To evaluate the effect of allergic parameters, such as serum IgE, eosinophil, and skin test on the bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) in patients with chronic airflow obstruction, we performed methacholine bronchial provocation test, pulmonary function test, skin prick test, and measured blood eosinophil counts and serum IgE level from seventy nine patients who showed persistent fixed airflow obstruction, less than 75% of predicted value in FEV, and FEV1/FVC, despite of conventional treatment without, steroid t.herapy for more than 3 months. The results were as follows 1) There were 53 patients with BHR and 26 patients without BHR. There were no statistically significant differences in sex, age, and smoking duration between positive BHR group and negative BHR group (p>0.05). 2) There was no statistically significant difference in absolute and predicted value of FVC(p>0.05). But there were significantly lower absolute, predicted value of FEV1 and FEV,/FVC% in positive group compared with negative group (p<0.05). 3) There was somewhat higher trend of serum IgE level in positive group. Skin test was not significantly different between two groups(p>0.05). 4) Blood eosinophil count was significantly higher in positive group than in negstive group(p<0.05). Conclusion of this study is that increased bronchial responsiveness in patients with chronic airflow obstruction is inversely related to the level of pulmonary function and significantly associated with blood eosinophilia.

Hybrid simulation may employ different types of simulation based on which models in different system types are developed. The simulation requires simulation time synchronization and data exchange between such simulators, which is called simulators interoperation. This paper develops such interoperable simulation environments for modeling and simulation of hybrid systems whose components consist of continuous and discrete event systems. The environments, one for centerized and the other for distribute, support interoperation between a discrete event simulator of DEVSim++ and a continuous simulator of MATLAB. The centerized environment, HDEVSim++, is developed by extending the sxisting DEVSim++ environment; the distributed environment, HDEVSimHLA, is developed using the HLA/RTl library. Verification of both environments is made and performance comparison between the two using a simple example is presented. .

Objectives: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) refers to a cluster of abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, insulin resistance that predisposes to cardiovascular disease. MetS affects more than 30% of adults in Korea and coexisting with COPD is frequent. Previous cross-sectional studies have suggested associations of impaired lung function with MetS. In contrast, several studies reported reduced all-cause mortality in obese COPD. The aim of this study was to explore whether MetS phenotype has different prognostic implications in COPD patients, particularly focusing on the rate of decline in FEV1 and SGRQ. Methods: A total of 189 eligible patients with COPD were selected from the Korean Obstructive Lung Disease (KOLD) cohort. The presence of MetS was defined according to the AHA/NHLBI criteria. The rate of annual decline in FEV₁and SGRQ were assessed between MetS (+) and MetS (-) group. The presence and number of exacerbation and mortality were also compared. Results: The prevalence of MetS was 32.3%. Patients with MetS (+) had lower FEV1 decline and lower SGRQ decline over 3-year follow-up. In multivariate analyses, MetS remained significant predictor of FEV1 and SGRQ decline independently of confounding factors (P=0.024, P=0.026, respectively). Number of exacerbation requiring hospitalization and mortality were significantly lower in MetS (+) group (P=0.037, P=0.012, respectively). Conclusions: MetS phenotype may relate to reduced deterioration of lung function and quality of life, and reduced exacerbation and mortality in Korean COPD.
유한요소 해석을 이용한 몰딩형 SMPS 솔더의 스트레스 해석

본 논문에서는 SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply)의 몰딩 처리를 통해 생기는 문제점을 파악하기 위하여 유한요소해석을 사용한 시뮬레이션 프로그램인 ANSYS를 통하여 제품의 고온조건에서 몰딩의 유무에 따라 제품의 스트레스 영향을 확인하였다. 분석결과 SMPS에 고온조건에서 몰딩시 조건이 비 몰딩시보다 솔더의 온도포화 시간이 더 증가 하였고 온도에 의한 솔더의 스트레스도 더 증가하는 것을 확인 하였다.

선박의 안전 확보를 위해 각종 규제를 만들고 시행하였으나, 규제만으로 안전을 확보하는 것은 이제 한계점에 도달해 있다. 소형선사 안전관리컨설팅은 규제 위주의 정책이 아니라 선사에서 자발적으로 안전관리체제를 수립 및 시행 할 수 있도록 도와주는 제도이며, 본 연구를 통해 소형선사 안전관리컨설팅 서비스 체계를 구축하였다. 안전관리컨설팅 서비스 체계 구축을 통해 영세한 소형선사의 안전관리 역량 향상이 기대 되며, 현장중심의 컨설팅 수행을 통한 안전관리(책임)자 및 해상종사자의 안전관리 능력 향상이 기대된다.
