of Korea from 1998 to 2000. The isolation frequency of benzimidazole-resistant isolates ranged from 18.8% to 29.6% in Chongdo and from 22.0% to 26.8% in Gyeongsan during the same period. However, the frequency of benzimidazoleresistant isolates was less than 4.0% in Chochiwon and Youngduk during the same period. Benzimidazoleresistant isolates showed cross-resistance among benzimidazoles. On the other hand, none of the isolates showed cross-resistance to diethofencarb and carbendazim. Regardless of the year, the benzimidazole-resistant isolates of EC50 higher than 500 μg a.i./ml were isolated more frequently in mid and late season than in early season. In an orchard of Gyeongsan that had not been exposed to any fungicides for several years, the population of benzimidazole-resistant isolate had persisted without much fluctuation for three years. These results suggest that benzimidazole resistance of M. fructicola is becoming a problem in controlling brown rot and blossom blight of peach in regions like Chongdo and Gyeongsan.
